Adminbaberuth, thanks for always posting fairly and positively. Other than you this year, no one is talking about HF. Hmmmm.... maybe theyll start talking when they make the playoffs.Time will tell.

HF 9  Huntington 1.  Jannise started and pitched 3 innings.  Chapman pitched the next 4.

You are correct. Lumberton hit well and their pitcher Townsend gave up only 1 hit. Chapman from HF had a hit and a walk. Townsend  only gave up 4 walks total if i remember right. HF had a few errors in the infield, but their failure to hit was the big factor.

Chapman, Levingston and Wendling will likely alternate starts for HF with a few underclassmen filling in the gaps. As for a No.1, it will be up to the coach to set his #1 spot.

Yes Admin. A great big thanks for WOSgrad. He does a great job and should be commended for his efforts. I will also try and help with stats and reports when I can. Please let us know if it will be  any  particular posts  or will change weekly.Once again thanks to all, and good luck to all!  ;D

Dont know too much about HJ, but the pitching for HF will be the key. Chapman,Wendling, and Levingston will lead the way, with a few underclassmen getting their work too. Chapmans speed has moved him to center field with a very capable Miguez at short. Catcher Markum will anchor this group with a consistent bat and leadership. These above mentioned pitchers will not hit 90 mph as Silsbees squad has been reported to do, but all are from 75-85 and change speeds well. HF returns 7 starters from last year, so experience should be on their side. I will try to keep the forum updated on their records, averages, and scores to hopefully promote these quality young underdogs.  I would also like to see someone with ties to HJ to do the same.  :)

Its seems the talk in 21 3a is about Bridge City, Orangefield, and W.O.S. in the Beaumont Enterprise. In the forums, its all about Silsbees resurgence because of the return of their pitching. HF and HJ have not been mentioned and im sure they probably like it that way. HJ lost their talented pitcher Duplant to Nederland, and HF lost its ace pitcher  Johnson because he graduated last year. Both teams are maturing but it still remains to be seen if they can make some noise for a playoff run this year. With no media attention, pressure, or high expectations, a team playing with a "nothing to lose" attitude could spell danger for the others in the district. Careful not to crown a champion just yet. ;)

Bridge City always produces quality contenders and are well coached. WOS coach is outstanding about getting the most from his guys. HF, Silsbee, and OF are the wildcards here. Can OF reload from losing a ton of talent? Can Silsbee come together as a team with the return of their pitching? Can HFs pitching be consistent as their young bats have now matured? Coaching is the key from these 3. Lets see who can pull it together when the races heat up. Good luck to all. Look forward to an EPIC district race in 2011.

Dont be so sure Johnson is pitching tonight. Coach Mahaffey has done some strange things this year.

Some good points were made in the above post,(although the spelling and grammar are a bit shaky...lol), but the Horns knew this was coming. They lost all their starters from last year except Johnson,Markum, and Minaldi. And with Johnson only pitching, they replaced 7 of 9 players in the field. The majority of these were filled by Sophomores and Freshmen, and they along with a couple of Juniors are struggling at key times. They knew there would be tough times, especially when you face the best of the best Varsity pitching week in and week out. As the close losses add up, the pressure to perform and win for their Senior leaders becomes a heavy burden on these young players. But make no mistake, there is no quit in these guys because they know they can play, and the experience from this years tough games will carry over and create a confidence for the next couple. HF has had hard times going o-fer in football district, as well as basketball. The mood may be disappointing at the moment, but theres still a few games left to play. I wouldnt count out the Horns in the rest of baseball district. They might just decide to grow up a little in the next few games.

The shortstop this year for HF is Adam Chapman. This is his first year at short and hes a junior. I am very sure hes never acted in the way youre speaking. You may wanna do some research before you accuse players you know nothing about.
