1. So, how does Shelbyville match up vs Pineywoods?
 2. J-Dog, I didn't mean to take anything away from the Jasper win, not at all.  Jasper has shown tremendous improvement over the season especially the second half of district. They fully deserve to be where they are...just would have loved to see the game with everyone's best players there. Good luck to Jasper in the next round!!
 3. No, it was Chris Bailey....best player, team leader. and captain....and holder of a full scholarship to SFA.  Happened day before the game and pretty much wiped out the entire team. We just have to remember these are still kids and they will make mistakes. I just hope they learn from their mistakes and also that other kids see what happens when you do bone head, stupid things.  Very crushing blow for the team, families, coaches, and fans of Diboll basketball. The timing could not have been worse.
 4. Center is "looking forward" to Jasper coming to town Tuesday :o...I can tell you that.  They have some pretty vivid and not very pleasant memories of their last trip to Jasper.  Something about the clock and official scoring ??? If get out of Houston in time tomorrow may make the drive up to see that one. Should be entertaining.
 5. My hats off to Center. It is hard to beat a team you are fairly evenly matched with three times in the same season and especially when the third time is on the opposing team's court.  Got to give Center credit for a very good win. They have excellent team speed, good defense, and only lack a big in the middle to be a very fine team.
 6. Thats a good win for Jasper. Any road win in 18-3a is good. The remaining games are going to be interesting.
 7.
Diboll has Huntington,Center and Jasper coming up. Jasper has Central, Huntington and Center. Maybe a bye mixed in there somewhere.
The Center and Jasper games with Diboll are at Diboll and the Huntington game is away. The Jasper game vs Center is away for Jasper and Center is clearly laying for Jasper after that one in Jasper that was questionable.  Not sure where the other Jasper games are?  If they catch Central at their place,  that will not be an easy game and Huntington will be tough where ever it is played. Let the games begin!!
 8.
Meadowlark, I pointed out the fact that yall were in 3rd place not Jasper so every comment I make is not negative.  And the smiting thing is a joke.
If it is a joke, which it was not, why do I get a negative everytime you reply to my posts? Who is this "yall"  Sorry but I have not seen anything except negative comments from you...carry on and smite away again.
 9.
.... And Im not going to use bold letters...,
Now that's funny ;D ;D ;D  You may want to check your very next post for bold letters ;D ;D ;D.  Have another smite on me.
Jasper is VERY tough to beat at home. Four teams competing for the top three spots...and it does look like it may be Diboll or Jasper that gets left out...but Hudson isn't safe yet by any means...and Diboll has Center at home this round. Diboll lost to Center at their place by about 8 but went to overtime on a neutral court. That game at Diboll should be a great one to watch.  Its a really fun district this year and with the exception of one team very well balanced.
The Diboll/Huntington game tuesday will be huge for both teams. Huntington has to win and win friday at Jasper or they are toast.Should be a great atmosphere and a packed house tuesday.....I owe you a popcorn and a decafinated drink...lol
I'd just be happy to shake your hand....and you are right, it is an important game for both teams.  That at Jasper game will be very tough...keep one eye on the scoreboard, one on the clock, and have someone give you the play by play cause of the problems there. Its unreal.
 11.
Yeah yeah. Just shut your mouth. You were wrong. Lately you've always got something negative to say. Yes, Woodville only beat them by 11. Ok. You said "Corrigan will win..". Now obviously you were wrong. Woodville dominated the whole game.
Don't feel lonesome "Eagleswoodville". The same person dogs every post I make on this Forum and is always negative...and then brags about "smiting" me. You are not alone...keep up the great posts and best of luck to Woodville!!!

 13. Prayers sent. Sounds like he is getting the best possible care. We all pray for a positive outcome.

The second half will be even more entertaining than the first half which was great. If you like hard fought, competitive HS basketball, this district is your ticket. IMO Hudson is going to really be pressed to hold on to that first place spot and if J. Davis even misses a quarter in a game against the top teams, Hudson will be in big trouble. Hope to see some folks out at the games.
Lark, What do you think Diboll will do differently this game at Hudson? I saw the first game at Diboll. If Diboll can keep the turnovers down it will help.....seems that Hudson scored a lot of trash buckets.....should be a close game.
Yes, I was really disappointed in the kids effort in the game at Diboll. Too many turnovers, too many sloppy passes, and too many times they got out of the game plan. I'm expecting a much better effort and believe they will take better care of the ball this time.  If they can stick to the game plan, it will be a great game.  See you there.

You have been doing well as of late.....
Time to get off the bandwagon.....Hudson lost by nine.... ;D
Hudson will be very hard pressed to hold on to the top spot the second half, IMO.

