1. Hey, anything can happen. I mean, nobody expected ya'll to go as far as you did, last year. Admittedly, I'm a bit apprehensive about making any kind of bold predictions, at this point, as I still dont really know what we have. Yes, we are going to be very young, but we still have some talent. Flanagan is tweaking the offense, a bit, but we should be able to put some points on the board. Our QB, Clack, is gonna be decent. Our defense is changing schemes, completely, so we will just have to see. After a couple of games are played, I hope I feel more comfortable about our season. Right now, I've got my fingers crossed.
2.

I don't  know.  I'm not crazy about traveling to see a scrimmage.  Besides, I have a friend that invited me to the West Brook/Lufkin Scrimmage on the same day.
Weak Brooke bringing out the band, cheerleaders and drill team again?  ::)
??? This is the second thread youve made mention of this in. Did they do this last year, or something?
3.
Beaumont This and Beaumont that You wont find a better opponent to smack They aligator mouths with a hummingbird @#$ they mouths write checks that they @#$ cant cash WB look weak and Central is a fraud Stump has left but he was a fake Todd Dodge. Central District champs somebody's on Booze Soulja said himself that the coach is a Stooge. Ozen made a run with that kid Trey Green Success at Ozen has been seldom seen. To all my Beaumont friends Ive kept it clean and respectful But come the night u meet the Titans dont take the @#$ kicking Personal
;) Very clever, D. Man, I just hope we got something for our scheduled opponents. With a new coach, comes a whole new ball game. We have a lot to learn, but I think we'll suprise some folks......maybe even PAM! ;)
4.
Weak Brooke has one lone fan still on here after the Deer Park debacle.  :D
Hey, we're still here....lurking just below the surface, Quietly waiting to see what kind of team we have this year. ;)
5. This poll, for years, has been the most inaccurate, far fetched, poll out there. These guys are usually waaaaay off base, and almost never parallel any other polls. But, this is why we play the game. ;)
6. As Pastor Dabney would say.....Amen, and Amen!
7. Grad, I can either text you (I think I still have your number), or post it on the game thread. With my new work schedule, I doubt I will be able to make all the games, this year, but I will get info to the board whenever I can.
8.
It's a greater Houston area TSRN poll. TSRN (who broadcasts mostly Houston area teams) will be somewhat biased in their rankings. They will rank Houston teams over Golden Triangle teams most of the time mainly because they just do not have any knowledge of the GT teams.
Yep. Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Fortunately, rankings dont mean a thing. Yeah, its nice to be recognized, but it doesn't get you any W's. Good luck to all teams that made it on that list.
9. Like was said, Flanagan gets a clean slate to start with. But I like what I'm hearing out of the folks at WB, this year. It's likely going to be a different offense than what we're use to seeing. And when the defense gets accustomed to the 3/4 scheme, I think they will be ok. The key to this season, IMO, is staying focused and try to get better each week. There will be no "gimme" games, this season. When its all said and done, I think the Bruins will be in line for one of those playoff spots in the 215.
10. I'm with Sarge. I think WB has the potential to suprise a few folks, this year. The Bruins are getting very little respect, in the polls, and that's fine with me. That just means folks are overlooking the little school in the West End. When its all said and done, I think WB will be one of those playoff teams from the 215. ;)
11. I like the list and think it represents a good mix across the state. I'm also curious to see how Lake Travis stacks up against the elite of 5A. Should be some great games come playoff time.
12.
I think they'll quit saying that once Sterling and Channelview are removed.
Well, we've got two more years, at least, with them in the district. Until then, the 215 will still likely get little respect.
13.
It feels weird not seeing Brook ranked in the Top 25...
why would you expect to see WB ranked? The Brook never gets any love....especially after the debacle last season. Dwindling numbers, in the program, and a new HC....it will be a while before WB is a contender again. Just sayin.
14. I agree, there are probably 5 teams in this district that could be district champs in other districts. It will no doubt be one of the tougher districts in the state. However, the 'No Team Left Behind' mentality, that the UIL has implemented, is pointless to begin with. The playoffs are too watered down. When you have a team make the playoffs with a 2-8 or 3-7 record, something needs to change. Back in the day, only district champions qualified for the postseason. Even having the second place team go in, is ok. But 4 teams, per district, and crowning 2 state champions per classification, is taking a little of the luster off of things. Its all about making money, these days. Off my soap box, now.
15. WOW! I cant say I'm shocked to hear of something like this. SMH!
16. My point is, Lamar is a conference champion. They should be IN! If the NCAA wants to have a "play in" game, give it to the lowest seed out of the Big East, and make them play their way in. Doesn't the Big East have like 8 teams in the tournament? Conference champions should be in, period!
17. I'm really proud for Lamar, this year, but I'm sorry, if you win your conference, you should be automatically in the Tournament. What is this "play in" BS? Lamar has 23 wins! The last time they made the tournament, they got in with a 15-15 record! This is totally disrespectful to Lamar, IMO! The NCAA selection committee is a joke, plain and simple......and I hope Lamar crushes Vermont!
18. Congratulations Cardinals! You have made the Golden Triangle beam with pride. Go Big Red!
19. He's evidentally an offensive minded coach, but what type of offense does he run?
20. Crosby is in, what, 19-4A? Not a powerhouse 4A district, some would say. How does the level of competition in that 4A district, compare to what he's going to see in 21-5A? NS, PAM, LP, DP.....these aren't scrub 5A teams! I am optimistic, and hopeful, that this guy can keep WB at the top of the heap without missing a beat. Good luck to him. I hope he does a fantastic job, at WB. This could certainly be the most talent rich school he has coached at. Let's hope he uses it wisely!
21. Can anyone tell me what kind of W/L record he had at Crosby? I wouls like to examine those scores, and record, for myself. I am excited about Coach Flanagan coming to West Brook, but would like some more information on his coaching style, and theories, and how he plans to keep WB on the winning track.
22.
I am really surprised to see Joe Slack's name on this list.  Talk about swinging for the fences!
I dont feel very confident that this guy would even be considered for the position. After looking at his credentials, I think its best if he stayed in the smaller school ranks. The teams, and schools that WB plays, aren't anything like the ones he coached against at HD.
23. Hmmm, thats interesting. Coach Haynes has 21 years as a head coach.  Coach Haynes is the most winning active coach in the entire Southeast Texas area with a record of 146 wins and 69 losses, 5 District Championships, 8 Bi-District Championships, and 1 Regional Finalist. Haynes has been named Coach of the Year 9 times and was also the NFL High school Coach of the year Award Nominee in 2003, holding the highest award a high school coach can receive.  Coach Haynes has also had 6 teams qualify for the 7 on 7 State Championship. It will be interesting to see if this rumor is true. But from looking over his credentials, this might be the guy to keep WB in their winning ways. Curious.....
24. I remember Chuck, when he played at WB. Great player, and great guy. As an underclassman, I looked up to him, and he was a great role model. I think he would be a great coach.....he knows how to win!
