1. Is this game Friday or Saturday?  Thought I heard it was being played on Sat.  If so, does anyone know kickoff time? Thanks
 2. Is the same percentage of administration staff being cut as teachers? I really don't know the ratio of administrators to teachers, but I believe, that if your district needs to reduce teachers by say 10%, then shouldn't administration be cut by the same amount? I know that administration is important, but are they as important as the teacher in the classroom?  I don't know....that's why I am asking.
 3.

its funny that the refs call a good game when you win------but they sure are lousy when you loose
The refs need to leave the agendas at the house. Those that have them know who they are. I can predict whether or not we will have foul problems when I get the first look to see who will be reffing our game. I can even predict it for a couple of other teams. These certain guys execute their agenda year in and year out!
Then produce the evidence, take it to UIL and these refs will certainly not be allowed to ref your games (and probably not any others as well).  But please, do not get on here and say something like this if you don't have the evidence or proof to back it up. JMO
 4.
the old argument "if you don't like how they do it then suit up and do it yourself" is lame. i didn't sign up to nor accept pay (however poor it is) to do it, they did and they should do it fairly without emotion or bias. alot of officials do it for the love of the sport not the pay, kudos to those who do. i'd bet they're among the best. if we run out of officials, oh well. i'd be just as happy with the kids calling their own compared to some of the mess i've seen this year. i swear i think the kids would be fairer to each other than some of the grown men calling.
Are you kidding me?  You never have done it, yet you are an expert.  You, without ever officiating a game can tell refs, that have gone thru at least some training, how it should be done?  As was posted earlier "man up", put on a shirt and experience it.  Then get on a board and read all the threads about how terrible you are at calling a game. ;D
 5.
I wouldnt have a problem if they were held accountable and would call the game by the rules, I get so tired of officials allowing teams to ride or handcheck a player in the game for the entire game and also crashing the boards.  It has become where the players are rewarded for being faster and stronger, not rewarded for the skills the make the game the beauty that it is at times and should be always.
A coach once told me to play the game the way it is called.  Don't whine about it, just play the way the refs will let you play........I thought it was good advice, I stopped worrying so much about the officiating and concentrated more on my game.
 6.
SETX refs suck the worst
These comments crack me up!  Have you ever tried to officiate a game?  If you are able to give such criticism,  then I would think that you should be able to call games.  Join TASO and increase the performance level that you say is so bad............I mean by looking at your screen name, you must suck at being Santa so why not become a ref and change it to Refssogood ;D
 7.

Yep, left all 3 on the board.
It may have just been poor coaching/clock management, but from the stands what I saw was more troubling.  It looked to me like the coaches quit on the boys.  On both the 3rd and 4th down plays that ended Nederland's offensive night, there were potential pass interference penalties right along the Nederland sidelines.  I expected the Nederland coaches to be going nuts.  They weren't.  I'm sure they said something, but there was clearly no passion.  That, coupled with leaving the 3 TOs on the board, makes me concerned that the coaches gave up.  I hope that isn't what happened because the kids never gave up.
These forums crack me up.....on this board, fans are upset becuase they "expected the Nederland coaches to be going nuts" and over on the Barbers Hill board, they are complaining because the coaches were going nuts.  Its funny that on every board, when a team loses, it is always the coaches fault.  They should have passed more if they ran the ball, they should have run the ball more if they passed, it was the refs faults, etc, etc....  More times than not, the team with the best athletes wins (IMO).  Maybe this year, Vidor is just a little more athletic than Nederland (I don't know, because I have never seen either play).  But I think history proves the coaching ability of the Nederland staff.  I mean, I don't remember the last year that Nederland was not in the playoffs.

 9.
Here is my opinion: I think we can relate the state of the world's economy to this particular sitiuation.  All the bailouts were needed because someone was GIVEN something because it was politically correct. Athletes and parents in today's time expect the samething, equal time and treatment. Unfortunatley, when these mislead kids get into the real world they want the same treatment but mom and dad can't intervene.  Point in hand, school and athletics play a key role in training our children for their future and I am not talking just academics. Adversity, challanges, failures and discontent are things that build character but some parents do not want there children to experience these things.   What happen to the day where it was prideful to just to be a part of a the team, get a uniform and HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY.  Bottom line when your child goes to work for his first time and he is not getting enough hours, working in the wrong department, feeling as if they are not being treated the same as the others they have 2 options: quit are pull up the bootstraps and grind to be noticed.  If I am not mistaking this is what used to be refered to as climbing the ladder of success.  Too many want to jump from the bottom to the top but you miss all the important steps in between.  Enough said!!!. By the way NPC stands for Never Politically Correct. Excellent post NPC
10. So.........let them play, only not in their "game" uniforms.......what is the big deal?
 11. Wonder which version is the truth? Hard to say, but I would bet the coach's version is probably more accurate.  I believe the media would have named the coaches that were charged if there was anything to the story, plus, the anchor lost credibility with me when she indicated that one of the coaches had an outstanding arrest warrant.  Sensationalizing to make more of a story than is really there.
 12.
And I believe most of those schools are successful in basketball! Its hilarious that you are still whining about this! ;) ;)
[IMG][Hidden Content];
 13. There are a lot of comments on this thread about all these schools that have "universal off-season" and players that have to "lift on game day".  So I would expect anyone that has made these claims to be able to provide the answers.  I am just curious as to which schools would make their players lift on game day.  If you are going to make the accusation, then back it up is all I am saying.
Just look at those with decent football programs and underachieving basketball programs and you will, in most cases, have your answer.
Let's try again............which schools have "universal off-season" and which schools lift on game day? [IMG][Hidden Content]]

