1. Winning a home game in 18-3a is just holding serve...needs to be done, but its the road games that will set the finish placements.  WTG Jasper!!
2. No sure exactly the cause, but apparently Coldspring would have been in violation of UIL rules if they played that game...at least that's the reason I understood for it was cancelled.
3. Guess I don't understand the question? ...or the basis for the question. Would you mind elaborating?  Thanks.
4. Agree that things are looking up for Central...Kirbyville started 3 sophs...looked like a JV game out there. Diboll and Center are very close to even....home team usually wins in those.
5. Not much of a game. Central led from start to finish and won easily. Score was 79 to 43 Central with about 1 minute left. Anyone catch the Diboll at Center game?
6.
Yep, Diboll looked a lot different than two weeks ago. Huntington had too many turnovers again but played better.....Diboll hit their free throws down the stretch. I think Kewon broke his arm.....maybe down to six on varsity.
If you saw Diboll in the Hudson game, they played arguably their worst game of the year.  I'm looking forward to the rematch in Hudson. Should be a much better game. Diboll, along with Center,  played some very good 5A/4A teams in the Nac. tournament over the Holidays. Both teams improved considerably getting 5 - 6 games against some excellent competition. You could see the improvement in each game. From where I sit, Diboll and Center are about equal. Going to be some great games in district 18-3a this year and a dog fight right down to the wire. Hope the Huntington player(s) injured are ok.
7. Popcorn sounds great...but make it a caffine free drink.  :) Actually Diboll did have a new player that just became eligible (#21) but he wasn't a factor. Got to win those home games in this district and Diboll just held serve tonight with this one. Its the road games that will separate the teams in 18-3a.
8. Dustin Harris was pretty danged good...he could have been great if he had concentrated on BB, IMO. Great vertical jump.
9.
I look for a 12-17 point win for the devils......
I'll take Diboll and 17. Even Diboll and 12.
10. Sounds like Hudson is in the drivers seat for now. Home wins in district are expected and the top finishers will get there because of road wins. Hudson is plus 1. Last night Diboll easily beat Central...but a home game...and Diboll's home loss to Hudson earlier makes them -1.
11. I watched several of the pool play games Monday and Tuesday. Round Rock w/6'11 center was very impressive as was Elsik and Terrell. Lufkin also looked very good. Tournament play is going on today but I can't make it out there. Hopefully someone will post up results.
12. Woodville has a fine team and is well coached. They would be one of the favorites if they were in 18-3a.
13. Dang, I meant to go see that game but forgot....sounds like it was a good game.
14. If you are picking individual games this year in 18-3a, always pick the home team and you will do well. Based on the teams I have seen, it looks wide open...maybe a slight edge to Center but Diboll is right there with them as evidenced in their game at Tatum which went into overtime. Hudson has J. Davis and he makes them a threat to win every game, but if he gets in foul trouble or has to be out of the game, then Hudson is very vulnerable.  Jasper will make some noise also as will Central which has a very young, but talented team. Home team better win their games and hope to get a few on the road...the teams that do that will be on top, obviously. Starts tonight with a key game Hudson vs Diboll.  For the Jacks, its almost a "must" win game. See you at the game tonight.
15. I can say...as a completely neutral person regarding Woodville...and someone who has seen them twice now....they are a well coached team and one of the better teams in this area.  They hustle, play an in-your-face press, can hit the threes, and can go inside. They have very good team chemistry...and that isn't an accident.
16.
to get better...
In my coaching experience, complete blowouts aren't an atmosphere for learning...and often makes teams far worse not better. Just my opinion.
17. Woodville has a fine team...and it will be interesting to see how far they can go this year. Very well coached team.
18. Dang, can someone explain to me why Leggett would schedule a game with Cleveland?  Talk about a confidence killer. Just does not make sense to me.
19. Actually it was double overtime in the Henderson win over Hudson.  Hudson pressed Henderson successfully and that was the only way they were able to stay in the game. It was interesting to watch the score change everytime the Davis kid came out....Hudson is at best marginal without him in the game. It seemed that Henderson had a full team, unlike the Diboll game in which they struggled to have enough players.
20. Haven't seen HJ this year but watched Hudson last night vs Henderson.  Hudson not as strong as years past, depends heavily on one player, Davis. Take HJ in an easy win.
21. Congrats to Woodville on winning a fine tournament. I always enjoy the Zavalla tournament every year, good teams, well managed tournament, and friendly folks.
22. As a person who follows Diboll, I was impressed with Woodville. They were able to rattle the Jacks with their press and controlled the game pretty much beginning to end. I'm hoping they will meet again in Zavalla tourney where it might be a different story.
