  1. my favorite play is the touchdown play!!!! ;D ;D seriously, for groundbased teams, i like the wishbone plays (ala UT of the 60s and Nebraska of the 90s). From an aerial standpoint, I like the WCO based plays where the checkdown is to the TE.
  2. the officials probably let that go because he was being manhandled by the Olineman. He had no chance at the QB. As long as his hands stay in his chest and not outside the shoulders, he can pretty much do what he wants. That Olineman was in control the whole way. I would be embarrassed if I was the manhandled defender's coach b/c that was just flat out domination. BTW, Soulja, he was in front of him the whole time in my opinion.
  3. Penalties can kill ya!!! Plus there is lost yardage on plays behind LOS. or it can be a misprint...I got this from the Beaumont Enterprise.

  5. I think he injured his leg/ankle making a tackle near/on the sideline, his momentum carried him over and through and he landed on a chair/pavement. However, I saw him trying to run later and thought he would be back in the 2nd half. I had to leave at halftime, so I guess if he was on crutches after the half, then he didn't make it in then.
  6. I know that Jordan Nolan had 3 TDs passing and 1 INT by halftime and John Stelly punched in another TD rushing (before the half). Don't know how they scored after the half....
  7. you can't blame Hardin for a preseason schedule set before the new head coach even got there. BTW, Hardin has played a 3A and a 1A prior to this game. You need to go find some other team in the district that is going to play like 4 straight 1A schools. Anyway, I happen to think that Groveton is a very good 1A team and expect them to do good things before all is said and done.
  8. hey dude...don't u know that on any given Friday, a team could struggle against another team????
  9. Hardin up 37-15 with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
  10. everybody is down a little bit this year. I have not really seen any great volleyball teams yet this year. There is a lot of parity right now in the area. I watched the Evadale tourney and there were a lot of teams that could have beat each other on any given day. No one team stood out at all there.
  11. while it is true that the game Kountze lost to Hardin was started without Johnson, she showed up and entered the game when the score was pretty even, like 5-5 or 7-6, etc. So that cannot be used as an excuse as to why they lost that one game to Hardin. However, I think that it will come down to Kountze and Hardin for top dog.
  12. I believe that Groveton is top 10 ranked, but I still think that it will be a close one with Hardin pulling ahead. Hardin looked very good against Tarkington, but game planning can vary so much on a weekly basis that I bet that Hardin and Groveton will do different things that they didn't do last week. That being said, I think, Hardin by a touchdown.
  13. Coop...anything on Anahuac? or other 24-2A schools. I already know about Warren from ^ above.
  14. Kountze is not too bad. They are scrappy, but really only have one weapon in Johnson, the middle blocker. She hits like a ton of bricks, but they rely on her too much. The others are nice athletes but not a hitter like Johnson. I will concede that the Kountze team did win the Evadale tourney. They are a decent team and will be at least in the mix for 1st or 2nd in District.
  15. it was a JV and Freshman tourney...for the freshmen, i believe it was Hardin vs. Livingston and Livingston won the match 2-0...for the JV, it was West Hardin vs. Tarkington and Tarkington won the match 2-0.
  16. this might be him... [Hidden Content] ya'll would be getting a second year coach. sometimes the good ones are the young ones...
  17. yes, congrats to Jason. I played against this guy in BB in HS and this guy was one of the best in the area at the time. He also has a lot of heart. He was a person who hustled and he will expect the same for his team.
  18. You would be surprised at how much H-D pays their coaches. They are paid very well considering they are at a 1A school. Heck, I believe H-D pays more than Hardin or comparable 2A schools. I can believe that Lumberton pays poorly because I interviewed there about 12 years ago and the school just didn't really look like a 4A school. Kind of shabby looking; of course, that was 12 years ago so I would hope that it has changed.
  19. He did go to H-D. He is a former WH player who could be lights out when he was in HS. Don't know about OC but is Head BB for H-D.
  20. I have heard that they are going to a spread offense so yes, they will like to pass but this will be done to set up the run. If you watch spread offenses, especially the ones in college (not really meaning to compare HS to college, it is just a point), they run the spread in order to take as many defensemen out "of the picture" so to speak. If a linebacker follows a wr or TE, that's one less right there. If the cards fall right, then the spread may enable another defenseman to make the wrong mistake, then the run can work. I think Stelly will be another excellent 2-way player; remember, he racked up more than 100 tackles as a linebacker. Coach Haynes was a former QB at Lamar so he knows offense; I think that Hardin will have growing pains at first, however they have a young team so watch out for them next year. BTW, this is assuming the spread offense is what is being installed at Hardin.
