1. kountze hasnt been to the playoffs since 1973 when they won district 18-2a (8-2 6-1) they were led by running back  johnny brown . they played newton in the bi district round and lost 21-14 . the irony of this is they beat my school hamshire fannett 28-14 for the 18-2a title (kountze lost to east chambers ) they both finished the district 6-1 (hamshire overall record was 9-1 ) that was almost 40 yrs ago and hamshire hasnt been to the playoffs in 10 yrs .  your right cpujt8 .... WIN !!!!
2. im surprised that the png teams from 1974-1977 wasnt mentioned , i mean they went to state or semifinals in those 4 dominate years . i havent heard about the westbrook team of 82 , beaumont hebert team of 1976 . the question i have is can you have a dominate defense and not win state and be considered a great defense ? french in 1984 had a swarming defense , i swear it would be  11 dudes making a tackle every play during their playoffs run when they shared the state title with odessa permian .
3.

i know from 83 -87 pa sfa had dominating  defenses in the golden triangle , they went deep into the playoffs in 83 and 86-87
'96 also right?
im not too sure about 96 , i played against them in 84 -85 . i know a read an old article that i cant find no more but from 83-86 they had the best defense in the golden triangle they gave up little to no points at all . im sorry i meant from 83-86
4. i know from 83 -87 pa sfa had dominating  defenses in the golden triangle , they went deep into the playoffs in 83 and 86-87
5. great read !!! historically who had the best defense in setx / golden triangle starting with 1970's ?
6. so there will be 4 teams coming out of 1 district that will be eligible for the the state playoffs ?
7. im doing a little project and im reaching out to any player from this team or any ex player from 1981 20-3a that would have the all district football picks from that year that year of won district and tommy peevy ran wild that year  . i actually found them on the net but the copy of it was so worn out you couldnt make out the names and they were smudged out . if any old player or archiver has them  could you list them it would be a big help , thanks !!
8. wow!! times must be hard is there a group picture ? i didnt even see a group pic with the pa super news team .
9. in 2008 tramaine thomas from east chambers was the first player to be nominated on both sides of the ball . i have no problem with montana the young man can play , my point is he played qb was he REALLY the best qb in the golden triangle ? I  dont think so , is he one of the top defensive players in the golden triangle ? yes he is  . i just happen to think its 3 other players better than he is at linebacker , but thats my opinion . he played both ways , hey that comes with the territory in some high schools . i say roberts  from east chambers , he was a finalist of the award as a jr last year , he had more yrds and tds than he did last year and he played 12 games the last two yrs  . if he doesnt get hurt against franklin in the 1st q (3 -45 yrds) they win imo . from an offensive stand point of view what back has the numbers he has put up in the last 2 years since we keep talking about a players  career ?
10. Tvc , I actually put the 1978 statement in on purpose and you took the bait . I see you overlooked when I said tramaine Thomas who went to east chambers just a few years ago and graduated in 2008 to be exact .he was  pa news super team MVP in December of 2007 and winner of the wrs award in 2008 . My point is it has nothing to do with region , that is all I was saying . My mistake if you didn't know where the paper went , but the way you spoke seemed like you did .
11. tvc are you serious ?????  as far back as 1977-1978 east chambers had a player by the name of bret mcdonald make that pa super news  team at linebacker 2 years in a row . i went to hamshire fannett and we  have had quite a few players make that team and beaumont's super gold over the years,  hamshire is right down the street from winne . tramaine thomas made super news team and was the mvp back in 07 , if im not mistaken he was the 1st 2a player to ever recieve mvp for that team. if im not mistaken he won the willie ray smith award for the best defensive player of the year his school is in winnie so the region has nothing to do with it so that argument is mute !!!  i dont think its been a back better than that young man , stats dont lie and neither does the film .
12. i can name 3 linebackers imo are better than montana those 2 from wos take your pick and that #33 from neederland . as far as the offensive side of the ball , im sorry in the last 2 years which offensive player  has meant more to his team and have put up over 2300 yrds 41 total tds (35 rushing ) than mr roberts from east chambers ? i didnt even bring up last years stats , why isnt this kid not getting offers ? havent we learned anything from maurice drew jones and  darrin sproles ?
