I didn't see that second option in the rules just voted on. Where did you see the second option because I agree schools would choose that option.

Do y'all think this new rule will will change some of our annual tournaments? We will definitely see fewer tournaments. I am curious if it will make for larger tournaments with more guaranteed games.

The new UIL rules that were approved (subject to approval by the commissioner of education) do affect basketball.  Basketball is now limited to two tournaments plus 21 games in a season prior to the playoffs.  They have cut the number of tournaments allowed from 3 to two.  This may cause more teams to enter tournaments like HJ runs to guarantee more games.  These rules will go into affect next season (2013-2014).

Can you enlighten us as to which teams are scheduled to be there?

Texpreps picks for last year (2011-2012) were as follows: 1. ozen 2. ned. 3. livingston 4. central 5. lcm They got the order of the first 5 wrong.  They did pick 3 of the 4 playoff teams. The only team they missed for the playoffs was Livingston. LCM made the playoffs instead of Livingston. Did they make the same mistake for this year? We'll see.

Dove, who are your projected starters for Ozen?  How big is your post player?  I know yall are fast and shoot well but will yall be able to guard other 20-4a bigs?

Sometimes we spend too much time talking about the "next level".  There is something to be said for being a real good high school player and enjoying it while you can.  In fact for those few kids that are good enough to play at next level some find that HS was alot more fun.

There seems to be a consensus that Ned., Ozen, and Central will be the top 3 teams (none in my opinion will go undefeated in dist.).  The 4th spot, and a shot at the playoffs, may not be so clear.  Other than Collins who is a great athlete who else does Livingston have?  Do they have any size coming back? Just curious.  A young LCM and an improving Vidor may have a shot at the 4th spot.  A taste of playoffs, even if short lived, gives young teams experience and confidence.

LCM will be young with only 2 seniors that played significant minuites last year.  I still think that they have an outside shot at the 4th playoff spot. 

I have heard that Collins from Livingston may graduate early and enroll at Baylor? for football.  If so that will hurt Livingston in basketball. Does anyone know for sure if he will play basketball for Livingston this year?