 16. I know this may be late in asking........but just what exactly is "universal weight lifting"? I read that term being thrown around a lot but no one has really defined it. Usually, when the word universal is used, it usually means it includes all things.  So until I am informed (or maybe corrected), or can have this explained to me, then I would have to assume that "universal weight lifting" would include lifts that would help athletes in all sports (I have also seen the term "universal off season" and I would interpret that the same way).
 17.
So glad you finally asked the question, and yes I see them playing all the time. But, really doesnt matter now.Potential wont be reached. Kinda sad actually!!!
Please explain?  On one hand you say you "see them playing all the time", then on the other you say "really doesnt matter now.Potential wont be reached". How can this not help?
 18.
I just drove thru the middle of my town, Silsbee, after coming back from the hospital in Beaumont. I just saw about 15-20 kids walking in a group thru the middle of town with about 6 of them carrying or dribbling basketballs. By the looks of their sweaty shirts and shorts, it looks like these young men had been hooping somewhere today. ;)
Has anyone seen a group of kids playing basketball in the Hamshire Fannett area?  Probably a correlation there.
 19. I just read this thread last night and something came to my mind.  I remember driving through Gilbert Lake Estates a couple of months ago ( I have some interest in moving to that area), and was trying to gauge if the addition had many children.  One of the things that I look for is basketball goals in the driveways.  To my surprise, I saw very few.  Does this mean anything?  Is there a restriction against it?  I don't know, but I may drive out there again and see if anything has changed. I remember when growing up, we had "open gyms" to play in, but, we played more in the neighborhood driveway than we did at the gym.  Why?  The drive way was always open, you could shoot anytime you wanted and there always seemed to be enough interest in the neighborhood to have at least a 2 on 2 going.  Does this happen out in the Hamshire Fannett area?  If not, this could be one of the major reasons that the HS program has not had success lately.  In my opinion, kids need to play the game as much as possible.....it will only make them better and the best place to start is in the driveway.  Also, practice what your coach teaches you or wants you to learn "in the driveway".  This will have you better prepared for the basketball season (as well as some strength training and agilities). JMO :)
 20. I believe anyone that is honorable and humble would decline having something named after them until they had retired or moved on. The honorable thing to do (in my opinion) would be to say thank you for the kind gesture, but lets see if we can't sell the naming rights (for additional revenue), but if you feel strongly about naming something after me, name the field house or field itself. But that's just my opinion
 21.
IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT FORNEY WOULD NOT BE THE STARTING QUARTERBACK FOR THE 2010 SEASON. NOW IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME THIS PROGRAM WAS ON LIFE SUPPORT PRIOR TO HIM BECOMING THE QB. NOW IF THIS INFO THAT I RECEIVED IS CORRECT, I WILL START TO WONDER IF THE COACH IS THINKING WITH HIS HEART OR HIS HEAD. CHECK THIS KIDS STATS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME!!!!!                PA PC Pct Yds TD Int          2009  120 66 55.0 941 11 4 [/quotI I love to read post from people like you ;D  Nederland has had success for years with Neumann and his assistants evaluating their players and putting them in the best place to make Nederland successful, yet, you are going to question their decisions? Now maybe I am wrong here, but I bet that Neumann and his staff spend many hours with their players and are quite aware of their abilities.  But let me guess, you know more than they do? ::) ???
 22. Beaumont was born because of Spindletop.  Why not name it Spindletop Stadium and then name the field house after the Dr. Thomas?
 23.
The main problem I have with the naming is the loss of revenue.  They could have sold the naming rights to the complex and then named the field after him if that is what they decided to do.  Motiva, Goodyear, etc probably would have paid money to have their name on the complex.  Poor thinking by the board.
Very good point.  I believe the naming rights would have capable of bringing in serious dollars because of the location on I-10. I don't remember the exact numbers, but selling the name "Ford Park" generated some much needed revenue for the county.
