1. I'm excited too! But you guys will have to keep me posted, I'll be stuck in West Texas tonight.. So all the updates as frequently as possible will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks guys!!  Go Oilers!!  ...and good luck to both teams!
2. I agree, but myself and a few friends of mine used to attend the WH games regularly. We would never miss. About 8-15 of us would sit together and would yell so loud all game long we couldnt talk the next day. We'd leave with headaches, but it was so much fun. Never any profane comments made and nothing severely derogatory for that matter.. Not about the kids, anyway. "Cmon Ref, are you blind!?!?". Or "what are you doing, coach!?!?" was about as mean as it got. ...then, out of nowhere, after about 4 seasons of being the "cheerleaders in the stands"  several of us recieved letters in the mail telling is to tone it down.  We were out of hand and were too "rowdy" for a family environment.  Needless to say, it took the wind out of our sails and our spirit section dispersed.  :(  The players would always compliment us, the fans would rally behind us, but apparently someone had a problem with our volume and our over-enthusiastic demeanor. We still go to every game we can, still support our team whether they're 2-8 or 8-2, but we don't yell like we used to.  ... It's actually kinda sad.
3. 1. Coldspring 2. Huffman 3. Liberty Or posshibwy 2.Liberty 3.Huffman Or alsho maybe... Tucked in. :)
4. Lol.. Didnt realize Vidor was that much different from Evadale. Seen plenty of big belt buckles at both places.  ;) ... at West Hardin too for that matter, where I'll be Friday night. I think theres a little redneck in all of us.  ;D  Should be a great game! If Soulja goes to this one, I say he should go on past the stadium on 105 a couple miles to the stop sign, go in Oiler Country (the store past the blinking light/stop sign on the right) and grab a double meat burger or barbecue baked potato (cause they're awesom!) and head on back up to the game. But make sure ya get there early, unless you wanna walk a little ways across campus, because I'm sure this one will have a crowd and might be standing room only.
5. I would expect nothing less from either team!! Its gonna be a close call because of work, but im really hoping to be there for this one! As far as the injuired players, I hope those guys get better and wish them the best. Injuries can be as devastating mentally as anything else. Just stay positive guys. Not many things more sad than seeing young athletes with all the heart and want to in the world, sit on the sidelines and watch their team and friends play without them. All you can do is cheer them on and stand behind them every step of the way.  It was hard when I was in their shoes and it's equally hard to see someone else endure it. Good luck on your road to recovery guys!
6. Somebody has to show me they can stop Liberty this year, so I'll take them by 2 scores over Kelly. I'm sure both schools have great talent and college recruits. Let's wish the kids luck. But a few talented players doesn't mean much if they can't all get it together. At WH, we went 0-fer one year and still had 2 guys go D1(fcs) and 1 guy go juco. Everyone spanked us, even though we had three guys capable of playing at the next level.  So, IMO, the whole "we got Chuck Norris" on our team, really isn't much of an argument about what team will win. Lol Good luck to both teams!  Bet it's a great game!
7. Sure guys. Whatever you say. One man does not make a team. Not even close.  Mr. UT recruit single handedly helped Cleveland wade through opponents on their way to a 2 win season last year. A 5-5 Hardin team beat Liberty last year worse than they beat a struggling West Hardin, hanging 50+ on em both and Cleveland beat Tarkington by about the same margin as HD did.  Im not sure where I see the destructive path of annihilation that either of these 3A teams left in their wake and how they brutally outmatched HD. But it's just debate.  And this is just a forum.  Always fun to trade facts and opinions.  This year, I see HD beating Tarkington in a close one, but not as bad as Liberty or Cleveland will beat them. Good luck to the longhorns, hoping they can get it turned around soon. Keep your head up guys!
8. Whoops! Lol.  Must've looked back at the huntington thread. And I'm not from Daisetta.  That stings! :( Guess I forgot how powerful Liberty was last year, racking up 500 - 600 rushing yards a game and all.

