I think this will be a great game...and I can assure you that no one in Montgomery is looking past Vidor.  I did not know the adversity that you have been through this year, but it has the makings of a "team of destiny" sort of thing.  Anyway, the great thing about this game is what I like about Texas High School football...two small towns, where football is very important, meeting up for an all or nothing matchup...they make movies about this kind of stuff. As far as the game itself, after watching some Vidor film with my son, I think that Montgomery will win (of course) 24 - 14.  The style of offense you run will keep our O off the field as much as we are used to...however, our defensive speed will create some negative yardage plays by rushing 8 or 9 and keep you out of the endzone for much of the night...unless you guys learn to throw the ball this week.  The Bears defense is holding opponents to less that 200 ypg...the last 4 teams averaged 64 ypg. All in all, it should be a pretty close game...much more so than Montgomery/Huntsville or Vidor/Crosby.  I think how well the Vidor defense does against our 430 yard and 42 point per ganme offense will be the decising factor.  I canot wait!
Just ask Ozen and Livingston what blitzing will do to this type of offense. Our type of offense is misdirection offense which mean 9 times out of 10 you will probably not know who will get the ball until they have it which means you better have everyone covered. All it takes is one of your guys blitzing to guess wrong on who has the ball and it can turn into a big play. All four of our runners have really good speed and if you guess wrong then its either 6 points or a big run. And we know how to pass the ball. We've proved that in most our games this year.

Thats not an excuse thats a fact.
Yes it is a fact that you are a better team when you have everyone healthy. But what isn't a fact is saying you would've won that game or scored more and allowed less points with that person playing. That's not a fact.
 3.
Our leading tackler LB#33 did not play injured nor #2 one of our best safetys/RB was out injured. Just alittle side note. ;)
And our second leading rusher David Smallwood was out for that game and will be back for this game. Don't make excuses.  :)
 4.
This is a bit of a moot point.  I haven't been real impressed by any of the play east of Houston this year.  It's very plausible that no teams from 19 or 20 will remain after this weekend.  I've liked Vidor all year but I just don't think they have enough for Montgomery and Ozen has a huge hill to climb.  Nederland and Dayton could easily be sitting at home after this weekend as well.
We'll see after friday and saturday.  :)
 5.
Montgomery was ahead 35-14 and played alot of 2nd and 3rd string players in the 4th Qtr. to check out players but left in 1st string offense.  That won't happen in the playoffs.  :)
Vidor was up 35 to 20 in the start of the fourth quarter also and we started to rotate in 2cd and 3rd string guys also but we didn't give up another TD even though they were driving.  :)
I guess we're about to find out.  This ain't the 90's anymore, you will have to pass to get through the playoffs.  If Vidor can get by Montgomery's defense I will be impressed.
456 passing yards on this season. And just another lil tid bit. Vidor beat Crosby without a single completed pass.  :)
Crosby isn't close to Montgomery...  I'm eager to see this one.  I've never been to a Vidor game.
Just another lil tid bit of info i found out from a friend  ;) Vidor beat Crosby by 22 points, 42-20. Montgomery beat Crosby by 21 points 49-28. But Montgomery allowed more points than Vidor did.  8)

