  1. Do you know who and when Kelly plays Thursday? What is the format of the tournament?
  2. Kelly played two games at the St Louis tournament Tuesday Kelly beat Plainview 52-36 Kelly lost to Mansfield 63-52 Kelly plays Ferriday today at 3
  3. St. Louis had a player, last name I think was Hardy (#20), that Kelly had no answer for.  He had 36 points last night.  Kelly was led by Taylor Pace with 21 and Josh Kern with 15.  Kelly takes on Plainview at 2 today.
  4. I seem to recall that you guys were missing a pretty good player for that game.  Besides, I'm sure ya'lls kids would like another shot at us.
  5. It wasn't pretty in the first quarter, but we got our act together and played pretty well after that. Hey Bluedove, my other son plays for the St. Anne 8th grade team.  Sure would love to play HF this year.  We need some more games.  Can't get better without playing good competition.
  6. Clare is big, strong and athletic.  He has good touch around the basket, but we don't really have anyone to challenge him.  He is just to big and strong for our guys.  I would say he is 6-8 250 or so.  His stamina is much improved from last year as well, as he played the entire game last night.  We play them at Kelly on February 1st and 7.  Come check him out.  They have a really solid team, but luckly they are not in our district. As for the game, Kelly was down 21-4 early in the second quarter, but fought back to cut the lead to 36-26 by halftime.  In the second half, we cut the lead to 5 a couple of times, but that was as close as we could get.  Overall, a great effort against a tough opponent on the road.  However, Kelly's lack of depth is going to be a problem all year as we had three kids play the entire game.  That hard to do when the other team subs in and out the entire game. Really a good game and on to LCM Friday at their place.
  7. FPHS - You do realize that the kid that you said should have been on the 12 man roster, his dad was a coach in the league.  The kid that got the last spot on the team is being raised by a single mom and he was not on our "select" team.  As a "fan" I'm sure you new that.  Kinda shots down you arguement. As for your last post, I'm not going to respond because I don't know what your talking about.
  8. FPHS - Those kids - b.c., d.d., q.m. were alternates on the team.  I said that there wasn't anyone left of the team that would have changed the end result.  I stand by that statement.  I wasn't even considering the alternates, as none of them played.  The kid with the broken arm was really a broken thumb suffered in spring football practice the first two weeks of May.  He meet the minimum playing time by one game.  We didn't want anyone protesting that we had an ineligible player, so we checked to make sure.  a.h. had a very good year and was considered for the last spot on the 12 man roster.  It was a tough decision, but we chose someone else who was a bigger stronger kid that had a hot bat at the end of the year.  We felt he was more capable of driving the ball for extra base hits.  By the way, he hit a huge home run in sectionals to start our rally to beat ORWALL in extra innings.  Oh, and neither one of those boys were on our "select" team.  In fact, one of the kids on our select team was left off the 12 man roster because he didn't have a very good year.  He was named as an alternate.    ASM - When All Star practice started we had 3 boys on a boy scout camp out.  It was a killer.  But when they returned they made every practice and as far as I can remember no one else missed more than one practice, and most of the boys didn't miss a single practice.  And I was at every one of them.  but I don't remember seeing you there.
  9. FPHS, I'd love to know what talent was left of the WELL All Star team last year.  That core group of boys won district as 10's, 11's and 12's.  As 10's they went to state and as 12's they went to the sectional championship and lost to the Bridge City team that won state and was one game from the little league world series.  There wasn't anyone left off that team that would have changed the end result.
  10. Didn't ruffle my feathers. Alot of people go on boards and state opinions based on nothing more than what they've heard, but if you have seen both teams play and that's your opinion then that's fine. I'm not as impressed with Ford as you are and I have seen him play a couple of times. But you are obviously entitled to your opinion. And I do think both teams have some very good players.
  11. Lazeek how many private school games have you been to this year or is this just blanket statement because he came from WOS? I don't see where he came from as a issue at all. How many times have you seen Kelly and Cathedral play this year? Just curious what you based your opinion on.
  12. I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say Pace plays a little dirty. If by dirty you mean tough in your face aggressive defense, then maybe he is a little dirty. But I've never seen him do anything I would consider dirty.
  13. You say Ford is the best of the group, but remember Kelly beat Cathedral by about 20 points in early January and I don't remember Ford doing much in that game except turning the ball over. He was out of control alot. He must have played better in district for them. That's the only time I saw Cathedral play, so maybe he had a bad game. But I would think head to head should count for something.
  14. Kelly plays Plano John Paul at 4 this Saturday at Kelly
  15. Kelly played St. Pius last night in Houston. Kelly won. Score was about 55-49. Matt Pace had 17 and Torri Henry had 14. Kelly's next game is Tuesday at Kelly against St. Thomas.
  16. How can you drop Kelly from 6 to 8 when their only game this week was a closer than the score indicated 9 point loss to St. Thomas (it was a 4 point game with 3 minutes left)? It was a very good game by the way but got no coverage at all because it was the same night as the HJ vs WOS game. This is the same St. Thomas team that beat #3 HJ by 19 points 4 weeks ago. The same St. Thomas team that I believe you said there was no shame in HJ losing to them because they are a nation power. They are a very good team by the way and they come back to Kelly on Tuesday, February 13. They are good enough to compete with every team on the area list, big school and small school.
  17. Good list and yes everyone has their own opinion, but I have a question. In your first list you had Matt Pace from Kelly at 22. In this list he is in the others section. He has played very well all year for Kelly. He has been their most consistent player all year. In some games he doesn't score a lot of points, but he always plays great defense with 6-8 steals and 7-9 assists. He is being forced to play the point a lot more than earlier in the season, so his scoring numbers have gone down some, but I think he is still the most important player on that team.
  18. I noticed that Jarred Williamson from Vidor is on the list twice at 17 and 21. Maybe you could give one of those spots to someone from West Hardin so they will quit raggin on YOUR list.
  19. I have seen almost all of these kids play this year with the exception of West Hardin and Barbers Hill so I can't speak for them, but I think the list is pretty good. Of course everyone has their own opinion and bias, but the only way to put together a good list is to see the kids play. Stats don't tell the whole story.
