  1. Sorry I hope even if they could make their own network that it does not - and I mean A&M.   The LHN sent the Big 12 into a tailspin as teams left and others wanted too due to the network - I think that a conference network would and is always better than a individual team network in almost every case.
  2. I will give you your point - I was trying to limit the comparison to the State of Texas but that still leaves in many transplants from LA, Mississippi, Florida and other SEC states - quite likely unfair.   Dang that left a bad taste in my mouth - agreeing
  3. I will admit that being an Aggie during 70's and 80's was a hard cross to bear - Texas ruled the State and Nation during a lot of those years.
  4. Yes - I do.  You and others are the one's that are stating that Texas rules the State of Texas - so please note the "In Texas" part of my comment.
  5. Again - a comment about the SEC in a post about the SEC - man that's odd!
  6. And the numbers posted were per game not an accumulation.  Texas had less Average viewers than 11 of the 18 SEC Schools.  Not my numbers.   The numbers were from all major TV and cable stations.  I guess you would need to add the viewers from the LHN - but last I heard they were well short of 3 Million needed to catch A&M.   I guess I am still thumping my chest - sorry.
  7. baddog,   This is a thread about the SEC network started by a Texas fan in an attempt to mock the SEC.  So that makes the thread about the SEC.  All I stated was that it might be a windfall for Texas A&M.  I guess you just have to mention that fact that you are in a conference other than the Big 12 and that constitutes "thumping your chest".   You are the one trying to make this about Texas A&M.  Just a continuation of you A&M infatuation I guess.   That is the exact reason that I did not mention that A&M was No. 2 on the viewing list just behind Alabama on the viewing list with an average of over 3 million more viewers per game than Texas.
  8. So they were watching SEC vs SEC?   Does it make a difference?   And I do the same - but watch A&M and Texas Tech (SFA if they are ever on) - and then if there is another good match up might watch as well.
  9. You can question if this makes senses or not - or if the network will make money or not - but the facts speak for themselves.   The SEC is the most viewed conference in the country and it is not even close:   3,805 Million Avg. viewers per game - SEC (# 1) 2,920 Million Avg. viewers per game - Big 10 (# 2) 1,625 Million Avg. viewers per game - Big 12 (# 5)   SEC has 6 of the top 10 viewed teams in the country with the Big 12 highest team being Oklahoma at number 16.  Just an FYI Texas was No. 26.   Will every subscriber watch the network - likely not - but lots and lots do watch.  This could be a financial bonanza for SEC Teams and might be the financial windfall that Texas A&M needs.
  10. Talking about the Longhorn Network?  :P
  11. I am not a Texas-Ex but I think it is interesting that Texas fans (some) are throwing Mack Brown under the bus.  He did not fair well during his last years at Texas and that is a fact - but he still won a NC which Texas had not done (if I am right) since Darryl Royal in 1969 and was No. 2 and lost the NC game just a few years later.  That was better than anything since Fred Akers had them ranked 2nd, 5th and 4th during his tenure of the 70's and 80's.     I have stated and will continue to state (until proven otherwise) that the Texas football program is having to deal with the "new world order" of NCAA football and athletics in general. The Texas days of ruling the State of Texas and in a lot of cases the nation I believe are behind them as the programs of Baylor, Texas Tech, A&M and others are closing the gap on what Texas athletics can and does provide.  Texas will be back but the year in and year out domination of the State of Texas - I believe - is over.  Even Baylor is fixing to have a top of the line football stadium built - even if it is smaller is will be top of the line or so I have read.  Then A&M with its upgrade will makes its facilities almost if not equal to what Texas has had for years.
  12. Sounds like a little jealousy to me!   I willing to wager a small amount the SEC network has more viewers in Texas than the Longhorn Network - will have to wait and see.
  13. ^^^^^^^^ We will see.  I think that Texas has a lot more problems than A&M at this time.
  14. I think that is funny.  When the conversation was about Aggie's in trouble it seemed that every post was about how the A&M football program was doomed to fail - by TEXAS fans
  15. While I like it and hope that Texas A&M does that well or better - this will be a tough year for the Aggie's schedule wise - just hope the new QB and defense can step up.
