1. Since all of the district 38 slots and all of the district 43 slots are on opposite sides of the bracket, the "date" could only happen in the Regional Final, and I am expecting Midway to be the team lining up against Friendswood that day. But, heck, get some of your injured kids back and see if you can capture some lightening in a bottle.  To quote Tug McGraw, "you gotta believe."  ;D  As for FHS, it's not terribly hard to re-load when the school is full of really athletic girls who grew up playing highly competitive club soccer.  Like I've said before, there are lots and lots of Premier and D1 soccer players in every grade down into the junior high school.  Heck, this year, a bunch of seniors who grew up playing Premier/D1 opted not to play high school soccer, and the team has hardly skipped a beat (The same thing happened to the volleyball team this year, and the FHS girls still made it to the Regional Final).
2. FYI, the PNG girls are ranked #5 in Region III in the recently released Region III coaches' poll.  It seems like the squeaky wheel got some grease.  ;)
3. Given all the time they get to spend with the players, high school coaches do have the opportunity to make a big difference in developing both individual skills and team play.  At the 5A level, that has begun to happen with more frequency over the last decade or so.  However, with some exceptions, the 4A level still has way too many caretaker coaches who cannot do much to help, and sometimes do a lot to hurt.  I smiled when I saw the comment about Friendswood.  Although I obviously agree with the assessment, it has always been a great example of the problem.  The Lady Mustangs are annually blessed with too many Premier & D1 players to fit on one team, and they generally can win on talent alone in Region III-4A.  And, they generally play a pretty rugged schedule outside of district.  However, when they get to the State Tournament and face eqally talented teams from the Dallas area, there is always one key ingredient missing.
4. From the arrogant Friendswood fellow, congratulations to Kelly!  I for one am looking forward to seeing them take down St. Agnes this year!
5. Sharkie: To be perfectly clear, in Region III-4A girls soccer, its really the big One.  Waco Midway is the clear No. 2, and is about the only team capable of upsetting Friendswood (as they did last year).  After that, Brenham and several others are fighting for No. 3.
6. Sharkie, I'm not picking on you, I'm just asking -- what happened to the PNG girls this weekend?
7. Yes, neophyte, we know the boys did.  But, of course, you didn't (until you got put in your place and looked it up); which is what makes it so funny.  Think about it........c'mon........good, now you get it.  ;) You inserted yourself into a discussion about girls soccer teams, and even quoted my post about the Lady Mustangs scrimmages, to gleefully ask how "they" (meaning the Lady Mustangs) had done against Pasadena Memorial.  Oh how proud you must have been to post that one, and oh how crushing it must have been to find out that your little dig had blown up in your own face.   ;D :o ;D
And how did they fare this weekend against Pasadena Memorial at the Friendswood Invitational?  Just sayin......
As hard as it is to do, it's always better to think before sayin Newbie.... The Lady Mustangs did not play Pasadena Memorial, and did not play in the Friendswood Invitational.  Just sayin.... ;D
9. Thanks westy, but keep on hitting the negative Karma points.  My goal is to be no. 1 in that category!  ;D

11.
I thought that the rankings were once again a HOUSTON popularity vote...and that the Lady Indians deserved to be #4 behind Brenham!  They have already earned that respect in week 1...Cant wait for the rest of the year....
babyteeth, you are gonna be fun to pick on come March.  First, Midway is not a Houston team.  Nor is Friendwood or Brenham.  So, why would you say its a HOUSTON popularity vote. Second, when was the last time a SETX girls team did anything to deserve respect.  Third, PNG has had some okay scrimmage results against some okay teams, but there are at least 6 teams in the Region that are way better than you injuns.  Fourth, beating GCM and Angleton does not earn you the respect you are craving.
12. I am a huge soccer fan, but the fact is that it's soccer, and it's generally cold and/or wet until later in the season.   Even at Friendswood, which has the premier girls program in the region, and one of the top boy's programs, it is hard to get big crowds out to the early season games.  Working with the local clubs does add some numbers (and interest that feeds the program) and it helps to have local newspaper that covers the teams (we have the Galveston Daily News), but you can't expect a coach to organize all of that.  The bottom line is the kids have to play for themselves -- be successful and the payoff comes in the playoffs.
13. Humble was better than Montgomery.  Montgomery has not seen an offense close to as good as FW.  Dobbins will get his yards, but Friendswood wins this one by more than 20 points.
14. It's now 5 days and counting for HUM398.  Hmmm..... And, nutbreath, psycho or not, my predictions are almost always right, and on those rare occasions when I am not, I come on here and admit it.
15. Agreed hammerhaed.  You have finally seen the light!  Now, WHERE IS HUM398?  It's been 4 days now. It would seem he is not quite the stand up guy all his friends say he is!
16. Wow.  At least Hawkeye came back here after the thrashing and owned up to it.  Where are HUM398, Bronx Rox, and the others predicting (hoping is more like it) doom for Friendswood.  I love it -- when the ship sinks the rats are the first ones to bail!!!  ;D
17. Final score is Friendswood -- 35 Humble        -- 13 Where are all those fabulous Humble fans and FW haters now?  But, hey, what do I know? All Hail the Mighty Mustangs!!
18. Nothing makes me feel more confident than having Soulja pick against Friendswood.   And, as for you Roxy, you might want to mix in some spelling and grammar with your anger management classes.  And, be careful what you wish four -- all four 24-4A teams are still alive in the playoffs, and your boys are about to get to see the Best of the Best up close and personal.  As far as I can tell you have a lot less going for you than all the rest who came before you predicting wins against the Mighty Mustangs, and left whining and crying.....
19.
Friendswoods going to be a tough test, but i like the way we match up with them.   They have a great offense that is centered around throwing the ball, and a sub par defensive unit. They play more into our strengths then into our weakness.  At least this week, we will have the speed advantage.   Tough to say, got to watch some film on them (if i can get some).  Ive seen them twice this year, but it was at the start of the season.  Good teams tend to change and fix the problems after game 4 or so.
A classic post of the ill-informed.  Friendswood will win by 14 or more.  I love it when fans assume -- I wonder why -- that their teams will be faster or speedier than Friendswood.  Ask your SETX buddies at Dayton or Central about making that kind of assumption, or ask the folks at Dawson, Manvel, and LaMarque.  Truthfully, Humble would be no better than third in district 24-4A.
20. Alas, poor Hammerhead, your jealousy is so transparent.  Fortunately, in Friendswood we know that having Hammerhead pick against you is better than carrying a 4 leaf clover in your pocket.  ;D
21. Apples and oranges.  For starters, Stratford had their no. 1 QB for most of the game vs. Friendswood, but not at all vs. Montgomery.  Also, Friendswood had a number of people out with injuries in the Stratford game.
22. I've seen all of them play, and Dawson's O is definitely much better than Montgomery.  Manvel and La Marque are closer, but still better than Montgomery.  Actually, Montgomery reminds me a lot of Angleton -- very dependent upon one player.
23. Friendswood beats Montgomery by at least 10.  All due respect to Brenham, but Montgomery has yet to see an offense anywhere near as good as Friendswood.  And Friendswood's defense may not be as good as Brenham, but Montgomery's offense is no better than Dawson or Manvel or LaMarque.
