1. Two teams coming off tough losses. It just comes down to how well the coaches can make adjustments and how much the kids want it. History favors Dayton in this series although the last time BH beat Dayton was at home in 2011. I think BH lost last week against a bigger, stronger, faster Crosby team, not because BH had a bunch of fumbles or mistakes. They just got worn down as the game went on; much the same way BH defeated LCM.

I'm going to have to go with BH in a close, low scoring game, comparatively speaking. I think BH will be able to control the line and eat up the clock on offense, keeping the ball away from Dayton. Of course all that won't make a hill of beans if Dayton can score quickly with the passing game ( see TAMU v Rice ), Rice had twice the possesion time as A&M.

2. Rain might benefit BH by limiting the passing attack of Crosby. Our corners give up too much space and always have. BH will play Crosby tough. I hope they come out overconfident and cocky. The only real positive thing I have to say is I am happy this is the last time I will ever have to drive to Crosby.

3. Barbers Hill has been running what Coach Gage calls the flexbone since he arrived in 2010. As a former running back, I love it. It may not be as exciting to those of you who enjoy thr spread, formerly run and shoot morphed into shoot and run, but it has been fairly effective. I think we will go 8-2 or 7-3 at the worst this year, providing we don't have major injuries to key players.  Hope I don't have to eat my words at the end of the season.

4. Lets be honest. BH scheduled a couple of patsies this year. Our district schedule will give us a tough enough time with Crosby and Dayton back to back. These are good warm up games. But Silsbee and LCM is like TAMU playing Lamar or Baylor playing Buffalo and Samford last year. The only way LCM will be in this game is if BH beats itself. Not likely but I guess stranger things have happened.

As for you SIlsbee fans, don' take too much solace in the fact that BH is in 5 A this year, as they are the smallest, if not one of the smallest 5 A schools in the state. You wern't beaten by a big 5A powerhouse. Good luck in your district though. Y'all just need to practice some more.

5. The Silsbee O-Line had some huge players. When I saw the left tackle and left guard I thought all they would have to do is run behind those two guys. Our defensive line was so much quicker it was no contest.

We didn't give up much yardage between the tackles. Don't know where Pabees is coming from

What LCM needs to worry about is an offense that racked up more than 400yds rushing.

1.SC
2. Crosby/BH/Crosby

SC like won track with A.Sharp running some crazy 21 sec 200 or close to that.
Crosby has the twins and have had our number but we know what to expect. If we play our best kids the whole game it should be nose to nose.
Dayton has athletes, always do. Always do. Losing is not going to happen often for them.

KP- the only game I saw you play was against us and where was this tight end in that game? Did he play? Our D was all over KP and our first score of that game come from D. We stuffed them all night and they got 3 points after a long bomb and right before half. That was their offense. I am not going to say that you can't beat us but show me something. Hahaha we went to punt in that game and Denny looked and all KP turned and ran back to block and he took off and got the first.... Sorry just thought about that.

I was very impressed with our defense against HF. Although they are 3A our first team didn't allow them a 1st down I think. On offense we looked a little rusty. We will need more consistancy. The young linemen will need to grow up quick. Tough to lose 3 yr. all district starters like Knotts and Bergstram on the OL.

As for Crosby, I don't know how to beat them as long as they have the Walters'. Too much speed and quickness for us so far. Crosby could unravel and beat themselves I hope. Sometimes they seem to lose discipline somewhat. However,  if those twins are healthy it won't matter. Guess we will need to bribe the refs.

I still think we take KP as they don't have what it takes to overpower us. That is how we will win again this year.

SC will pass at will. We will need some breaks, but anything can happen.

Dayton is always scary and there is no better feeling than knocking them off their high horse. I still remember the 54-0 debacle in Gage's 1st year. I don't think that will ever happen again.

Anyway, I've got us 4th with another 2nd round trip to the playoffs if we can keep key players healthy.
7. I don't believe Denny will let BH down by not playing football next year. He is a three year starter already at QB and he, like his dad (head baseball coach), is fiercely competitive.

Kaleb gives us the best chance to win district.

My concern is with the offensive and defensive lines. We lost two all district OL in Bergrstrom and Knotts, as well as Reggie Rodriguez on the DL. Those guys will be hard to replace.

We are deep at RB although Nick is a big ? at this time. Those young RB's are still growing and getting faster.
8. Our defense is peaking at the right time. We have yet to beat a team with a really good spread offense. However, judging from the scores by the teams that have beaten them, I like our chances. Hopefull Coach Gage will finally put together a defensive scheme that can win and beat the likes of Ozen(last year), (Crosby and Summer Creek) this year.

Congrats to The Hill! Wish PN-G coulda sent you packin' but we're playing with the round ball now  :-[ ...For real good job!

Congrats to Livingston on a great season! All the best.
I hope PNG makes it back to the playoffs next year. Since I live vicariously through my football playing children, I would like a rematch, a do-over, if you will. This goes back to my playing days in the 1974 Quarter Finals at Lamar stadium between PNG and Baytown Sterling. PNG won, of course. PNG has beaten BH twice since 2010 and it is time for our luck to change. So until that day comes, I hope you are winners.
10. In 204A it looks like there is Nederland, Vidor, and then everybody else. I thought we were playing New Caney for a while there. We have a good team but not a great team. Livingston was just really weak on the line of scrimmage, both ways. Our defense was very impressive tonight. Another shutout as I predicted. I am sure Elgin will be a lot tougher!

Stats, stats & more stats. Throw out your JV games and the story is much different. The battle will be won up front. Whoever wins the LOS will win this game. Not sure if Bh has as good a defense as Nederland or Dayton or Vidor, but we will see tonight. Not sure if Livingston has the offense to knock off the vaunted BH defense, but it has the tools to do it. Unique combination of power and speed in Livingston. The outcome is very much in doubt. Coaching could play a huge role in the outcome.
I would have to agree that the game will be won or lost on the line of scrimmage. That was a battle we have only lost to Crosby.

Lions have only been held under 21 twice. One was without Collins and one was versus Nederland. BH is not Nederland.
No, BH is a team that has beaten Nederland the past two years. Our defense is better than Nederlands. I will be suprised if Liv. scores unless it is on a special teams play.
13. I was looking at the team stats for SETexas and BH is around 4th or 5th in just about everything. One thing people should realize is that in every game we won( most of them blowouts), coach Gage played lots of 2nd and 3rd string players in the 2nd half. Otherwise our 41 pt. avg. per game would have been even more. It also gives me a lot of confidence in our backups, and their experience, if they are called on to get the job done.