H-D's defense will get better. I would like to see H-D mix up their pass defense. Also would love to see #73 and #66 play on the offensive line. Very excited about the physical play of #9 on defense for H-D, kid had some big hits and QB pressures. Film will show alot for H-D. H-D 35 Tarkington 14
you still think HD can beat Liberty lol. Get outta here :-* :-* :-* Not this year. Liberty looking really good so far.  But last year, I certainly don't see why not.  Definitely would have been competitive with them.

edwards woulda ran for 5 or 600.. lets be serious.. haha
???  Wow. 5-600 yards!?!? If u really believe what u just said, debating is pointless. That being said: 2010 results - Tarkington - 54 Liberty - 28 Hull Daisetta - 28 Tarkington - 6.
10. Hey guys, I know its off topic, but if someone knows how to contact one of the HD coaches, please PM me.  It's in regards to the ex's game between WH & HD at the end of the high school season.  Thanks!!  As for this Friday.. Swami Says: HD -34 Tarkington - 20

12. Ahh, I was unaware of that! Thanks for the insight! Lol!  :P
13. True, HD55. I agree if you're on the outside looking in, it looks bad. But 3A doesn't necessarily mean more competitive than 1A. On paper it appears that way by sheer numbers. But as we all know, when u throw into the mix the atleticism of individuals, overall tradition and the level of your schools football program, there are many exceptions to the rules on both ends of the spectrum. I honestly believe that Tarkington, Huntington, Porter perhaps and even Splendora would have a hard time making the playoffs in HD's district. Its just a down year for those guys, and the top 3 or 4 teams in our 1A district would be able to play with those guys.  (please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not downing you guy's schools in any way)
14. Hardin, Woodville, Anahuac, Splendora are off the 16th if I'm not mistaken If Deweyville takes this week off Hull-Daisetta is open on the 30th and if High Island isn't able to play on the 30th, West Hardin will not have a game then either. I hope all works out, and High Island finds a way to pull through. Those are some tough kids and always show a lot of grit and heart. I wish them the best.
15. I'm gonna say H-D wins by 2 scores as the bobcats show some life and get into mid-season form after a slow start. I dunno about the 1A vs. 3A thing, though. If u schedule a school to play in pre-district, u can't really use the size if the school as an excuse or crutch. Almost puts the larger team in a lose/lose perspective. Tarkington vs. HD is usually a good, physical game and is rarely a bad mismatch. Good luck to both teams!! See you in district, Cats!!  (and in the WH-HD ex's game)    ;D
16. Both teams are definitely capable of scoring a lot of points, and both have something to prove. Each week we watch a blowout by these teams and each week we see the posts about the opposing team like "Wow! They must be terrible this year!".  Or "when are they (WH & Kountze) gonna play somebody?"  I see two teams with a chip on their shoulder battling it out in a physical and hard hitting dogfight. I'm taking the boys from West Hardin, but not by much. Both teams better be prepared Friday Night.  Great early season matchup in Hardin county with two small schools putting their perfect records on the line!
17. Thats not so terrible or "cold" lol. It's actually not a bad idea. Alto used to play lufkins jv on a regular basis and I'm sure plenty of 1a & 2a schools throughout the state still play 5A's junior varsity. It's sheer numbers. You're matching your best of your 150-200 ppl against the best of an enrollment of thousands and only culling the top 50 or so (PA's Varsity) its not so degrading at all. Too bad West Hardin isn't off that week, I used to enjoy the Deweyville vs. West Hardin matchup. That being said, if High Island is unable to play on the 30th vs. West Hardin  the teams that have open schedules are Deweyville, Legacy, Burkeville, Hemphill, San Augustine, Hardin Jefferson, Liberty.. And I dunno, maybe Memorial's JV.  Lol!
18. Yeah, that was a bit much.. Hardin isn't terrible, they're just not as potent this year as they have been recently. They're young, and going through a rebuilding year.  And give a little credit, West Hardin has more speed this year than in Years prior. They're looking pretty good. Kountze will be a good test for them. I look for a hard fought game that shouldn't be decided by more than a touchdown or two. Just depends on who wants it more, and who makes fewer mistakes.
19.
Played in a game that was 48-0 at the start of the second quarter and final was 68-0.  East Chambers vs West Hardin 1997.  Coach Evans showed alot of class and basically pulled all starters after the first series of the 3rd quarter.  The starters also sat for most of the 2nd quarter as well.
Yep. That was probably one of the most lopsided football games ever played. We (West Hardin) went 0-10 that year. Our only close game was a 7-6 loss to Hardin where our leading reciever And sophomore quarterback (me) were injured for the season. When we played EC we had 5 freshmen and 6 sophomores starting at one position or the other. We had less than 18 kids in our entire high school football program and we were 2A then. It was awful. I don't think we even tackled the starting running back. Seriously. He scored every time he touched the ball. The coach was classy enough to pull the starters very early, but some of the fans weren't so nice. I thought it was 72-0, but i guess 68-0 was the final. It could have been 200-0, and that's not an exaggeration.
20. If liberty keeps it up, I look for them and Huffman to be battling for 2nd in district!  Way to go panthers!! Keep up the good work!!
21. First Class ATWildcat. Sounds like I missed a great one tonight.
