The kid lost some desire. He ballooned up weight wise and resembled nothing like his hs days.

Not to stir up anything but it looks like my post was "modified". If I can not write a coach's name out here when he publicly was unsportsmanlike then I will say he was not "a coach" but the head coach.

I can go along with that sentiment. I never had a problem with Kirbyville until the antics of a coach 2 years ago in the Silsbee game. Extremely unsportsmanlike. I have never seen the DPS and local law enforcement have to walk out to mid field and all but threaten a coach to settle down.

.....but at the same time you have to get the practices in if for nothing else to get the kids acclimated to game conditions. When you watch NFL players skip training and preseason they either lag getting into playing shape or get injured quickly due to not being in game shape.

Ron McGill was awesome in hs. Pepsi player of the year in 4A I believe.

Bryan Doss 91-93 was a stud. He ran the option well. Patrick Henry 86-88. All state and A&M until injury. Curtis Buckley. Nfl ,SF,Atl,TB Desmond Doss 2004. That kid was a special wr.

Wonder who they are. Coach usually downplays his squad. I believe I have only ever heard him say "we'll be alright".

Every year there are teams that for whatever reason stumble. If they didn't then we would not have the "Cinderellas." Call it a feeling, but I see Nederland and Bridge City possible outside looking in.

Aw c'mon man....in their own world they are champions. After all they were undefeated in peewee and middle school ball. All kidding aside, kids do need to feel they have a shot. I do not know of one person who wakes up looking to fail for the day. I felt Silsbee underachieved last year hopefully not this season.

I can understand the cheapening feelings, but in our area our 4th place teams could probably win district in a lot of western districts. It is a shame how the Greater Houston area has such a bloodbath. Few championship games are really close. It is crazy for a team that fights and struggles and barely survives a region to totally demolish the opponent in the championship game. That shows how strong our area really is. On the plus side, a 4th place team that gets an opportunity to play a playoff game gives their school and community a shot in the arm. Kids like/need to feel successful. I was associated with a school that has tremendous basketball talent, but a horrible football squad. The kids who participated worked hard, but many talented kids would never go out for fb due to the lack of success. When kids think there is a shot whether it is 1st or 4th place they think "hey we're in the playoffs". It is very positive.

Who will fail to live up to the preseason hype?

Wow. :shock: You guys wanted some ammo there it is. I would verify this statement and have a copy on hand if at all possible. If she questions how a "non-taxpaying" coach can have a stadium named after him ask her how a non-taxpaying school board member can ask such a question.

Well, if you speak just be civil and respectful. It will make you guys look better. I was told today she had been in the grocery stores with a petition. Sad actually. If you really want to bust her chops get the attendance records of the board meetings. If she has a history of missing meetings ask why. If she doesn't see fit to be there to help make tough decisions for the betterment of the children of the district why be there at all.

The media has been a let down the past couple of years especially the Enterprise. Looks like every story is just a cut and paste from the A.P. The last few seasons you were lucky if a box score of a hs fb game was even in it on a Saturday morning. As far as the other media I guess if you are from mid county you enjoy the fb coverage. :?

I would like to buy but at this point I will sell. How will the kids and parents respond to the discipline of the new coach? I can see a lot of turmoil in the athletic department if the vacancies are not filled to the community's satisfaction. That whole place is a tinderbox. No way would I want to be there until it all settles down.

Gonna have to sell. Whereas Nederland has been good it seems they have been down a tad from the higher teams of say 3-5 years ago. That's not to say they won't be successful. Buy/Sell Dayton will finish no lower than second in the final district standings.

Sell: WOS will get there but I just can not buy into all of the BC love after just one year. The year before, any team with speed seemed to give BC fits.
