these refs were from the Houston Chapter, I believe, but certainly not Beaumont.

[/quote] Soulja, I did and I think you hit it pretty well...wish I would have thought about it, we could have met...the Smith kid from Central is and will continue to be a real good player...he has the rare ability at this level to create his own shot...Nederland was horrible at the line last night until the end, when it mattered and Nederland's defense was very solid, particularly in the second half. As for the refs, I cannot say that this was a well called game and it cut both ways...I hate it when a ref makes it seem like we are there to watch them rather than the kids...one in particular was too much of a grandstander for my liking and loved drawing attention to himself...give some guys a whistle and they seem to think they are a king or something...enough of a rant from me but i hope I never see that guy again.

Close game in first hafl that saw Dogs up by as much as 9 only to see Livingston finish with a 12-0 run...strong 3rd for Livingston but Dogs came thru when it counted with and inspired 4th...great free throw shooting down the stretch, especially from Cunnigham...several guys stepped up tonight with solid games...great effort and big road win for the Dogs...officiating was, well, I will not say anymore...one of the refs in particular must have thought we were there to watch him as he probably called 100 fouls in three games...mostly ticky tacky stuff and then allow Forney to be completely mugged underneath in the varsity game...granted, bad calls both ways

no big shock here...I have always felt that coming clean earns you more respect...he has done this now and it is time to move on...I suspect that 70-80% of MLB players during the 90s were juicing...they bear some of the blame as does the league itself for doing absolutely nothing to stop it...think about it, if you are competing for a job with someone who is taking juice and you are not and one of you is going home after spring training and there are no rules against it, would you take steriods?  MLB should have stepped in, they didn't and now it's over...time to move on because you cannot change the past, only learn from it.

he made a pretty big one against png...forney was overpowering inside against lcm and Kelvin Smith played huge when he came in as well...Dogs had a huge third period to make what was a close game at the half into not much of a contest...as mentioned before, Nederland was up about 20 with 2 minutes left when the starters were pulled...Dogs have Central on Tuesday which should be a real good one.

Great come from behind win for the Dogs...they won despite a horrendous first half, playing on the road, and minus a key starter who returns for Friday's game...big win for the Dogs that showed some 2nd half character.

gotta get the ball down the floor before you can get it to the big guy...Nederland doesn't have alot of experience in the backcourt this year, but they will improve as the season wears on...the notion is to be playing your best basketball during district, not preseason.

Great to hear, but not surprising given the coaching staffs of both teams...this will be an interesting rivalry for a few years to come...heck, even the freshman game had some respectful hard hitting in it.

heck of a player...I was impressed with him last night...he is always around the ball and often times was asked to cover more of the field than a typical linebacker

Lumberton's program has come along way, but they catch grief when they open the season with all the hype and "district champion/dynasty" talk...this is exactly what people mean when they tell you to win for more than 2 seasons before you start talkin trash...2 good seasons do not a dynasty or top flight program make. Their kids do play extremely hard and with their growth, I am sure they will have some more good seasons ahead, but maybe now you guys can appreciate how difficult it is to be in the mix year after year like the Nederland, PNGs, and Centrals of the world are...i think this makes 13/14 years now for Neumann and company...that is pretty impressive IMO, none moreso than this year.

Unbelievable the turnaround this bunch has made...it is truly a testament to their character...certainly not the best Nederland team ever, but dang sure one of the most memorable...true guts and grit and to say we are proud of this group would be an understatement...outstanding job by the kids and coaches alike of overcoming tremendous adversity all season long...keep it going guys...this is too much fun to end right now

[/quote] Good point, bru...the 00 team IMO was the best Nederland has had although they did not win Region III like the 01 team...the 00 team lost that heartbreaker to Bay City after outplaying them entirely, only to see BC go on to win state...the 01 team was a bunch of overachievers who got extremely hot at the right time and played with tons of guts to win Region III

Hard to give you too much credit after some of the statements you have made on this thread, but OK...I will give you the benefit of the doubt...Nederland will need someone to step up at the WR position with Brady apparently out...Brady and Forney really had some nice chemistry going so his loss will hurt...I still think the Dogs can pull this off...Nederland 27, L-town 20
