Aggies have excelled with his offense because Johnny is that good. All these recruits coming in are doing so because of the excitement of playing in the SEC and the wins the AGGIES posted up. Just wait till  they get the wrecking crew in line.
Is Johnny that good or is Sumlin? Keenum's passing numbers dwarfs Manziel's. If A&M went 6-6 in the SEC Sumlin wouldn't be flipping all these guys. Besides Joekel and Matthews there weren't any stars on A&M's roster before he got there. Only kid besides those two A&M had committed that was a high school blue chipper is Trey Williams, Evans was a basketball player. It's clear Sumlin is a better coach than Sherman was but the real reason he's going to start dominating the recruiting in Texas is because the African-American parents in the state are excited to have a school to send their kids to that has an African-American head coach. Same reason the minorities vote in a landslide for Obama, doesn't make it right but that's just how it is.
Sorry coog.... i'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. It has nothing to do with having an african american coach. Its just the demeanor of Coach Sumlin as an individual. He has always been able taking care of business, and he does a great job of motivating he players to give their best every night. He doesnt pressure is players into feeling like the HAVE to win every night like BAMA & LSU... Also he has great supporting staff. Him being african american is just a plus...  ;)
Of course someone that's not African-American would say that. You replace Mack Brown with Kevin Sumlin and ALL of those kids he flipped stay at UT. What's the difference, they want to play in the SEC where most of these kids parents that come from disadvantaged homes won't be able to see them play more than a couple times a year? At UT those same kids parents could make it to 6 or 7 Big 12 games. I'm not playing the race card at all, I'm just telling you from a different point of view that its clear you don't think exist. Is it a coincidence that all the players he flipped are African-American? How else do you think he's getting these kids to come to a school where barely 3% of the kids on campus look like them and a large portion of those are athletes too? Tradition? The 12th man? They want to maroon out? My cousin was an All-American at North Shore and was recruited by UT and A&M. Said the two places as far as facilities and a place to live weren't even close, which is why he committed in February barely a week after signing day. What's changed, the Kyle Field seating capicity? If Sumlin was at UT or TCU he would recruit the same way he's starting to now and A&M's move to the SEC would have them 6-6. I bet if it was available Sumlin would ditch A&M in a hurry for a chance to go to UT, and I'm telling you that as a graduate of the A&M system. Old habits die hard down here for the African-Americans too, to think anything otherwise would be going through life with blinders on. I guess if you have never walked a day in those shoes it easy not to need a walking stick though.
Lol Actually i am african american sir.... That just shows your arrogance. I'm a LM alumni of class of 2011 football state runner ups... I've dabbled in the college football scene and as an african american, i've heard and seen it all. What your saying is no breaking news to my ears. But you basing their ENTIRE decision on the skin color of the coach, that sounds as simple minded as i've ever heard. You seem to be an older gentleman so not to be disrespectful but when i was being recruited by texas state the last thing on my mind was what color is the coach im going to be playing for ... These players are going to spend more time with their position coaches than anyone else. Non of A&m's coordinators appear african american to me so your claim lacks real thought.

 3.
Penalties and ints are gonna kill us! He needs to settle down!
And they call us undisciplined (la marque) ... Looks like WOS was having a rough night as well. Just saying we're not the only ones.
 4. i guess la marque was the better competition for Navasota after all... and we played absolutely horrible... i think it was about 10 penalties and 2 ejected played... still managed to put 20 and hold Navasota to their season lowest. Had we played a much cleaner game , the score would have been a lot closer. Good luck to Navasota , looks like you'll win it all this season. And WOS you are still a great team, congratulations on a good season.
 5. Texas a&m will run the SEC as a true competitor next season and not an underdog. Gig em

No bitterness in me, i can respect a better team when it presents itself but La marque is coming in will 100% confidence, we've been hearing how good they are all year but tonight they well have to prove themselves against the best competition they've faced thus far.
another great post by cougar2011, i agree. not saying nava isn't good or hasn't done anything, but they really haven't had to play hard against anyone. heck, the  coogs held a highly touted qb in check when they played and crushed st. pius x. battled a tough coldspring...twice!! handed a talented 4a texas city squad with ease. what has navasota done?? not being rude, but who did they play to actually say they are al powerful?? resume please!!
Let's do the math here.... Their stats support the theory that they are offensively unstoppable and defensively dominant. But when you multiply those stats by the weak level of competition... (excluding coldspring who held them to their season's lowest scoring performance) that in turn ='s "an average team". When your talented and well coached, your suppose to blow away below average opponents. It doesn't make you the best or unstoppable. But don't get me wrong, i like navasota and i like what they are doing over there.. I just think people have them TOO high and mighty in their minds. A blow out is far from what will happen, both teams are good. I could be mistaken, but we will find that out in an hour. This is the time for both teams to prove they belong.
 7.
Nav 41 LM 20
You seem very sure that Navasota will blow away and once #1 ranked La marque squad..... What do you think will be the keys for Navasota defeating la marque tonight ? i want to hear what gives you so much confidence. Don't just tell me how great your teams is and what you have done, i want to hear a game plan... any weaknesses you've seen in la marque that makes you feel like they don't stand a chance. Let's hear it.
 8. Wow... lol they play so much like our defense. (la marque) Except they are much better in coverage in the secondary, which is why i had them ranked right above us in my top 5 3a defenses this season. But they look like a lot of fun to watch. If we can't shut down Navasota tonight i know they will have a good chance at it.

