  1. You can watch the Championships Saturday on Fox Sports GO. They should be free.
  2. The scoreboard is still active. You have to follow the UIL twitter page to get the link for each game.
  3. It's a new rule that was implemented this year to protect FT shooters since sometimes players go in to early to block out. It's discussed during the pre-game meeting with both captains. A player cannot contact the FT shooter until the ball hits the rim. Same with the FT shooter going in for a rebound before the ball hits the rim. I just went back and watched the video. In this case the Kountze player did make contact prior to the ball hitting the rim. At the end of the day it's up to the ref. There were a lot of questionable calls from the onset of this game. Since I started officiating last summer I watch the game totally different than I used to in the past. One thing I noticed early on was there was no consistency in their calls. They called it tight on one team and loose on the other. It has to be the same both ways. If you're going to call it tight, call it that way on both sides. The same way if you're going to "let the teams play." I'm trying to find out what chapter the officials were from.
  4. Turning point that halted the Kountze comeback... Teague up 72-67 and at the line for 2 FTs. Shooters misses both. Kountze gets the rebound. Refs calls "foul" on a Kountze player for blocking out the FT shooter too early. This was a new point of emphasis for officials starting THIS YEAR and a rule that many fans wouldn't know. The Kountze fans were pissed. IMO it was a bad judgment call and had no bearing since the FT shooter didn't really try to get the rebound. The rule was implement to protect FT shooters. The call is counted as a common shooting foul and the FT shooter is awarded 2 additional FTs. In this case the Teague shooter made both of the additional free throws.
  5. These are bad, horrible, calls. You should never have a foul count discrepancy that bad to start a game off. If you're calling tight it would go both ways.
  6. And for the record, you had 6 Seniors last year, although your two Jrs. did lead the team in scoring. A team that "supposedly" returned everyone shouldn't lose that many games early in the season. Stop the madness.
  7. Here's the thread from last year. [Hidden Content]
  8. I believe you said this exact thing last year, except you were a little more confident then. You have no idea who Kountze has do you? You seem to forget the Kountze starter who got injured in the first minute of the game last year. He's back. You also didn't have the pleasure of playing against our 6'4" post guy Michael Cole. He didn't play in last years playoffs. He's back. Good luck. This is your 3rd shot to get past the Semi-final round. The 3rd times a charm, right?
  9. Lol! Tell me about it. Also see where Tyga Edwards was named 12 Star Athlete of the Week. Still not enough coverage... Smh!
  10. Yes! They are some big, husky kids. Their post player was 6'6". They were a Sr. laden team this year.
  11. Went back and watched the 4th quarter. As someone said earlier Barker took over that quarter for Kountze scoring 9 points. It was his running floater (and 1) that cut the lead to 1 that probably ripped EB's heart out. What's more interesting is he played nearly the entire 4th quarter with 4 fouls. He picked up his 4th foul right as the 4th quarter started. A few notes: Kountze trailed 61-46 with 5 mins left in the game. Kountze went on a 17-3 run over the next 4 mins to cut the lead to one (64-63) with 1:11 left after Barker's floater. Kountze used a 10-0 run over the span of 3 mins to cut the lead from 63-51 to 63-61 with 1:18 left. EB had 4 consecutive turnovers over that timeframe. Kountze's first lead in the game (66-64) came with 48 seconds left after Carey's corner 3. EB only made one FG in the 4th quarter.
  12. They didn't clear it last year. The gym is big enough to hold everyone I believe.
  13. At 2 mins it was under ten. They trailed 63-54 right at the 3:49 mark.
  14. Fundamental team on the outskirts of Austin. Picture this year's Buna team with two additional athletes. I always wonder how they keep getting back to Region 3 though. They're really a Region 4 team and if they were in their correct region they would be a lock for the State Tournament.
  15. Teague did not lose much from last year. They brought back their two of their top-3 scorers from last year including leading scorer Mylan Shed #21. IMO he is their best player because he can play inside and outside. Weathers is mainly a 3pt guy. If you remember the game last year Teague was not afraid to take the ball to the rim against us and if it wasn't for the late heroics of a kid named Grayland Arnold we would've lost. We will need to limit their open 3s and rebound to win this game. We can't afford a slow start or the road will end Friday night. A good omen.... Kountze has won 16 straight Regional Semi-final games.
  16. Joubert has pulled a rabbit out the hat with this team. I don't think anyone (other than the players) thought they would still be playing at this point in the season. This reminds me of the 2012 run when a similar Kountze team upset Edgewood in the Reg. Semis and almost knocked off #1 White Oak in the Regional Finals.
