Well Huntsville has had some success against PNG, beating them in ‘18 and ‘19. However, it will be tough to do this time. It’s been a good run for a 5-5, 3rd place team to get to a Region Final.

Desoto isn’t small, but they were smaller than both Duncanville and Wax the last 2 years.

I think this is the 1st time Willis has had a winning record since 2016. They were 5-5 last year but no playoffs. Definitely rooting for Willis, but a win over Desoto would be shocker, even with Lagway.

I am hoping Willis, but Desoto is a tall task. I think Willis can score against anyone so there may be a lot of points in this one. Smart bear takes Desoto by 14.

No doubt. They are part of the PNG 12th man, so probably want to try and accommodate them if possible.

I think with all the newer nice turf high school stadiums in the Houston area, that gives these colleges a way out of hosting. When I was in school, our playoff run went Kyle Field, Rice Stadium, Baylor Stadium. The high school stadiums have come a long way.

When is the last time SHSU hosted a playoff game? It’s been awhile. They don’t want them either. Same reasons I’m sure. Doesn’t even have to be a holiday weekend, they will say they won’t have staff to work the game.

I definitely agree that Lake Creek is a little overrated with the 1 ranking. They look good and they like to run it up on bad teams. Their toughest opponent this season I’m sure is Richmond Randle. That was a pretty close game until LC erupted for 21 straight points in the 4th Qtr. However, Randle had over 500 yards of offense, and LC won the turnover battle 4-0. Huntsville also had a 17 point 2nd half lead after punching them in the mouth early, but their defense tired and LC got the momentum back for the comeback win. PNG needs to key on bowling ball Byers and keep him in check at the line of scrimmage. Don’t let him get a head of steam or he is hard to bring down. I think when LC meets the physicality of PNG, they won’t stand up. Wouldn’t shock me if PNG runs away with it. Wrong team is #1.