 17.
Lloyd Christmas: "Whats the chances of a girl like you and a guy like me winding up together"? Mary Swanson: Oh, I would say ...abouttttt one and a million." Lloyd: "Soooooooooo, you're saying there's a chance!".........................lol....I think everybody except maybe Kirbyville still has a decent shot......There will be several big games next round. The Diboll @ Huntington game could be the difference for both clubs. meadowlark, where will the Diboll Center game be played?
The next Diboll vs Center game is at Diboll. Not everyone may be aware but Diboll and Center played in a tournament earlier and the game went into overtime and came down to the last shot for Diboll which they missed. Then as most are aware Center beat Diboll by about 8 in Center.  The teams are about as evenly matched as you can get. I usually figure home court is worth about 10 points, but of course that isn't always the case, especially with HS games. As I've been saying all this district season, road wins are what separate teams. If Center wins at Diboll, other things being equal, you can stick a fork in 'em cause Diboll will be done as far as top two goes. The Diboll win over Jasper was huge for them; that win offset somewhat their home loss to Hudson and kept them in the race.
 18.
Who do you pull for if you dont for Diboll(you said you had no allegience), it just seems most of your posts are for Diboll as mine and no looks are for Huntington?  And thats cool, everyone has a team they pull for.
I am a fan of basketball. It is one of my passions. I enjoy everything about it at all levels especially the NBA and  especially coaching aspects having coached myself some.  I root for good basketball, good sportsmanship, fair play, and good hard competition...the rest is just window dressing.
 19.
... You are biased toward Diboll because that is your team, that is understandable.  Look at this from the bigger picture...
You have your opinions and I have mine. I absolutely stand by my opinions and it is my opinion that Jasper, Center,  and Diboll all have realistic shots at finishing above third place in district....and also that, although a long shot at this point, each of those teams have chances at knocking off Hudson from the top spot. That is a big picture view and is not biased towards any one team...smite away.  ;D
 20. I dont know the inter dwellings of Diboll so I dont know if they know this or not.  We will see.  Im going to smite you for that remark, so take that.
Diboll coach does a good job of preparing....but I've heard that that you have to beat  the score keeper, refs, and time keeper to have a chance at Jasper.  ;D
All too true, no-look, all too true. It was a travesty.  Does that warrent another smite? Have at it.
Diboll coach does a good job of preparing....but I've heard that that you have to beat  the score keeper, refs, and time keeper to have a chance at Jasper.  ;D
As I posted on the "other game" link, Jasper has to watch just as carefully.  I personally saw Jasper almost lose 2 points because someone at the score table simply missed it.  A fan had to cross the gym and tell the Jasper coach before it was challenged.  I suppose that most score keepers (presumably human) could miss recording a score at any school.  That does not mean that they had nefarious intent. Perhaps the comments are accurate.  But it seems strange to me that the comments like we saw last week seem to come from the same team's fans.  In 2009 the same team posters had some strong things to say about how they were treated in football at Jasper.  So accurate?  Sour grapes?  Bad chemistry?  I don't know.  But I find it very reassuring that fans from other schools state here that they have not had similar problems at Jasper.
J-Dog, I was one of those who was willing to give the benefit of the doubt...but not after tonight's games. It was atrocious, the mistakes that were made in both the Diboll girls game and the boys game that followed.  I promise you it isn't sour grapes in my case...but something needs to be done. Far too many mistakes were made in clock management, score keeping,  etc. Far too many.
 22.
...  Diboll, Huntington, Jasper, Central all have a chance at the 3rd spot.
Disagree, at least in Diboll, Center, and Jasper's case. They are each shooting for more than third, I promise you that. If they aren't they shouldn't be out there. Hudson does not have this wrapped up by any means...they may well win it, but it is far from over. Those three teams are each capable of knocking Hudson off...and no way does Center have second wrapped up either. The second half will be very entertaining...and its wide open, IMO. Get out and watch an 18-3a game. Very interesting high school basketball.  The previous reports of Jasper's problems with the score keeping and clock management turned out to be if anything, understated.  It was atrocious. I read the previous threads on this forum about other recent games there, especially the Center game and was warned by more than one person to watch out for the problems. I now understand where they were coming from. Someone in an official capacity needs to look into this. It is a very serious concern. The girls game was fraught with clock problems and baskets that were not counted (always in Jasper's favor). The boys game that followed was equally fraught with problems. Incorrect foul assignments, baskets not counted until officials protested, and perhaps the most blatant late in the game during a time-out the time keeper failed to start the time-out clock...then started it about 30 seconds late (yes, it was a 20 second time out) then let it run several seconds after the ball was actually thrown in bounds. So, there we sat watching the time-out clock tick down while play was actually going on. Couldn't say for sure how much extra time Jasper received out of that little incident, but it was several seconds. It could very well have changed the outcome of the game, but fortunately it did not. It was totally amazing. The problem needs to be addressed and hopefully the good folks in Jasper will do something about it. Bring on the second half....a great 18-3a race.
 23. Thanks for that comment , No Look. We will be watching that clock and score very carefully tonight.  I'm sure its not intentional, such as the "smart" remarks, because we've always found the Jasper folks to be great hosts.  Should be a fine high school basketball game.
 24.
I am going to go with Jasper winning, with it at home and I dont know if Diboll will be smart enough to play them right.  We will see.
So, for the rest of us mortals that aren't "SMART ENOUGH", perhaps you could throw us a few bones.  If Diboll wins, they played smart, if they loose, they didn't?
 25. Agree with you...its really sad to watch the Kirbyville bb team...but they do start 3 sophs so maybe they are building for the future?