I pick LA Marque 34 to 29
It could happen, but I doubt that LM will score 34 on Navasota's defense... The most that the Rattlers have given up in one game has been 16 and that was against China Spring. The final 6 points came late in the game with Navasota already up 62-10.
That may be, but China Spring doesnt compare by the slightest margin to la marque. La marque in't the amature teams that Navasota has seen thus far, Defensively we are the real deal. And offensively, we have enough speed and talent to get the job done.
 11. The FANS thnk Navasota only passes.... but those who have done the homework know that they have two great RB's in #5 & #8 .... #8 being the better of the two with a speed advantage. But teams have been making Navasota's offense look better than they really are with poor arm tackling. Not taking anything away from them, just saying what i've gathered from watching the limited film that i have.
 12. I wish i could make this game in person...... i've only missed 3 of the 12 games all season and this will probably be the biggest of them all. But i'll be on the daily news live updates from work. Must say, i feel like its me back on that field again in that blue and gold.... Very exciting. Hope everyone stays healthy, win or lose. But leave it all on the field.

We've done the homework and are well aware of what we need to do to win this game. I just hope if la marque should win or even if la marque should lose in a close one, that you not only respect our past tradition but respect the fact that we can compete with anyone. We've been doing it 2 years straight with 3A numbers in a 4a district. These 44 - 14 score predictions are ridiculous. This years race has a lot of excitement to it, and i cant say im disappointed. Just surprised.

The Mavs run the spread as well as anyone in the state, with some big time talent to boot. So believe it or not Navasota did not invent the spread offense & won't "shock" LM or their coaches. I think the Coogs have a good shot.
The 2003 and 2006  State Champion LM team ran the spread and the teams there after. I dont think its anything new. The secondary will be tested however. But only if the defense gives Navasota enough time to throw the ball....
My thinking exactly... i dont see Navasota have as much time as their use to having to get those deep passes off. But then again from what i've seen their QB does a great job of scrambling out of the pocket under pressure. I'm just wondering how many interceptions its gonna take to deffer him from throwing the deep ball.  ;D

We've scouted Navasota since the Sterling game. Its all just a matter over executing the x's and o's now...
 19. I love how spectators are counting us out in this game just because we let Coldspring get out early on us.... lol  ::) For those of you that attended the game, i'm sure you noticed we ran the same 10 plays over and over in different order. And CS couldnt stop it consistently. So why bothering changing up the routine ? The game against navasota this week will have its own identity. We prepare for every team differently. And last week was just a grind out type of game. All respects to what Navasota has accomplished this year, but please don't be so arrogant like some of your fans and think this week will just be a field day... because la marque is just not that type of team to be toyed with. It will be a battle very early... Your best competition all year, and ours as well. So may the best team THAT night win..
 20.
Lol what karma...... smh That's assuming Navasota makes it to next week... And if they do, thats assuming they make it there healthy.
 21.
I saw the highlights from the WC game. Wo-s couldn't stop the pass against a team that runs. If y'all meet La Marque or Navasota it's going to be ugly.
La marque is not as pass heavy as we were a few seasons ago... it's a shame. But we do mix it up every now and then, its just a heavier dose of running this year for some reason, may be personnel reasons, who knows... But i think WOS has proved just as much as anybody that they can compete. They just need to execute better and offense and defense. And La marque will have to play a lot better in the secondary this week to have a grip on Navasota this week as well.

We've actually done alot better with not turning the ball over. The penalties will still be an issue but i think when we prepare for the passing attack, as we did against West Columbia and Stafford, we hold our own. But no doubt it will be a test, their QB is a playmaker. We have a nice passing game as well, its just a shame we dont use it as often.
 23.
Navasota has brought the college style of playing to highschool football. A hurry up offense that throws the ball 25+ times a game. If your tean isn't in shape and or doesn't have DBs that can cover your in trouble. IMO La'Marque will presser the rattlers like they haven't been all season the cougs are physical and run to the ball well. Their problem will be points. I do believe they can hold Navasota well under their season average. But will it be enough in the end is the question?
IMO la marque plays the pass very well when they prepare for it, against coldspring it was all ground and pound the first game so when they came out the gate with the play action pass it got La marque off balance. But this la marque team not only has speed and talent, but have a very efficient coaching staff. And we adjusted just in time to take control of the game. I've watched film on Navasota and their QB can really make things happen when he is given time. But im not sure how well that will play out against our aggressive D-line and LB's... The only real threat i see is the La marque offense finding its groove and being able to consistently move the ball. This game should come down to the wire.
