Nederland always talks big but never delivers.
I'm not trying to stir anything up, but Ned's starters did outscore WOS 26-13..
We go through this every year in August. Nah, of course you're not trying to stir up anything.  ::) Jake had the right take on this. Both teams had a good showing and some building blocks to start the season thanks to last night's matchup. Still... ...it was a scrimmage. WO-S did not play their "1st team" against Nederland's 1st team. I know you're looking for a moral victory of sorts to pat yourself on the back as if Nederland "won" something. But, be real. It was a scrimmage. There were no kickoff or punt returns. Special teams are part of the game. WO-S was auditioning two non-starters at QB. The starting tailback, who we expect to have a big season, played defense most of the time. We moved around several players to different positions on defense because we have only two starters back from last year. The guys you saw with white helmets instead of silver ones...at least some of those will be on JV this year. The coaches did not have to prepare a game plan for this. Maybe Nederland played their first team in the first 3 quarters and not in the 4th. Big deal. It doesn't matter. I'm sure Nederland's coaching staff were experimenting with at least a few players, as well. Sum it all up...it was a scrimmage. WO-S had one more point than Nederland. So what. This was an audition for the coaches to evaluate players. A real game would have looked different because of all the items I just listed. Sorry if you feel bad about "losing," but you didn't "lose" anything, and WO-S didn't "win" anything. If WO-S were to play Nederland in a real game, I like WO-S' chances, but we won't get to see that. Both teams had a productive glorified practice last night and we'll never know who would win a real game. I'm content with that. I'm looking forward to more scrimmage work next week against Vidor, then the real thing begins against LC-M. I expect Nederland to win their district. Best wishes to you guys.
I actually feel good about the scrimmage. WOS is very athletic and tough. I was not expecting to much from Ned being their first action and fresh faces. WOS is a very good team that should make some noise come playoff time. Good luck to them the rest of the year.

But Ned will be in trouble facing the in the last game because if this will jell it should be by then. So I predict them being 9-1.
By week 10 Ned will be jelled and be going into playoff mode. Also with the better coaching, and winning attitudes, Ned will be very tough for Central in week 10. Probably harder than PAM because they'll have no film on the new Jags, by week 10 Ned will know the in's and out's of Central.
Everything you said could be right, but then again I know Ned has good coaching but so does Central now. With everyone thinking Ned will just have a cake walk to be DC, I don't think so, this will be the game to be at on that night. If we are not playing for a playoff spot that night, you can bet I'll be there. Good luck to Ned as well ;D
We all know that this game will determine district (unless you're a Vidor homer).
Go ahead ram. Please keep underestimating that Vidor ned game.
Not underestimating one bit, I just know that we'll win. Central vs Ned will be for the crown. Central will go all the way through the district unbeaten until the Ned game. Whoever wins that will be 20-4a champs

 5. Buddy, how are you going to call Ned a Darkhorse when you have them losing two district games.

Are you saying what I think your saying? ;D Or is it the "V" word?
I would not doubt that he's talking about PNG. He is been on their bandwagon the whole time.
Could be talking about Vidor, but thats been in the making anyway. He can have the Keys to our Bandwagon...Beating Ned and making the playoffs...priceless :D
Well It would be tough for either team, both are playing in Ned. Vidor just has that attitude that is so tough to handle. PNG is not winning this year, starting next year and beyond who knows.

 9. I don't know to much, but I do know that Central returns a lot of players, favorite this year, Ozen is always good, and Ned will be good with Weisbrod and Toon leading the team.

He was injured his first game last year and returned to play CB. If you haven't heard of Morse, you will in the future. He may be young, but more than makes up for it in talent.
The main thing I saw of Morse was his running ability. He would just bulldoze the opponents, then burn them deep. But he will not bulldoze varsity guys, and likely not faster than most. Walker just isn't big, if he takes to many hits he might be done.
Ive seen most of his freshman games. Hes very quick on his feet, and he thinks fast. This was just as a freshman. Cant wait to see him on varsity, and once the rest of that freshman team join him...20 4a might have a new DC.  ;)
PNG's sophomores are the only class that has success against Ned. Ned's Juniors and Seniors just smash them. So if you think a handful of sophomores is going to dethrone the 2 time defending champion with more talent returning then everybody else, you're highly mistaking.

 14. It's gonna be a high scoring affair. But with how bad PNG has been on defense last year and projected this year, It'll be hard to keep up. A turnover or two, and some three and outs might hurt them really bad.

 16. Were we ranked this high last year during pre season?
 17. Only possible win I see is LCM. Other than that, doesn't look good for Lumberton.

 20. Don't see it happening this year. They're on the right track though. They are going to have a good number of sophomores on the team that have never tasted varsity action. QB situation dragging out, and questions all over the defense. This year I see them progress and get some experience, next year is when they start to compete.
Oh hear's the old history thing.. What happened 20+ years ago has nothing to do with the now.. All I've seen of PNG in the past few years is very mediocre teams that are all hype. Just like this year coming up, PNG MIGHT win 3 games this year.. And that is a maybe.. Lumberton and LCM.. everybody else is better than PNG right now.

 24. 1. Nederland - until they are dethroned. 2. Central - most talent, new coach. 3. Vidor - tough losing your heart and soul of the team, but they will fill in. 4. Livingston - darkhorse, underrated, solid team this year. 5. Ozen - talent, matters how they use Tony Brown. 6. PN-G - on the right track, might beat Central or Vidor if they sleep on them, just a year away. 7. LC-M - haven't heard anything from them, lower levels didn't have success either. 8. Lumberton - new coach hopefully wins a couple this year, might finish ahead of LC-M
