1.

I believe every game was sold out this year but admit I saw a lot of open areas at one of the games. Man, the majority of the 43 are from the Golden Triangle. You are right, there are a lot of season ticket holders from Mid-County. You mentioned what school your wife went to but didn't mentioned yours, just saying you like LSU. Are you just a T-shirt fan there? You wouldn't be a Lamar alum but rather so to Baton Rouge to see a game? Then to compare a first year FCS program to those like A&M and LSU is ridiculous. What did you expect headed off to Provost Umphrey? I've talked to the people at Lamar about attendance and what they want is more student attendance. Lamar has almost 15,000 students now and if just a 1/3 make the game that would be 5K. Then we need more people from Beaumont. However, we are getting people from Orange, Lumberton, Silsbee and those areas. Then there is the oldest reason in the book to come to Lamar football game and that is the team has to win. Period!
I graduated from LU, but was born in New Orleans and I like LSU. What's your point? I guess if I don't agree with you, you turn to bashing? What a guy ::)
No bashing, as you were the LU alumnus who stated we weren't any good. It was our first year and we had depth problems as well as issues with the O and D line and finally with the QB.  ::) You didn't even care enough to look and see how many players are from the Golden Triangle on the team. If not, you would have never stated we need to recruit locally in the future. Duh, we already have been. You can view the roster at www.lamarcardinals.com. I bet you can tell me how many verbal commitments the LSU Tigers have!  ::) As a child, I lived in Pennsylvania. Guess I should cheer for the Steelers, Eagles, and the University of Pittsburgh?   If you want to go see LSU that is cool you don't have to make any excuses for me. Just don't compare a first year football program and the game day experience at the FCS level in the SLC to the game day experience and football team at LSU in the SEC or Texas A&M of the Big XII. It will never compare I don't care how much Dr Simmons does for the university and if he can get some private development around the Lamar campus. They can have 8k students living on campus and we move to the WAC. Lamar will never be a Top 25 team at the FBS level. It doesn't have to be for me to be proud of Lamar. My degree and all my family who are Lamar alumni or relatives currently attending Lamar as well as my step father retiring from Lamar and the fact my father worked at Lamar is reasons enough for me to be proud of Lamar University. So, I'm fine with where Lamar is and where it is going.   I believe AAW, loves the Aggies and you don't see me saying anything to him. Nor do I say anything to Kuckdad who is a Lamar alumnus but also graduated from Texas Tech and talks about them. Hoop_Insider is a UH alumnus and I don't have problems with him. UNLV, talks about what Lamar should do and talks about what they did at UNLV and I don't have problems with him. A guy that bashes a first year FCS football program; which he is an alumnus of I take note. Here is your quote. Sorry for bashing the team, but it wasn't like watching college football. What a guy!  ::)
2.
We can have all of the offensive firepower in the world, but you have to know how to use it. We have the same OC as last year. Hopefully this next year will be different.
Last year we have offensive and defensive line issues. I believe they addressed this during recruiting as we added a transfer from Missouri, 2 juco All-Conference lineman, a verbal from a SETXsports.com 2nd team and Beaumont Enterprise 1st Team O-lineman from West Brook and there is a rumor of another SETXsports.com 1st Team and Beaumont Enterprise 1st Team O-lineman from Kirbyville. Having better players an the offensive line with help with the run game and passing attack. We are deep at the WR position so adding 2 quality RB's and a FBS transfer at QB will only help.
3. Is there any chance of landing Caleb Cucancic? I know this is getting greedy.  ;D
4. Man, if he signs with Lamar he could own every single rushing record at Lamar. AAW you are right, there is no way he comes here without Jeremy Johnson. This would be huge for the program! Our rushing attack just got 100% better as we will have WO-S' All-Time leading rusher in Garrett and Kirbyville's All-time leading rusher in Ford. Man, I am pumped about this coming season as SHSU showed a freshman RB can make a different in the SLC race. I think we have the potential to have the best offense in the SLC. With some improvement on defense we could challenge for the SLC title in our 2nd year. When are season tickets going on sell?  ;D [Hidden Content]_
5. I have heard that an O-lineman from Kirbyville was coming to Lamar. This came for a man who lives in Kirbyville and follows the team pretty close. He is a Social Worker and a SFA alum. So, I guess take that with a gain of salt.
