[/quote] Just out of curiosity, and with absolutely no disrespect meant to Newton, how did the passing game go in your scrimmage against Buna? I saw in a previous thread that Newton only attempted 8 passes against Silsbee and completed 2. BC is adjusting to a new team without some key players from last year. So far they appear to be a balanced attack between passing and running. The defense is certainly holding their own so far as well. BC knows they will have their hands full with Newtons rushing attack, no doubt. Newton will also have their hands full with BC's balanced attack that will force Newton to respect both the pass and the run. If Newton is one dimensional and does not pass enough to keep BC from stacking the box it may be a smashmouth kind of night. BC must keep turnovers down and finish drives if they want to pick up a win. This has the potential to be a really good one. Looking forward to seeing the backs from Newton that are so highly touted, they will surely be a tough test. [/quote] One reason Newton people did talk was because you continually ran your mouth about our coach Barbay and how he had done EC wrong. You done this with quotes attributed to him that were inaccurate and what he did say was the truth! After beating EC in the first round of the playoffs easily (55-not much) he was asked how he felt about his team and he replied he didn't really know because they hadn't played anyone any good yet. EC wasn't any good that night. Now EC has beaten Newton two years in a row. The first year was a week after Coach Barbay had died. Not much emotional baggage on Newton's sideline that night, huh? EC has had a good program and love the fact they have made it into the playoffs 17 straight years. Good thing. Not great. Newton can trump that streak and add three trips to the state title game during that streak and winning two of those games. One each in 3A and 2A. EC can not come close to matching that. So before you launch off into accusing Newton of running their head and EC taking them to the wood shed, you should look into your own soul and see what drives you. I'm going with Newton by 14 based on Bride City losing a lot to graduation and Newton losing a few.
