  1. You cannot just use this scrimmage as the big idea of what BC will be like this year though. Obviously they had to of played not to their potential because i've heard way more in store with this team. Coaches do not pull out all their plays in scrimmages, coaches try different groups of people with different groups of people, and I know there is no way that the starters played this whole scrimmage. Give coach Stump time to work with the players still, we got a long time until district and still a week before the first game. But i still think HJ is going to beat BC. 8)
  2. Was this a controlled or game type? Either way, this is not the BC team I was expecting this season. I am sorry, but Shepherd is not very good. thats exactly what i was thinking. I'm just going to guess that BC did what HJ did against Hardin and kept their starters out after a few drives on offense. If BC couldn't score even once against Shepherd, they need to do alot of spicing up. kept em out a few drives? they must kept them out the entire game to let Shepherd beat them! History tells the story that Shepherd is not very good at all. Good enough to prevent the 3rd place team in 21-3A from even scoring...pshh

  5. HJ also had 2 fumble recoveries...Hardin turned the ball over like 4 times. one was by the visitor side and one was by the home side when the receiver caught the ball then HJ's helmet hit the ball straight into the air.
  6. Don't think this couple had a football son, but a couple recently moved over here towards the Beaumont Hardin County region to escape possible hurricane damage in the BC area again. Best of luck to all areas of SETX, especially BC, that no one gets hit by the hurricane this year. 8)
  7. That is the good thing about the beginning of the season. Everyone is in line for the state championship. I dont know about everyone but definitly alot of teams feel as if they should be.
  8. Definitly not. If you actually watched 7 on 7, you would know its helping to perfect timing of the quarterbacks, route running by the receivers, and breaking times for defensive backs and help understand coverages. This is mainly for the athletes during the summer to have some fun and learn more about football. People do get injured cause collisions do occur and you have no football gear except a mouthpiece. So I disagree
  9. For sure. I'll definitly admint that i was wrong if we lose to BC. you got my word.
  10. I saw construction on the visitor side of the stadium recently. What do they plan on doing over there and will it be done in time for the first home game?
  11. and if a receiver doesn't want to get tackled below the waist when hes catching the ball, all he needs to do is drop his hands and not catch the ball and pay attention to where he is going. Thats what seperates the good receivers from the great ones. The ability to catch the ball in traffic and make a big play.
  12. You seem fairly sure. We'll see how sure you are when HJ finishes playing BC in the first district game.
  13. Its what HJ did last year for 2-a-days and the players agreed on doing it again this year. they did well against Diboll last year in scrimmage so I think what they do over there is right.
  14. Having Great catching ability is definitly the number one factor for a receiver. However, the receiver needs to be soft spoken and needs to build a good relationship with the quarterback. Another key is laziness. If a receiver is coming off the line walking on plays that the team is running the ball, that doesn't help the receiver on the plays that he needs to explode off the line of scrimmage and run a route. every play needs to look as if the receiver is about to run a route so the cornerback cannot notice when the play will be a pass or run. In highschool, I would say receivers are more for possession than big plays, so the two main factors are Hands and Blocking.
  15. its going to be a great year in 21-3A. However, like i said, key injuries will probably be a major factor in every single game this year no doubt. No team can afford to lose a few of their top players and still have a sure and secure victory. In the BC/HJ game, IMO, it will depend on how many big plays either team lets up, key injuries.. AND ANOTHER HURRICANE!
  16. Both Teams last year in week zero made plenty of mistakes as well though. just because cleveland finished better as the season went on, doesn't mean they'll be as efficient as they were at the end of last season. However, HJ's secondary is very quick and their passing as well will be a huge threat next year.
  17. Nobody said they were worthless, just not that important to a team's success. Yet you say they are not "that important". They impose some importance to every team.
  18. Don't get it wrong though. There are kids busting their butts out in the sun and working hard just-a-bout everyday. Those are the athletes that progress to college. The ones who complain of the sun or who are "sitting in the house all day" are the ones who probably don't care about the sport after highschool. The college athletes today are better than the ones 20 years ago no doubt about it and those are the ones putting in all the hardwork and adapting. Just because there were more children in the 80's doing hard work in the sun, doesn't mean that there aren't any today working hard in the sun either. A little passion is all that is needed! Leave the football season the way it is and leave the complainers on the sidelines where they should be.
  19. I'm going to predict the unpredictable and say HJ gets 2nd place in district 21-3A. ;D
  20. I think Football Fans do play a role in a team's success. You wouldn't like to be playing at home and look over in the visitor stands and see they have 20 times as many fans as your team does. That could make you mad and play more aggressive, but getting mad also plays out for mistakes as well.
  21. HJ has a great secondary and passing game. They are looking great at 7on7 and they will do well in state. I don't think BC is going to get third because BC runs spread and HJ's secondary stopped Kirbyville's passing game in 7on7 and Kville went to state last year. Putting the pads on is a different story however. We'll see how it turns out. Like i said, Key injuries can hurt any team this season and can be a major factor for practically any team in 21-3a.
  22. Just wondering what teams around the region qualified for the State Tournament in 1A-3A