6. LT, thanks for the compliment. I agree we have talent on this team but there is also shortcomings. Lamb is a great athlete and is a rebounding machine but he is hitting just above .52 on his FT attempts and he is a college basketball player. That is terrible and has to hurt Coach Roc's rotation in the final minutes. Does he keep Lamb in the game for his athletic ability to make plays or take him out because the other teams knows who to foul. You are right, we do have two road wins in conference but UCA is 4-12 and UTA is 6-9 on the season. I agree if Coach Roc can get us to the "Big Dance" for the first time since Coach Deane's first team than I too would support him staying. Personally, I like the man. He loves Lamar, he is a Lamar alum, he and his family are from this area so I am pulling for him to be successful. I believe if he were to turn the program around he would stay awhile and not leave at the first opportunity. I hope he can salvage the season!
7. The next signing period is in early Feb. and I only know of three players who have verbally committed to Lamar. 1. Dionte Forney 6-5, 250 lbs QB from Nederland 2. Justin Brock 6-4, 260 lbs OT from West Brook 3. John Prescott 5-11, 275 lbs DT from Ozen by way of Cisco College
8. It needs to have some shaded areas. I can't think of the word for the structure I'm referring to but all the big-time programs have them.
9. Man, the Lions must be playing some good ball to win 8 games in a row.
10. Sounds like they are going to build a new facility for that much. They don't need to do anything to the fence as it was just built after the last Hurricane. I agree about the field turf as the baseball surface as that is kind of different. But, that is less maintenance for the team to deal with before and after games.
11. Actually the way I read this is in 2011 they will spend $3,750,000. Then is 2012 another $750,000 will be spent on Vincent-Beck and finally 2013, Lamar will add an additional $500,000 to the renovation project. Total, that is $5 million. That would be a complete facelift to that facility. Coach G will have a great recruiting tool with a facility worth more than $5,000,000. The renovations and constructions scheduled through 2014 is in the amount of $157,670,000. That isn't counting the cost of other phases of Cardinal Village or the baseball renovations or the construction of a softball complex which is listed to cost $1,200,000. If this site is accurate there is going to be a lot of construction over the next 3 years at Lamar University.
12. Agree, with both points but are they worth staying in a FCS conference if a WAC invite is on the table?
13. I think the women lose my a couple of points as the Sugar Bears are good at home and the men win a close game at the Montagne.
14.
I agree, Dale. I am a season ticket holder and will go to games the rest of the season. But I will certainly think twice about being a season ticket holder for next season if things do not change. We still have some season left, things could get better, we'll see. I just do not see Roc taking this program to where we want it to go.
Mike, I agree with your comment. I have come to see Roc isn't the man to take this program to where it need to be. In my opinion, being the highest paid Head Coach, best facilities in the conference, best attendance and have the support of the administration to have funding for 3 full time assistances and 1 director of basketball operations and an AD that wants Roc to success and allow him to make his own schedule. This program should be competing for conference championships every year. They should not just be happy to make the SLC tournament. I really hope Coach Tidwell and Dr. Simmons puts their personal feelings aside and does what is best for the future of the Men's basketball program.
15. Only thing is the other teams will have better talent too.
16.
Roc is not a defensive coach and never will.  Kasper at SFA knows how to teach defense so they always have solid teams.  But even after this loss Lamar should make the SLC tourney, and the SLC is weak so anything can happen. I'm afraid this team will get hot at the end of season and sneak into the NCAA tourney as a 16 seed and promptly get blown out.  But with most of the team back for next year, the brass will say Roc has turned the ship around and keep him for another 5 years.
God Coach, are you trying to make me depressed. I say the 4 1/2 years outweigh anything Coach Roc and the Men's team can do short of winning the SLC tournament championship. Anything else and IMO there should be a change. UH let Penders go after making it to the NCAA tournament last year.
17. Well, I took me awhile to see the coaching staff for what they are and it doesn't look good. Coach Tidwell and Dr. Simmons will have to make a difficult decision and let Coach Roc and his staff go. I hate it, people losing their jobs but Coach Roc may go to a place that can pay him more than he is making here. This staff just hasn't done the job and people are going to stop going to games if they already haven't.
18. Just about 6 inches shorter. I can see that comparison.
19. Lamb is a great athlete. He just can't shoot.
20. This will be the 5-6 game to lead by double digit and lose. If this happens I don't care about the reason of the season because it can't be too much better. LU will need a new Head Coach!
21. Like I said earlier, we can't just shoot from the perimeter on the road. We got to attack the basket and maybe get fouled.
22. Okay, we have another double digit lead at half. Let's see if there is a different outcome!