  16. Listen - I am not a Strong hater - look at my post I have always stated that (1) Texas had a good man and a good coach in Mack Brown and I wonder the benefit of replacing him; (2) that Coach Strong appears to be a good coach and will - if given the complete chance - turn the Texas program around.  It is the hate from some for Sumlin that makes me wonder what he has done - other than make A&M a team in the national spotlight (is that due to JFF or the program only time will tell) - to make people question and ridicule his every decision.     I happen to agree totally with Eagle11 that none of us outside the athletic programs know what is going on.   Paramamyers - I admit when you stated "Sumlin and Strong are polar opposites on this issue I took that as an insult to Sumlin - if not then I apoligize.  But this appears that Strong is more willing to work with some "troubled" players as well.  And truthfully I think that is a good thing.
  17. Sooooooo - Kicking players off and then reinstating them in less than a week still makes him a "my rules of the highway kinda coach" - I think it makes him just about the same as other coaches and not the holier than all other coaches that Texas fans like to believe.   If this had been Sumlin reinstating a player within a week of dismissing him - regardless of the facts (that none on this forum know) you and your supporters would be noting the weakness of Sumlin and the lack of willingness to kick top notch players off the team - but in coach Strongs case i guess it will be justified by his supporters as just and extension of his values.    Fact is all this may show is that Coach Strong is more like every other coach in the NCAA and understands to win you need athletes and if you do not win you are gone.  And in a lot of cases dealing with top athletes means dealing with issues.
  18. I did not know that the Longhorns spout off about the Big 12 - really what is there to spout off about ?
  19. Rookie QB and questionable defense lead to a 7 point loss - 24 - 31.   A&M plays better on defense then last year and rookie QB has decent but not great game - overall I expect A&M to look better than a lot of people expect.   Hope I am right.
  20. Wait - Did not Baylor schedule Lamar in 2015!!!!   Big 12 - Big 12 - Big 12!!
  21. Wait - my memory has all the sudden gotta a bit hazy - 27 - 25 you say?    Yes I do remember.
  22. ^^^^^^^I have a long term memory problem - only game I remember is A&M 41 and Oklahoma 12  ;)   Yeah and Oklahoma's pre-conference schedule with the might powerhouses of LA Tech and Tulsa has us all in admiration of who they schedule.
  23. Have not heard about the 4 Star Florida WR.   Otherwise things have been quite and he has gotten 2 - 3 Star - players recently.   Texas I think will get their fair share and end with a bang - if they have a decent year.
  24. That's ok TxHoops keep enjoying wins over those powerhouse programs of Kansas, Iowa State and West Virginia - in conference.  I will enjoy the cupcake non-conference schedule and the tough SEC schedule and hope for the best.   I have been and Aggie for a long time - and yes I have followed Texas A&M and Texas and remember the days were A&M was the red headed step child of TExas - but you are like most die hard Texas fans and keep wanting to relive the glory years of the 50's, 60's and 70's - A&M was at least as good if not better than the Texas program for most of the 80's and 90's then Texas took back that title in the 2000's but so far the 2010's A&M appears to be leading.   I laugh because I remember the years that the Aggie anthem was "Wait till Next Year".    But what I believe and have stated many times A&M (as well as Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU and others) have all closed the gap in both money and reputation to the mighty Texas.  As I have also stated Texas will be back - is that with Strong or another coach? - as to when time will tell and will it be sooner of later I do not know.  But it will be harder and harder for Texas to repeat the glory years before the 1980's where they were the dominate team year in and year out not only in the state of Texas but the nation.  The money (resources) of which Texas ruled - and still does to a degree - but now it has become closer and will be even closer when the SEC television money starts rolling in.    I will always find it funny that Texas fans like to point out the 7th place finish as an insult - when the fact is that A&M even finishing 7th was a better team than Texas - I always wonder what would Texas record be if they played the SEC schedule that A&M played - I think that likely it would have been much worse the 8-4 they managed in the Big 12 - but as always we will never know it's all just yak and yak between the fan bases.  But I LOVE IT MAN.
  25. So that's the reason that the article states that they were involved in a sexual assault - sorry I could see how that could be mistaken for drugs!