13. were the 3 safeties from neederland and vidor really better than tony brown at safety , or was this because those two schools represented 20-4a in the playoffs ? anyone that ever played high school football would love to be decorated like this young man especially as a jr . he is just a jr , with that said he has a whole year to come back and show the naysayers he deserved all he was awarded this year . we have all seen players decorated patches all down the sleeves , the back ,blue chip this  and super team that, but they dont even get close to doing anything on the next level . the young man has a whole nother year to be 1st team everything , imo the only team that is really truthful is all district because  the coaches in the district  see you play all the time , not journalist who may never see you play but just heard of you and seen a few highlights . i wish the youg man all the luck in the world and i will be watching to see if he is the next earl thomas
14. i have talked to mr west earlier this football season on some research im  doing for a project of mine, so i may ask him .  i was just wondering if the team is about the top players in the golden triangle , then surely this young man deserves to be on that team . what i have found out the only team that really  means anything as far as post season awards are concerned is when a player makes  all district , that is voted by the coaches in that district . all state , all america and all area teams are great awards , but its all about the media voting and some of those guys have never  really seen alot  of these young men play  . i have seen players make honarable mention in  district , but he is a 1st team all area player in the area where he is from . i guess its up to the person that is picking the team whom he feels deserves to be on that team ,  i know everybody cant make it .
15. his stats rushing over the past 2 years was 4,331 with 64 tds rushing , what back over the last 2 years in the golden triangle area  that either made pa super team or beaumont super gold (which he made last year ) has these kind of numbers and both years help lead his team into the playoffs ? im just curious !
16. wow !! no glen roberts on this team ? hasnt he been like the most prolific rusher and scorer over the past 2 years  in setx football (correct me if im wrong)? especially when teams know he is gonna get the ball he still gets yardage . hasnt he rushed for over 4,000 plus yrds and like 80 tds in the last 2 years ? you put this guy behind katy's line he would be unstoppable imo . he remeinds me of barry sanders , i would hope with his career that he has had  at east chambers 99 total tds and probably 5,000 trds rushing  ( he gets over a 100 if he doesnt get hurt against franklin and east chambers wins imo )a school like lamar isnt recruiting this guy ? all these great players in this area lamar should field better teams and they have players that can take that program to another level , with the right coaching .
17. mr buddy garrity you are right ,  i found out last night that young qb for allen is  kevin murray's (texas a&m qb of the mid 80's) son and he is just a sophmore , wow !! i can see him doing it again . i also found out that lamar's qb is darrel colbert son (westbrook 82 state champ team ) he is a jr  so the  sky is the limit for these young signal callers .
18. I don't know if anyone remembers , but years ago it use to be an all Hardin county team , do they still pick that team ?
19. how does all state selection process goes ? i know a lot of these coaches or even journalist do not  see these young men play on a weekly basis . i know it helps to make all state when you go deep into the playoffs or you have some type of phenomenal season in 10 games . a little help just curious ????
20. for years i always thought all district picks were made after the team or teams from the district finished in the playoffs , from what i have read on here they  already pick the players after the last game of the 10 game season . how do all district picks go anyway, does your coach put certain players up ? or does the other coaches from the district pick other players from other teams whom they think are 1st , 2nd and honarable mention ? a little help i have often wondered on how this process goes .
21.
It was hard to watch that again. First time I have ever seen any footage. It was a heart breaker that night. Still remember the feeling when it was announced over the PA that Cameron would advance on first downs. Come on Eagles. Put your foot on the gas!! :)
were you on that team championship eagle ? whatever happened to byerly ? i heard he went to texas , did he have some sort of an injury ?
22. nice footage and good game , it was cool to see anthony byerly break that run off my man ran down hill , just too many penalties . ahh the days of caged facemasks and forearm and elbow pads . lol
23. thanks badnd i appreciate that , that was all i was asking and  you cleared it up .
24.

i brought this up a few weeks ago on how they do all district picks nowadays , but i didnt get an answer . i remember back in the day if you were mvp of the district and you played running back you were automatically 1st team running back and the stats you racked up was worthy of you being on that 1st team  . i see nowadays if you make a superlative you are not included on the 1st team or second team . the question is who was the best qb in 21-3a ? i am a hamshire alumni and im really happy too see dante smith make 1st team qb , im just curious on how they do their voting nowadays , also glad too see the freshmen k king make newcomer of the year (something we didnt have back in the day ) and other hamshire players make an all district team .
thanks for the answer , so why wasnt reed picked as mvp and 1st team qb , the young man  from wos the  outstanding offensive player and 2nd team qb and dante smith be honarable mention ? im just saying its obvious the system has changed over the years , i was just asking does anyone know why and when ? or did they think that if someone wins superlatives that is enough so its more room to put other kids on the all district list ? Your district MVP and offensive and defensive MVP's are considered 1st team. To answer your question about who was the best QB in the district, well it was the district MVP in Silsbee QB Patrick Reed. Reed finished with over 1100 yards rushing and 2500 yards passing for over 3600 yards of total offense on the year.
