  1. The official title is "Head Football Coach and Boys Athletic Director". If you don't know the truth, don't post a misconception simply to ruffle some feathers. That is the official title. Pay scale and everything are very competitive throughout the state. Yes, he is just the BOYS Athletic Director. No, that does not take away from the significance of the job at all. It simply provides a better organizational structure for our athletic program to operate under.
  2. I completely misread that then lol
  3. And that tells you what? Maybe that he is looking for a house to rent until he can find a good house to buy. Hmmmm. Woodpile....very original.
  4. HC/AD at Overton ISD and Umholtz ISD. Defensive Coordinator at Palestine, Jasper, and Carthage. HC/AD at Yorktown last three years. Went three rounds deep with a Yorktown program that was awful before he got there. Also has experience as an assistant at Odessa-Permian High School. Not too bad of a resumé.
  5. Ty Robinson, current head football coach and athletic director at Yorktown ISD, has been approved by the Woodville ISD School Board to become the next Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Woodville High School! Welcome coach Robinson!
  6. Coach Nelson was a great defensive coordinator, and will do well in Daingerfield with Coach Waldie as well. Transitioning into a head coaching position from an assistant position without a long tenure at that school is a much more difficult process than most people think. This is not even considering the fact that he has no head coaching experience. Being from Woodville, as I assume you are, you know very well the amount of and types of problems the head coaches stumble upon all the time. It's not easy to come into a school like Woodville and handle those problems (parents) well. Again, Nelson is a great coach and will make a great HC one day. But, as was stated before, we have the talent to win now. Our players are starting to develop and gain experience, so why shouldn't we expect that same experience and development out of our HC?
  7. We, as a community, feel the same way. I can assure you that the school board wants a long-term solution to the football program, but that is much easier said than done. You dont find a Curtis Barbay every day. Those kinds of coaches are 1 in a hundred thousand. With the names they have considered, I can honestly say that, while the continuity point is valid, hiring Nelson was not and STILL is not our beat option. Yes, that may mean a new system, but Waldie did it in a summer and saw major improvements. We went to the playoffs last year, so why would this be taking a step back at all? Especially if we are able to hire a coach who many consider better than our previous one? He may not come in and completely change the system. A good coach realizes talent and does what he can to develop his offense around his talent. So, instead of criticizing the efforts of a board whose ONLY concern is those kids in the high school, let's please take a step back and realize that Woodville High School football is still in an amazing position to be very successful in the next few years. There is TONS of talent coming up through their pipeline. I won't tell you his name, but, if you'd like to meet the coach they are considering for hire, attend the school board meeting tomorrow night. Every board meeting is open to the public and the publics' opinion is very much welcomed. Not that this needs to be said again, but there is a special board meeting tomorrow night to (hopefully) confirm the hire of a new HFC/BAD. Like I've said multiple times now, I will not say any names until I am 100% positive that it is official. So, stay tuned. Lol
  8. Nelson would've been a good hire. But I think it's obvious there were better applicants, and I'm sure whoever they hire, whether it's Mackey or some other names I've heard through the grapevine, it will be a good hire. Just be patient.
  9. I understand your frustration. I would expect something done by the end of the week.
  10. I think you'd be surprised. Rest assured, a good hire will be made.
  11. I think he's trying to be funny.
  12. Or are you being funny and talking about Robinson Crusoe? Lol
  13. The only York I can find is York Junior High in Spring lol
  14. Woodville's standout offensive guard, Trey Dear, has signed to continue his playing career at Houston Baptist University! Congratulations Trey! We're all proud of you!!
  15. 1. Kirbyville 2. Kountze 3. Hardin 4. Buna 5. Warren 6. Anahuac 7. Deweyville 8. East Chambers You heard it first here.
  16. Multiple students were injured in a bus crash between Kirbyville and Spurger this afternoon. DPS says no injuries appear to be life-threatening, although all students will be transported to hospital in Jasper for observation. Please keep these students and their families and classmates in your prayers. Members of the boys track team, along with two coaches were among the 35 people on the bus.
  17. I think some people are taking this way too seriously. The topic is gone. It's not coming back. Don't make anyone delete this one too. There are those of us who ACTUALLY care about who the next AD/HC will be at Woodville. If you aren't on here to find out or provide info as to who that mat be, then please, go away.
  18. Nelson has resigned from Woodville ISD. I can almost assure you he won't be our next HC.
  19. Can you delete individual comments? Why not just delete comments that are off-topic? Not questioning your statement, just genuinely curious. I'm perfectly okay with that last one being locked.
  20. Haven't heard anything. Hopefully we will hear something soon.
