I'll put our Prospects red team up against any team in this area. For the first tournament of the year these boys played very well. We played better on Saturday then we did on Sunday but now that we have knocked the rust off I can't wait to see what these boys can achieve. The Gladiators are a very good team and very well coached and wish them good luck for the year. Maybe we will see each other in the near future.

LOL. I won't stir the pot with you anymore, although I think y'all would lose 11 out of 10 times if y'all played that team. Who coaches that Gladiator team?  I know Harrington coaches the prospects, but I'm not to familar with the Gladiator coach.  He seems pretty stern with them. Even with the big lead they had the othet night, he was still getting in some of their butts.
Probably a good idea if you post threads for your sons team and not the Gladiators. Don't stir the pot with other teams about them, aint too cool!

Prospects were Elite and went 1 and 1 with Brewers. We were told there was no way we should be in this premier touney and finished 3rd. Except for a couple of mental mistakes we should have beaten the Brewers on Sunday. But that is how it happens sometimes. These are 12 yr. old kids. We are very proud of our boys and know that they will work hard and get better and not listen to what other people are saying when we aren't even given a chance.
Prospects have a  very talented team and are well coached,  they should play more Premier tourneys this year.  Should have been Prospects and Gladiators in the final game!

I, for one, don't like using live or dead bait.  I just don't enjoy it.    I would rather catch nothing.  Same goes for rattle traps.  My friends use them and they catch a lot of fish.  I don't like to jack with them.  BTW, I also bow hunt and don't really care much if I kill anything.
So, you are into it for the boat ride and the road trip, you must be on the downhill slide to 60!

What type and size hooks do you prefer for live shrimp?  Finger Mullett?  Shad?  This is always a source of debate with my fishing partners, and I wanted to see what some of you use.
You should be ashamed to admit that you and your friends chunk meat !!! I have just named your boat Meat Chunker!

12...and already having elbow problems???thats not good...better lay off them curve balls...
My son does not throw curve balls they are forbidden at my house! ITs a combination of him using poor mechanics and throwing hard puts alot of stress on the elbow!
Just stay on course with rest and dont listen to the critics.  Fatigue is the primary cause of most injuries in young players, throwing curve balls was not proven to be the cause of most injuries from the LL study.  Agreed, work on other off speed pitches and placement of fastball, he will have plenty of time to develop a curveball later.  When he is ready to throw again, its probably a good idea to have someone look at his mechanics and instruct on the proper warm up procedure. It's worth the $$$.

Is having "select" players on your All Star team bad?  EVERY good All Star team is full of "select" players.  You have to play a lot of baseball to be competitive at a high level. The difference is, In Jasper, our "select" players play TOGETHER for years.  We form teams made up of almost exclusively Jasper kids at the age of 7 or 8 and those kids play together for years.  In other leagues (like WELL) these select players play on different teams with different kids almost every year.  Playing together year round makes a HUGE difference.  Also, for the most part, our select kids stay in league ball, mainly for the oportunity to represent their hometown in All Stars.  Our kids all play baseball together and dedicate themselves with the dream of being a JASPER BULLDOG someday and that is why our baseball program has been so solid for the past several years....because it is a Program.  Our kids, coaches, and parents see the big picture and stay together to groom players for the future of Jasper Baseball.
I have to agree with you OldBallCoach, you guys do see the big picture, that is why you have a successful program in Jasper!

Jasper has done a better job keeping all their kids playing than WELL recently.  So has BC.  It's hard to keep them all playing with the lure of Ford Park just down the road.
:) LOL.
