Not real sure whats going on in Kville right now, but as far as the playing Vidor (since we keep getting brought up). Last year I would have put Kville up against anyone in our district and the had shot a winning. Probably could have made the playoffs fo 20-4a. Yes thats right a 2a/3a school. Good group of kids and great fan base out there. Cant say that about everyone in 20-4a. Hope the wildkats get things turned around for the season.
Thanks Titan...We are kinda in a little tail spin at the present time,But I'm sure it will all work out in the long run...Been hearing good things on the Pirates...Good Luck on the upcoming season...
I missed this game do to having to work...lol was any Kat players moved around or any signs that this young team is improving....Oline?
Kirbyville IMO needs to find some kind of offense... They don't have an offense at the present time (Same problem in the game with Silsbee)...JMO.. ;)
Don't hate on Ozen for playing Kville. Vidor is playing them too in an actual game.
Look let's clear this all up....This decision was made under a former Coach who, along with Vidor's Coach agreed on this preseason matchup it is done for a two year deal..( One game in Kirbyville,One game in Vidor)..This was when preseason games were hard to come by..In fact Kirbyville had a preseason game with Wills Point..I have no idea where that place even is..(I'm not sure the people who live in Wills Point knows where it is..) Kirbyville IS a small school everyone knows that,But they as any other team can only play 11 at a time...Vidor is only living up to an agreement between Coaches to play a football game..Win or lose. That's the way it goes..... ;)
No matter the outcome of your program! You as a supporter should always support your team no matter what. I think if a person support their team during the goods times and not the bad times they were not a true supporter of their team. Pray for no injuries for our young men in setex and Texas and lets get ready for some foooooooooooooooooooootball. ;D
Couldn't agree more Lobos...Good Post...

KBMT Football Preview - Newton Eagles
Kville_Kats replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Anticipation of the opening of this year's football season has been building and also a renewed excitement in Newton . It's been a long time since Newton fans didn't know what to expect from the football team but hard work and a winner's heart with a few scat plays thrown in that were ran 500 different ways. WT knows about these things and knows about that winning tradition and expectations he has inherited and helped nurture for so many years, plus his respect and admiration for Coach Barbay I don't think will allow him to not succeed. Good luck to WT and HIS Newton Eagle Football team! Bring them Kirbyville Wildcats on! ;D That one is for you rykerx. :D
Good Luck to the Coaches and The Eagles this season...Should be a good one... ;) -
Way to Go SETXSPORTS..!!!! Good crew and a lot of hard workers on this site...Nice to have a Site like this to come to...Keep up the Good Work... ;)
Is there politics in high school sports? Yes, I believe there is but very little. Coaches play the best players that give a "TEAM" the best chance to win. I don't see politics as a big issue. The big issue is parents who think their kid is better than they actually are. Lots of rose colored glasses out there.
I agree to a point....Influence Peddling is more likely in Sports... ;)
A little more breakdown of the stats: Kirbyville rushing 34/ 15 yards passing 3-16 30 yards Silsbee rushing 30/ 108 yards passing 11-20 290 yards 4 TD's I think it's safe to say (although I expect to see some scrutiny on these comments ::)) that Silsbee dominated this scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Tiger 1st team defense looked the best out of all the groups (both teams 1st & 2nd off. and def.). The Tigers disrupted several plays with their senior linebackers penetrating the line, getting some sacks and tackles for loss. They just didn't allow Kirbyville get into any kind of a rhythm. Silsbee's offense was a big play offense as all 4 TD's came via the pass and all were 50 yards or better. Silsbee run game looked descent at times, but missed a few opportunities (missed some holes). Silsbee looked very good for a first scrimmage. Kirbyville struggled. They could not get the run game going and their pass game was never established. The Wildcat O-line just had a hard time keeping the Tiger defenders out of the backfield. The Wildcat defense did well against the run, but the secondary gave up too many big plays. It is definitely their weak point. I believe Kirbyville will get it together by season's end, but they will struggle early on. By the numbers: Kirbyville suited out 27 on varsity, Silsbee had 40 suited out. Tigers had 3 soph, start on offense (QB, RB and RT) and 2 on defense (NG and LB)
Nothing wrong with your statements AAW....Stats don't lie...lol...Looks like Kirbyville has some work to do to me....It Is What It Is.. :)
Just got off of the phone with AAW. Here are some stats: Silsbee 1st Team: 35 plays, 10 first downs, 312 total yards, 3 TDs Kirbyville 1st Team: 35 plays, 4 first downs, 56 total yards, 0 TDs Silsbee 2nd Team: 15 plays, 3 first downs, 86 total yards, 1 TD Kirbyville 2nd Team: 15 plays, 0 first downs, -11 total yards, 0 TD Silsbee Totals: 50 plays, 13 first downs, 398 total yards (280 air, 118 ground), 4 TD Kirbyville Totals: 50 plays, 4 first downs, 45 total yards, 0 TD
Looks like Silsbee's got it going on....With them kind of stats Kirbyville has a lot of work to do...Hope they can get it together... :)

Newton Football Begins New Era
Kville_Kats replied to ChampionEagles's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In 1975 Newton had a brand new head Coach that was 0-0 in his career. After 3 State Championship game appearances with 2 wins and 300+ wins overall, that era has ended. Newton has a new head Coach with a 0-0 career record and a new era starts tonight with a scrimmage with Hemphill. W.T. Johnston has some big shoes to fill, but I think he's up to the task. I think Coach Barbay will be smiling as he looks down tonight and sees scat right and scat left plus a few new wrinkles. May all involved be safe. Go Eagles! :)
Good Luck to the Eagles and the new Coach....Hope they have a good season...
