Don't misunderstand dog52, I know they won't compete with Ozen or Central but I'm not sure what Dayton has coming back.If they can compete with them they have a shot because LCM,Vidor,Lumberton and PNG will all be to close to call.

How many coaches did WH lose? I heard one of their football coaches went to Warren, is that true?They seem to have a big turnover there every year.

Mart has lots of atheletes that go on to play at the college level,playing at the Waco schools wouldn't be a problem.I think EC and Mart will be a heck of a game this year and we'll probably get to see it about 3 weeks deep into the playoffs.Both are very well respected programs , good luck to both.

They weren't bad at the skill positions last year, they got in trouble with there blocking and tackling.They will be better this year.If they play up to there capabilities they could go 5-5.

Nederland will improve in there 2nd year under the new coach.They seem to play well as a group from what I saw this summer.Pretty solid big guy and some pretty decent shooters.That may make them a playoff contender.

I don't see sabine pass playin BS,HD or Spurger within 20.WH will be down this year but I don't see Sabine Pass beatin them unless Copeland doesn't play.Sabine Pass probably goes 2-8 in this district.Nothin against the Sharks but the first 3 teams in this district are gonna be pretty good.

They may want to get that way before they pla Big Sandy,Hull Daisetta ,Spurger or West Hardin ;)

Silsbee is gonna be real good but HJ is gonna surprise lots of folks.If you overlook the Hawks you'll be in trouble.I think we'll see this playout in the Montagne Center in February.

Spurger will be well coached and Phillip Whittaker will be a force inside.If some of the returning outside guys step up they will be a playoff team.Even with the best of freshmen if you depend on them to start at the varsity level your usually in for a long year.They will also miss the big Sheffield kid who played the post.I think it will be a battle between them and HD for second.Big Sandy wins this district in my opinion.

EC wins at home, but Buna goes in to that game 3-0.They should really be pumped.Probably will be the game of the week in 2-aa .

If the officials were locked in thats a training issue.When a foul is called underneath and the official comes out to report the trail official normally goes underneath thus swapping the lead and trail positions.Not sure what constitutes a foul when a kid is undercut,sometimes the player driving iniates the contact.I know I saw one under cut this year at Kountzes Summer Leauge and the official said it looked worse than it was ??? ??? ???.It looked like the kids haed was the first thing that hit the floor.This is probably a topic for another thread.HD has always been a rough place to play,I do agree though it doesn't matter as long as it's consistant.We have had some really good games there over the years.

I think Hardin graduated several starters.Warren should be in the thick of things this year.They have several returning starters and some big hitters who were not elgible last year who will fill some spots this year.

My point on the ends of the court is officials change positions through out the game.You don't have officials locked in to lead and trail positions for an entire half thus killing the argument that one team gets calls one half and the other team the next half.I have watched a lot of games in HD and I think they tend to let the kids play a little rougher over there than the officials in the Beaumont chapter,not saying it's wrong , you just gotta adjust.

I hate to shoot your theory down Mr Reality but the ends of the floor has nothing to do with the officials.HD does normally get the benefits of the call at home,but probably not anymore than anyone else.

Both these teams win at home,HJ wins in tiebreaker at a neutral site.They meet again in Huntsville for a trip to the drum : : ::)Where can I get my tickets?????

Actually this wasn't a summer league game,it was one of the hoopinsider tournaments.And it wasn't HJ'S summer team it was the SETXSLAM,it happened to be mostly HJ players that day because their post player was playing for West Brook(Marcus Malbrough).The team was entered as WB varsity,the JV played Barbers Hill earlier.The SLAM won by 3 on some late free throws by Warren's Paul Sims 63-60.I don't know who would have won last year but this coming season I would like HJ'S chances if they could contain Marcus,he is a player.Everyone is writing HJ off without Donahoe and thats a mistake.In this particular game Burrell and Sungren didn't play.

NO!!!!The simple truth is both clubs will be better because they are a year older with almost everyone returning.Coach Henry and Coach Foster are both very good coaches,as I said before Henry did more with less talent the last few years than just about anyone.With that being said Big Sandy has a real good post player and alot of depth at the guards.They will win that district this year with Spurger and HD battle for the next 2 seeds.It won't be fair to Jason to judge him by whether he win's district or not,he could do a great job and come in 2nd.I think BS and Spurger matchup better than BS vs HD.Whitacre vs Big Sandys big guy will be worth the price of admission.

I don't think anyone matches up with EC for the title, but I think the game with Warren will be a good one simply because Warren will be pretty fast on the defensive side of the ball.That being said I don't know if the Warriors will score much on a tough EC defense.Playing in Winnie is worth at least a touchdown,I say 28-18 EC in a real tough ballgame.If anyone challenges I would have to say Buna has the best shot.Anyone of the top6 in this district have a playoff shot.

The best thing about freshmen is if they study they get to be sophomores.Very tough to go from Jr Hi to the varsity level.The Whitacre kid from Spurger will be a player but his brother will be the one to watch this year.Future looks bright however in Spurger.

You are absolutely right Lazeek, I hadn't even thought about Clay.If Lumberton could get him it would be a steal.They may not beat the big 2 in that district but they would play as well as they were capable of playing.

Theres some pretty good coaches at the 1-a and 2-a level in southeast texas.I feel for the Lumberton kids,Jason had them working hard and starting to believe in themselves.I hope they get a quality hire,but it sure is late.

I've seen a lot of coaches who actually liked having the parents there.In those programs you have no trouble seeing that the coach is in charge.Those coahes are usually the head of some very successful programs.Some of the very best in this area coached the dads that are leaning on the fence.

Its hard to beat speed and HD has alot of that.You don't realize how much you miss those good seniors ball players until there gone.I think its HD's turn this year.

Jason is an excellent coach,probably has done more with the talent he has had the last 3-4 years than anyone around.I would hold off on the tickets to Austin unless Foster leaves Big Sandy.This is a great move however for HD,not sure why acoach would want to move from a 4-a job back to 1-a job????He had a pretty sweet deal goin at Evadale.