 11.
Well if we are going to use that logic,I have go with Nederland. We were picked below Vidor and ended up going on to an undefeated District Championship run and are also in 2nd round. GO DOGS!!!!!
Yall were not picked below us. The only team that was picked below Vidor was Lumberton. They had Yall, Livingston, PNG, and Central picked to make the playoffs. I think if there is any team that overachieved what people expected of them it was the Vidor Pirates. I mean picked to get 7th and winning tied for second.
 12.
And VP32, I have seen Vidor play twice this season, once early on and then again against Crosby. I am very impressed with the way they play football. Hard hitting defense, straight ground and pound offense. Who says you need a 5 WR flashy offense, and 11 Deion Sanders on defense. Very disciplined, controlled themselves against after the play nonsense against Crosby, won with class.
Yes they did. And they keep getting underestimated. I love it.  :)
 13.
Somewhere in all the smoke blowing and general BS, seems as though some of the thin skinned folk, seem to think someone questioned the "heart" of the Vidor Boys. Not sure where that came from but whatever, I guess you must really think your boys are the only team in the Region with "heart". Well I got news for you, Vidor doesn't hold sole posession of "heart" in this equation. But it takes more than just heart, heart will only take you so far. Been watching to many "Rudy" re-runs there Sparky. We'll see who has what it takes come next Friday. Prove me wrong, please do, and I will be the first to admit it. And a few pages back someone asked who I am....well partner, I'm the guy that is easiest in the world to find, because i don't hide on a keyboard behind some fake name, use your google skills amigo, I'm easy to find out about. My youngest is a Senior on this team, and I work with most of these boys very closely, on and off the field. I played the game for many years at all levels, and have the knee surgeries to go along with it. I love the game, and the kids that come out to play it. I teach them to play the game hard, safe, and clean. May the best team win, because no matter the excuses, the best team wins on any given night. Turnovers, injuries, brain farts, whatever, it's all inclusive and reflected on the scoreboard when the clock runs out. Good Luck come Friday......
You really don't know much about this team do you Mark? Vidor was picked to finished 7th in there district. They finished tied for second. They were picked to lose 8 out of there 10 games. They won 8 out of there 11 games. They were picked to lose when they played Crosby by 14+ points. They won by 20+ points. Every singe week this team has proved everyone that has doubted them wrong. On October 16th they lost there best friend, brother, teammate, and friend and have dedicated this season to him. This Vidor team does not quit. EVER! Its just not in there vocabulary. They don't comprehend the word. I can guarantee you that there is no team in the state that puts as much heart on thursday/friday/saturday nights as the Vidor Pirates.
 14.
Since my team had a very unfortunate and unexpected end to their season, these are the teams that I am pulling for in the playoffs. Vidor, Ozen, Coldspring, Newton, and Dayton's kicker.
8)

 16.
Something that hasnt been mentioned much is Vidors pass defense. Havent seen them in their later games, but against Nederland they blanketed our receivers... Could be the difference
I agree. Our secondary is amazing in there pass defense. We haven't been the best in the district but we have held all the big passing teams to under what they usually get passing wise.
 17.
I agree with you. Time of possession is probably the most underated stat in all of football. It's a pretty simple concept help you're D out by simply keeping the other teams O off the field. However you don't have to be a running base O to control the clock, you can accomplish the same thing with short high percentage passes to move the ball. The problem with Vidors style of O is if the ever do get down by a decent margin early, it is nearly impossible to come back. Other than that it is a very effective offence that doesn't require outstanding talent, just great execution. Personaly my favorite O is the pistol. It is very versatile, you can be a power team, you can be a spread team, you can run counters,  options, play action, and pretty much everything else. It's the best of both worlds. It provides the ability to have a vertical running game in between the tackles, instead of the side to side perimeter running game used in the traditional spread. Then it is easier to pass out of then going under center. I belive you will see this offence a lot more in the future at all levels of football. There are simply very few drawbacks to this offence.
I'm not so sure about that. We were down 22 to zip in PNG and we almost came back and beat em. Scoring 14 points in like 4 or 5 minutes. And we also scored pretty fast in the Livingston game. IMO that's what special about Vidor's team this year is even though we run a grind it out smash mouth offensive scheme we have the ability to score and score quickly if we have to.
 18. Can anyone give me info on the Mont runningback. I've heard house is out.
 19.

Next year we need to let 19-4A play the teams from 20-4A who DIDNT make the playoffs. We can have our own little 19-4A toilet bowl. It can be played out in a cow pasture in Fannett.
And still, there is one 19-4A team that proves to be too much for any 20-4A team over and over and over.....
except lumberton  :o
