I completely agree. It will be the non athletes that will be the problem with the merger. -

But those are direct quotes from students who attend and adults who have children in both schools. Plus why would a leader of the local NAACP chapter make those kind of comments if they weren't true? -

Exact record Football - Silsbee has beaten WO-S 3 times Basketball - WO-S has beaten Silsbee 3 times. You need to pic that mic up. Now if you want to talk about "way below .500 record" we can certainly do that and you will not like it. -
BISD Votes to Merge Central and Ozen beginning in 2018-19
AggiesAreWe replied to AshlyHasBeen's topic in High School Football
I find this part of the article very interesting: " Discipline concerns The number of students in close quarters also has raised questions about students' behavior and discipline problems. Many said Friday that they don't think the students will be able to get along. "Ozen students barely get along with each other, so I highly doubt they'll get along with Central's students," Ozen's Keller said. "It's going to be out of control with trying to keep the students at peace, and with them focusing so much on behavior, barely anything will get done academically." Ozen senior Deon Lewis estimated it would take two to three years after the merger for students to learn to get along. "There's too much bad blood between us," Lewis said. Central sophomore Diamond Gray said, "there's North End gangs and South End gangs, and they're going to fight." The NAACP's Jones said rivalries have been passed down at both schools from students who attended the city's older, now-shuttered high schools. "If some steps are not put in place to control that right up front, I'm afraid that we're going to have a real discipline issue on our hands." Jones said. "It's going to be a test, merging these two schools that go way back in the black community," said the Rev. Oveal Walker, who Frossard thanked Thursday for gathering community feedback on the merger. "These are two neighborhoods that have always competed against each other." This is in complete contrast to what JagInsider was saying about the two schools combining.
