I noticed you said 'recomended'. So, you want the seating behind the Ozen bench to be optional for Central fans or mandatory for Ozen fans? It spawns another question. How can a Central fan be differentiated between an Ozen fan tonight? ;)
The Ozen fans will be scowling and gritting their teeth.
:o :o Ohh my! -

I don't want Fontenot. He's more of a 'hype man ' than an actual coach. I want someone that knows their x's and o's... -

There are some small things that Nederland can improve on but sometimes the shots fall for you and sometimes they don't. Look at Ozen for example. They almost lost to PNG because they couldn't get there shots to go down. There is a lot of basketball left. Anything could happen! Also IMO, the BMT schools should be the top runners in the district in all three sports. Football, Basketball, Baseball. You have 100K + to choose from with a open enrollment with a 5A school already in the area vs the rest of the district with 16k that have 1 school. I think Ozen and Central should be playing 5A. IMO, i think if you have a area with 5A numbers and a open enrollment, you should be playing 5A. Or close the open enrollment and make them go to the school in there living zone. I bet there are some 7 graders and 8th graders right now playing together from different zones in BMT debating on what school they should all go to when they get to high school. Other schools in the district don't have this luxury.
Using your example, Worthing High , Davis, Sterling, YEP, etc all should have good basketball programs in Houston because of the population advantage, but they don't. #2, there isn't a school in this area who can compete in 5-A playoffs against Houston schools. But 4-A is wide open- no dominant teams.
Do those schools have open enrollment? Sure there is! Ozen and Central would compete just fine in 5-A. If i am not mistaking but Ozen has won some state titles in 4-A already in there short school history. I know it will never happen but i think both schools belong in 5-A.
So you want Ozen with its 1200 students and Central with its 1600 students to compete 5A? Your whole thought pattern is flawed. Once again meaningless...
The open enrollment is why i say they should be 5-A. The Hunter boys could transfer to Central if they wanted or all the starters from Central could have chosen to attend Ozen. Some of the starters from WB could as well. Yeah that's real fair for other 4-A schools in the district. ::) Close the open enrollment and make kids go to the school in there school zone and i am good with it.
Really? So Nederland sports have never benefited from Port Arthur transfers? And none of what you're talking about has anything to do with how UIL classifies schools.
Not sure! Maybe, if so is because they moved into the area. I know how UIL classifies schools, that's why i am stating my opinion. I think they have it all wrong. So you think Ozen would have won there state championships if they didn't have open enrollment? I will answer that... NO
Ozen only has ONE state championship.

Central vs. Ozen 1/22/2012 predictions
BMTSoulja1 replied to BMTSoulja1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
We know about Ozen's shooters. Ozen's only Chance is to get some kind of inside game going. They will also need to control the boards. A strong task for them. We know about Hunter. He'll get his, but will someone else step up? I don't know. Ozen thrives on forcing turnovers. We need to not turn over the ball, make our free throws not allow there to be a dry spell in scoring. bench play could be key. I have Central by 8 -
Ozen will be looking to redeem themselves at home! Could be a barnburner!

The 30 point performance was Big Ned's lowest point total of the year. This kind of defense can carry the Jags them a long way!
40.
Let me reword it. The 40 points are amongst the lowest total for Nederland this season...
Yep. Not gonna win many games scoring 40 points against an elite team. The defensive effort for Ned was impressive as well. Since the Lufkin tourney, the Jags have averaged 64ppg. Holding the Jags to 50 is not easy. 50 points is amongst the lowest output for the Jags this season. Central has scored exactly 50 in 3 games this year, plus a 38 point and 44 point performance in the Lufkin tourney. In order to win games, we must show up in the 1st half. We have come from behind too many times this season. We must find a way to get a lead early. Gotta play hard and aggressive all 4Q's, not just the last 2 when we are behind.
Very good info and very true.

It clearly was a sign saying Home and Visitor. .now no one was sitting there throughout the game so why they made central fans move I havent a clue. ..they weren't being rude or heckling they were just watching the game..now if a problem had occurred then I think u take the appropriate measures otherwise leave em alone and let them watch the game. in peace. .Stop playing the race card ...while we cant ingore that RACISM exist this wasnt the time to put the card out there....being asked to move because of the fear of what might happen is clearly a safety measure to protect the fans....lets keep it basketball and save the nonsense for tell all books..GO PANTHERS ;D 8)
So, who played the race card? I don't think I was dealt that deck...

Funny, I didn't hear any complaints about seating during the closed door game between Ozen and Central a few years back. Oh yeah, the fans were not invited at all. Grumble...grumble.... Come on man! U ignored AAW's comment about seating that he has seen in most gyms. We enforce this same rule when PNG comes to town. Why do so many people want to go to the rave card so quickly and repeatedly? When Nederland played Central this year in football, which searing section did you sit in? When you go to a Rockets game with a seat number, do you tell them you can sit where you want to sit? Ironically, every time I have ever observed a seating controversy at a sporting event, the police/security are involved. Rules are rules, just follow them. I know, I know, it's much easier to just play the race card. ::)
I said it brings Rosa Parks to mind. Meaning making someone move. I didn't bring race into it. Didn't accuse anyone from Nederland of being a racist...
You implied race, which is no different.
If that's what you deciphered from my post, then I would say it's your opinion since I'm telling you that I didn't throw the race card in. Also, implying race and making a racial comment IS different.
Definition of imply: imply[ im-plahy ] verb (used with object) im·plied, im·ply·ing. 1. to indicate or suggest without being explicitly stated.
What makes you assume I don't know what that word means? By the way, even an 8 year old child can effectively use dictionary.com...
C'mon Robert, using the name "Rosa Parks" implies race. You know it, everybody knows it. Maybe that was a poor analogy of the situation and you did not intend to make it a racial comment. But using a woman's name that hits at the heart of long time racial discrimination, is implying race.
As I've said once to Abe, it wasn't intended as a racial comment. Context clues should have indicated that. The sole purpose was the making someone move part. Selective comprehension once again for some. ::) ::). Anyway, I'm with Yeoj. The game is over, we won, and I'm glad that I was able to witness it in my seat... 3 rows from the Nederland bench... 8)
The entire seating area across the from the scoring table was ninety eight percent Nederland fans. And you want to cut the side behind the scoring table in half. My question is, does NISD expect the entire Central basketball fan base to sit in that little fourth of gym space? And are they really going to use the Nederland police to enforce that ridiculousness?
True!

If people would read the HUGE banner indicating where home and visitors were to sit a rope fence and armed guards would not be needed. READ THE SIGNS AND FIND YOUR SEAT ACCORDINGLY. What was so hard to understand about the HUGE banner?
Every gym has that. It's where they 'prefer you to sit. They don't call in security to force you to sit somewhere. There's a difference.
Explain the difference
No need. Water under the bridge now. If I were asked to move, I would have declined as should those few fans that elected to move.
Why not just respect AND abide by the rules that are set in place? If the speed limit is 55, and you refuse to drive that slow, do authorities not have the right to pull you over and write you a ticket? When you go to a public place, do you look at their rules and just ignore them? I will repeat this story again: Last year, Central officials made an announcement (exactly as we did last night) asking fans to sit on their respective sides. There was no issue made bc we respected the rules of BISD and Central and moved. You didn't hear anything about this bc we did not make an issue out of it.
I went to EVERY Central game last year and that's FALSE information. There was No such announcement prior to a game. Heck, I don't recall there being such an announcement in Nederland as well. The speed limit comparison is lame. You Have to follow the law. It's a must. At a high school game, you're not FORCED to sit somewhere or where NOT to sit. Heck using that comparison brings Rosa Parks to mind...
