1. Montgomery should bounce back after the loss to Brenham and I'd look for a statement game against the Wildcats. I'd look for the Bears to open the playbook up for Josh Bolfing and throw it around a little more to prepare for the playoffs. A win here for Montgomery guarantees a playoff spot and their schedule only gets easier. Willis desperately needs a win and a little help to reach the post season and this isn't likely, they have had an extra week to prepare for the game but I don't see much of a differant outcome.

2. Your right 87, the biggest problem I had with the game last night and the biggest problem I have always had with John Bolfing is that he is too comfortable with second place. He waited until late in the 4th quarter to even try to throw the ball, he didn't give the passing game a chance to have success. Y'alls corner was very impressive but if I were Bodhi Bell I'd be pissed that he never had a shot to be a factor due to his own coach calling dumb plays and not giving him the chance to make one. I realize Josh is a young QB but you don't mature as a passer when you don't get to throw the ball. Yet again Bolfing gets out coached by Glenn West. This has been the case over the last few years, even during that long playoff run against Friendswood when we had the athletes to potentially win a state title.
3. Brenham has not faced a team that runs the ball like Montgomery does, period. They are coming off a win that was expected to turn out the way it did, Willis isn't exactly a premiere team, and it turned into a good tune up game. There is a two headed monster in the back field for the bears in Linton and Allen both are homerun threats from anywhere on the field and trust me Montgomery will have a few tricks up their sleeve.
4. Whatever the reason, West vs Montgomery and Waller vs Brenham were rival games, and sure yall could've beat them by more and we routed them at home, just like we could've beat Mag West by more and y'all beat them by 22, you were there and you know we had a couple td's called back it was just a bad game for Montgomery every team plays at least one off game per year.

I'd have to agree with aggie, sometimes it takes a second to get the offense going but when they get goin it's very very hard to even slow it down much less stop it. They can and will run through and around you and if ANY of the backs get daylight I have serious doubts that they will be chased down by anyone. The passing game isn't prolific yet but it is good in a sneaky way. We have playmakers in every reciever spot and like the backfield they can run too. This game should decide the district crown and whoever wins will have a playoff spot locked up reguardless. I believe in our district you have to win at least 3 to 4 games.
5. Sounds good BF. I would have to agree with you on the margin of victory but I think your reason for picking Brenham to win is the reason why they might not. They thumped a Waller team y'all had trouble with and turned the ball over 4 times. When you dominate a team like that and still make mistakes your can correct and combine that with the added motivation of playing Brenham at home you get a very hungry team. The running game and weapons Montgomery is bringing to the game this year is scary to say the least and unlike any Brenham has faced this year. I think Brenham is probably gonna come into the game with the mindset that its Montgomery and history is on their side and if indeed that is the case they may be in for a very rude wake up.
6. Congrats on the Brenham win I think everyone knew how it was gonna play out. Now on to this week, I'm glad yall got a tune up game and everything clicked yall looked like the Cubs of old and Willis well they looked like the Willis 18-4a has always known. The Montgomery vs Waller game turned into a route early despite 4 turnovers by Montgomery they still handled the Bulldogs fairly easy rushing for 359 yards and taking an ensueing kick from a Waller field goal, Herbert House took it 99 yards. Overall they made Waller look like a JV team up front. Brenham will need a great performance by the d-line this friday and some help from the linebackers and secondary if they're gonna stop the Bears' run game. Defensivly Montgomery will have to play bend don't break defense and stop the big play, if they do that Brenham might have a lot of problems on the 12th.

7. Thats a good point BH, but I would have to say after what we witnessed last week Waller may be in for a very very rude awakening I think they saw the score and have already tried to size the Bears up based souly on a bad game with a rival. Bolfing will correct the mistakes and the Bears should roll Waller up and spit them out same as last year. But stranger things have happened.......
8. Coming off a close game with Mag West I saw a lot of things Montgomery nees to improve on, but I think they grew up a little at the end of a close hard fought rivalry for homecoming. Montgomery went into Waller last year and blew them out 40 - 14 so I'd expect more of the same this year. I think Bolfing and his coaching staff correct the problems we had and put the Bulldogs down. Waller is coming off an overtime loss to Willis which isn't a very good team in 18-4a.

9. They know they don't have as much talent and they know they have to work for it. That's why I don't see a slip up this year.

This year's Montgomery team definately has just as much if not more talent than the team last year, they are just young, and without a doubt as a team they are much faster especially on offense, and as we all know speed kills especially slower teams like Mag West so that statement doesn't hold much weight. They overlooked Mag. West last year and lost because of this so I don't believe that will be an issue this year. They've grown up a lot this year after playing two top ranked teams in the state and last week they looked even better especially Josh throwing the ball and their sophomore runningback Paul Allen looked like a seasoned player running the ball. Montgomery will win by as much as they want to, and the fact that it's homecoming just ads to the fire.
10. Don't let Brenhamfan's statement about the district fool you, just because it is considered a "down year" doesn't in any way shape of form mean that 18-4a doesn't have the talent to go deep in the playoffs, yea there's a chance to be swept but there is also a chance that we surprise some folks and sweep a district as well. You forget that there is some good coaching in 18-4a and teams that never quit and thats all it takes.
11. Giving Mag West 17 points is a little too generous. They are coming off a win against Willis but thats not saying much. Montgomery's offense and defense is starting to mesh and weed out the small mistakes that plagued them against Angleton and Dawson, I'd look for Montgomery to make a statement early and send a message to the rest of the district, they may be young but they are good, and believe me they remember the loss last year.

12. Montgomery also scrimmaged the #2 team in 3a in Navasota. The key thing is that Montgomery came out of those games without any serious injuries and they didn't get blown out which tends to give young teams the confidence that they need. I will get with you on game day, I will be going to the game but I'll be coming from work to the game so I'm not too sure when I'll make it there.
