I think this game will be closer than everyone thinks... Both teams like to hang on to the ball and control the clock. Ned is good, but I dont think they are what everyone thinks, they were not contested last week. they played a Crosby team that was not ready: new coachs, new style, new line. The Off were not ready for the stunts that the Ned D line gave them and the qb seemed flustered. When they get some experience Crosby will come around. I dont think Ned Off is that good. Crosby's D did not play bad, Ned really had one really good drive. the rest of the points was when the Off had really good starting positions, (27, 42). that is why Ned went up so quick. Ned did not score the second half when their starting field pos was on their side of the field. I dont see Nederland putting up alot of points... if GCM can keep starting points on their side of the field...IMO GCM - 21 Ned -14
Well, they were on Crosby's 7 at the end of the game , and chose not to punch it in. Also went for a couple of 4th downs to burn clock rather than punt it away. They went pretty conservative after in the second half after being up 21-0 at half time.
really?? they only went for 1- 4th down and were stopped, the rest were quick punts. to say they were not trying to score the whole second half is crazy. they were only up 14 in the third, and any team with athletes can score quick. and I am sure your coaches knew that. Yes ran the ball more the 2nd half, to hold on to the ball and run the clock, but still threw. (8 plays in the 3rd, 3 of 8 were passes.) but that is Nederlands game. they might of put up another at the end of the game, but no need to. by the way the game ended on the 12 not the 7. I just don't think Nederland can score at will. I think they need good starting positions. I dont think they will put up a bunch of points.... JMO... Everyone on this site talks about the D. not the O. and for good reason.. D will win them games.. I think this game comes to field position. GCM has a great back, and have been in the same O for a while. they control the ball. just like nederland.... I dont see this game being a blow out like everyone predicts... I see this game being very close
It was not 14-0 in the 3rd of the Crosby game...Nederland scored on each of their first 3 possessions and it was 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter...this game was ever in doubt and never close -
Quietly, Kolby Couron leading Nederland defense
nope. I don't think Crosby moved the ball much after the TD .
...or before for that matter ;) -
PORT NECHES-GROVES AT SILSBEE BROADCAST/PNG wins 21-20!!
Razor replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I am certainly not a png fan but this qualifies as a little bit too much kid bashing for my taste...16/32 for 150 is far from a bad stat line...I didn't see the game obviously, but it sounds like he did a solid job -

Koby has been a really strong performer for Nederland and had a great game in the opener...keep up the great work, Koby...just one of a stable of really good defensive linemen and linebackers on this team...this Nederland defense has a chance to be one of the best the program has seen in a while -
Goose Creek Memorial @ Nederland Predictions

I suspect that both teams are better than they were last year...they certainly got their fair share of looking at each other after a scrimmage and 2 games...I will go with Nederland, 24-14...Nederland's offense is better than people think...they only threw one pass in the second half against Crosby because they simply didn't need to throw the ball...Raines started the game 8-8 in the first half...and the defense....well, they are pretty dang good -
If those are from the Enterprise, I am not real sure where they are getting their numbers from...they had Raines with 96 yards passing which is incorrect...he had 143 yards passing...they also missed some other stats based on what I saw...I hope that they are going to be more reliable than that for the season

Baptizing a sophomore QB against WOS D is a really bad idea

CROSBY AT NEDERLAND BROADCAST/Nederland wins 21-7!!

Most of that was on two plays in the second half.
All I can say is Crosby must be terrible because Nederland really sucks.
says the guy whose team can't play past week one of the playoffs...you are a total clown...watch the game befroe you comment...like I said in the other thread, come watch us play in the playoffs...you won't have anything else to do -

Well BH15, I'm glad you don't think Crosby needs an OL, cause after watching them on film it doesn't appear they have one. By the way, doesn't every team have to outscore its opponent to get the win?
Well, I hope you don't think Nederland has a defensive line. I saw Dayton toy with y'all a week ago. From what I'm reading, some of your better players are banged up on the defensive side of the ball. That's not good for the Dogs cause y'all were already going to have trouble playing in space with Crosby. Now you have guys hindered with lower limb injuries which is going to most likely mitigate the leverage advantage Nederland would have in the trenches. I see a Barbers Hill guy say the twins could be "contained". Well, the twins had the Barbers Hill fans ooohing and aahing in Mont Belvieu last year in front of a record crowd. Maybe he wasn't saying BH contained them though. As far as scoring goes, good luck. That receiver got behind Dayton twice but other than that, nil. Going to be hard to keep Austin under 200yds if that front seven isn't one of the best in Texas as I saw one Dog fan post earlier. Good luck in health only, see y'all in a few days.
yep, Nederland's defense was awful, huh 14? Austin had well under 200

You saw Nederland minus as many as 5 defensive starters....come watch us in round 2 of the playoffs after your team is done
-
You're right 14....Crosby 50, Nederland 2
-
Akifan, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...Neumann would NEVER say that...you are just trying to start trouble

The second issue is depth, if we have a couple of injuries we could be in big trouble. Third issue is RB, smaller backs with average speed and an offensive line that's not getting it done means no running game. If we can solve these issues and stay healthy we will be tough, if we don't we will be in for a fight for a playoff spot.
Oh wait, you forgot you need a QB too. Not that that's important.... ;) Neither QB was worth a dime....
Dayton's Qube w/ be fine...you just worry about how crowded the parking lot will be at halftime on 10/26 when all the barbie-cue's are leaving with no hope of a 2nd half comeback... ;)
Uh, Dayton has a QB. I do think the back-up should start so you can put #10 in the secondary as a safety. I was referring to little-ned not having a QB.
you really are almost too dumb to reply to, but I will anyway...that QB from Nederland you are refering to threw for 2 TD's and about 250 yards last night with a pretty steady rush coming at him...he was good enought to lead us 3 rounds deep last year and I will take him on my team, any day -

one thing Nederland is not is deep and that was exposed last night when you had as many as 5-6 defensive starters not on the field...Nederland is going to have to be able to run the ball and STAY HEALTHY...we have not run the ball well at all in the first two games and this needs to be fixed...I have said it many times, injuries are part of the game and we have to be able to overcome them, so in no way am I making any excuses...great teams have to overcome that and Nederland has not up to this point...that being said, scrimmages count for nothing, so the results of these two scrimmages are meaningless If I had my choice, I would rather not have injuries at all, but if I am going to have them, I would rather it be at this point in the season instead of later...let's get 'em out of the way...Dogs will have their hands full with Crosby next week for certain. I still have faith in the Dogs and am way more concerned with how they finish as opposed to how they start -

Just have some injuries.
thats one thing...but if we're just resting starters, that defeats the purpose of a scrimmage Ned v Dayton is a great pre-season look at Reg III competition...would be great to get a few good series of ones v. ones
I hear ya honcho, but risking further injury to starters for something that doesn't count would defeat the purpose even more...this will give Neumann and co. a chance to look at some guys who may end up being to help down the line -
Bridge City??? How in the heck do they fit in to this scenario?
-
I predict there will be a scrimmage...you guys and your fascination with scrimmage results????

Why all the Nederland predictions?
Razor replied to phunter308's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I for one will stick to one game at a time...the goal right now is to get ready for Crosby in 2 weeks...nothing else matters at this point -
gotta hold onto the rock...Crosby couldn't do it that night and it cost 'em
