1. Well 70s and 80s are over with and gone. Forget about them because they are never going to come back (at least not the 1970s and 1980s).
2. That's okay. I was just trying to give you a hard time, all in good fun though.  ;)
3.

I'll play the devil's advocate here. Suppose the AD is attempting to protect the coaches at his schools. If retainment of coaching staffs are based on performance then why not give the coaches a tool to help them strengthen their programs? That tool could blowup in their face, but a tool nonetheless. I think that most select teams work around fall HS sports to some extent. Players might lose some softball game playing time or even have someone overtake their position due to their absence, but, as a player, they should know those consequences going into to it and accept the outcome. The same should be true if the roles were reversed.
Good post. Here is another one for you. Once he lets one then he will have to let everyone and a snowball effect begins. May start out as a few then next thing you know it is 20 (10 boys and 10 girls). At a small school your kids who play select ball are usually your better athletes. We had two of our best athlete last year specialize in one sport and it was not football. This year we have 3 maybe more. It is right for these select coach to try to convince these kids into playing one sport? And you guys know they do. Also what about these parents who schedule vacation the first week of August because they either forgot or did not know for some reason there was practice that week. Yes, it does happen. I understand these are all isolated incidents but they do happen. When is enough, Enough? I thought an AD was suppose to look after all sports not just Softball. 20 is a little overkill but if you give people an inch they will take a mile.
You miss the point...the point IS....ONLY high coaches pose consequences toward select sports or club sports......you will NEVER see a select or club coach punish a kid for playing HS sports! Truth be told, any HS sport that is competitive is so because of the number of select/club players they have...PERIOD! Then they want to punish them for it! go figure! The main reason its a problem (for Texas) is that we start school so early. Most states do not start school until after Labor Day, therefore its not an issue! and you can fool yourselves if you want...but if this were a discussion about boys (particularly football)  the "rules" would be different....that is a FACT!
I agree. The high school coaches would bend over backwards to meet the needs of a football player, but when it comes to the sports on the back burner, they simply don't care. They say stay in shape, exercise, etc., but when the player does it during the summer like they said and it runs into the summer training, it is all of a sudden a problem.
4. I should have known that a WOS picture would be first.  ;D :D ;)
5. That must be what they (the numerous people) have meant-that y'all are really, really competitive.
6. But didn't hear that alot last year when we played them. I think I heard him say a couple times "Crap!!! another PNG TD" ;D ;D ;D ;D
:D :D :D :D
7. That's what I have always heard in both athletics and academics.
8. Congrats Aggie! I think you should take the offer.  ;)
9. I bet those kids will be tired by the end of the day in this heat. That is for sure.
10. PN-G is a powerhouse and always has been since I can remember, but LC-M has also been pretty decent. I think it will be a nailbiter, but PN-G will probably win by no more than 7 points.
11. I followed the thread in the High School Softball forum and decided to check this one out. Now to be on topic, at least in Girls' Athletics at Dayton, from what I can tell the coaches allow the girls to be in both and actually encourage them to. For example, even though these are both school teams, last year the basketball season ran into the practices for softball. Well since the basketball coach is an assistant softball coach, he told the girls to concentrate on  the basketball playoffs and when bball is over, then concentrate on softball. I have a friend who plays both select ball and high school sports. For her at least, there hasn't been any problems with the select coaches and those at DHS. Seems that they must plan around each other.
12. Sounds like they have pretty good taste (and probably needed the protein  ;) ).
13. Where my mom stepped on a snake, though, was here at home in Dayton. Come to find out several people around Dayton have been having snake problems.
14. If you go 290 to the Beltway to 90 Google says that it will take you 2.5 hours and if you go 105 to 321 it will take you 2.25 hours. I will let you make your own judgement though.
15. The easiest way to get to Dayton from Brenham is to catch 290 and take it all the way to Houston. Then, take the North Beltway on around to Hwy. 90 and go east. That will run you right into Dayton. Or you can get on Hwy 105 and take it all of the way to Cleveland, then get on 321 and run into Dayton. This way may be a little longer, but you will not have to pay tolls like you will if you take the first way and go on Beltway 8. As for restaurants:

Los Compadres is the most preferred (by the people of Dayton) of the two Mexican food restauants in town, but Jose's is just as satisfying.
The Branding Iron has about the same cuisine as K-Bob's in Brenham.
We also have a place called the Country Kitchen that has a full menu all day (I recommend the pancakes, even for supper).
Of course we have several fast food restaurants in Dayton: Burger King, McDonalds, Sonic, Subway, Hartz Chicken, and Dairy Queen.
Hope this helps Brenhamfan.
16. liltex, my dad and brother are on a deer lease in Junction owned by a guy named Tom. And we found a two-foot-long snake in our house. My mom stepped on it at midnight going to the restroom area. Lucky for her it was just a chicken snake.
17. In the playoffs, everyone from 1A-5A is D1 and D2 in football.
