PAM @ WB Predictions
82 5A State Champs replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Back to the topic at hand. I voted for PAM, in the poll, not because I've given up on my team, but because I'm a realist. Based on what I've seen out of WB, this year, it ain't gonna happen. Granted, the Bruins are only playing 3 returning starters from last years team, but there have just been entirely too many mistakes, in too many games. The worst part is, they don't seem to be correcting them. Hopefully, I'm wrong, and WB will sneak away with a win, but I think the odds will be in the Titans favor in this one. As I've earlier said, no playoffs for Flanagan in his first year. I certainly hope it gets better for next year. -

I think they'll give PAM a game.
from what i heard from NS folks that they didnt throw the book at WB. That doesnt bode well for next week.
Well, I just looked at the game stats, and they are almost identical. Close to the same number of passing yards, and close to the same number of rushing yards. In fact, WB had more first downs than the Mustangs. The difference seems to be the 5 turnovers the Bruins had (2 fumbles lost, and 3 INT's). I'm not sure how long the NS coaches left the starters in, before they called off the dogs, but I was encouraged by the stats.

We knew WB wouldn't win this game. We are having a down year. It wasn't that long ago when PAM was having trouble winning games....or have you forgotten so soon?

WestBrook vs NorthShore predictions

They got to get some turnovers and at least get some three and outs or something and that has not been seen alot this year. and for the qb start i say let the junior get another game started to see if he can get some things moving if not you can always put clack back in and roll with him but the Offense when facing a good team needs to score some points to help that defense out!
I would like to see the 10th grader playing JV taking snaps on varsity. He has a great arm and is a really good athlete. Plus he can't do any worse than Clack or Padia.
WOW Yeoj you must be the 10th graders friend cause if you know anything about WB and seen the JV kid play and practice you know that kid is not even close to being ready for Varsity...lol..maybe next year he can make a play for the spot but I would bet against it, Also Mouse your comment on Clack being mobile is a joke as well, clack has the least amount of yards on the ground on the team and has been sacked at least 6 times per game, where as in two games Padia has shown good running and scrambling and has 2 rushing TDs and more rushing yards than clack, oh yea clack has 0 rushing TDs! All said no matter who starts they lose to north shore 9 out of 10 times, but would be nice to see Flanagan get some experience for Padia since he will most likely be the guy next year!
You must be Padia or his parent. He's a hard worker but not the answer. And the 10 grader is as ready as Clack or Padia is. Its not like either one is setting the field on fire!
No YEOJ im not either of the two just a westbrook fan and alumni who follows very close on what Westbrook is doing, I go to practices and talk to the kids, I go to the Games to show support but as a football fan and ex player I see some things in the team that i like to express on this site. Look the 10th grader aint even close to being ready cause if he was and gave them a better option he would be in the game or at least on varsity, ! Takes more than a QB to win games but the only thing i can be accused of is being a Bleacher Coach, which i find fun, Hopefully Clack and Padia both get utilized for what they bring to the game so that they can both get a little exposure , heck Clack is a Senior and needs all the feild time he can get and Padia is a Junior who needs all the experience he can get, so good luck to the Bruins and Im sure this coach will figure it out in a few years or he will be coaching somewhere else, I am sure of that and dont have to be a parent or player to see it! And the only thing keeping these kids from setting the field on fire is the play calling!!
I agree with everything you said, Alum, but.....West Brook is spelled as 2 words! LOL! -
like i told 82, its easy to beat NS if you follow the game plan PAM did and add in pooch kicks. with that being said: NS 58 WB 17 WB coaches wont make any adjustments after a close 1st half, watch. ;)
You're probably right. -
WestBrook vs NorthShore predictions

The problem I have seen, at least with Clack in at QB, is that he stares down Spearman, and only throws to Spearman. Now, I didn't see the Channelview game, but from looking at the stats, it looks to me like Padilla threw to more WR's than just the one. WB will have to play the entire 4 quarters, to even have a chance. And from what I've seen out of this offense, it's too hit and miss. They haven't been able to drive the field, against a team over .500, all year long. Padilla seems to bring another dynamic, that Clack doesn't have, in his ability to run the ball. I say, play Padilla, and start tuning up for next season. You may even put Clack in at WR. He's certainly tall enough. NS will probably push WB around the first half, and will put in the 2's and 3's in the second half. This will probably be another LP/DP game, in that WB's defense wont be able to stop NS's offense, and the Mustang offense will probably hang 50 on us. I'm not being a pessimist, just keeping it real. -

WB also got back Stephen Wycoff, to help at the RB spot. I'm not naive enough to think that our offensive woes have been solved, and I know this is just Channelview, but maybe, just maybe, the Bruins have stumbled onto something here. Sounds to me like they didn't throw exclusively to Spearman, in this game, either. Thats good. I'm glad to see them use more of their offensive options. Hopefully, its a sign of things to come. While we're not mathematically out of the playoff picture, just yet, admittedly it will be tough to get in. WB has to win 2 of its last 3 to make it. With NS, PAM, and Sterling left to play, it wont be easy. WB should beat Sterling, but wont beat NS. The PAM game will most likely be the key to getting in the playoffs. If the Bruins somehow steal a win, against the Titans, then they should qualify. Lose to them, and we're sitting at 2-4, in district, and that wont get us in.
NS is beatable.
Probably not with this WB team. But, anything can happen. That's why we play the game.

This is not what we have come to expect from our teams. As I said before, we dont unrealistically expect to be in the state championship game every year. But, what we do expect is to at least compete. Thus far, we have been outscored 153-188, in starting the season 2-4. That is totally unacceptable. We expect better than this from our WB teams.
How many games has WB won the last two years? I saw one WB fan say "he (Flannigan) can't make the playoffs with Stump's players". Did Stump make the playoffs last year with his players? You're in a district with NS, LP, DP, and PAM. Besides La Porte, which one of those teams is WB consistently better than or have more talent than. Maybe La Porte but they have the #1 recruit in the state for the 2014 class, maybe DP but they're just extremely well coached and have over 1000 more kids than WB. Give the man time, it's not like y'all were expecting to make the playoffs this year anyway right?
Yes. We were. We expect to make the playoffs every year. That's the goal.

We have "everything" problems, not just defensive problems. Can we get a mulligan for this season? And how long will a defunct coach be allowed to stay, before BISD will replace him? I keep telling myself that things will turn around, and WB will get on the winning track, but it obviously isn't going to happen. The Flanagan Circus....coming to a stadium near you! ;D
