They called a 7'3 kid from New York a "phenom" a few years back...His name was Shangarre Alleyne...Played for Brother Rice in New York, went to Kentucky...anybody ever hear from this kid again? I know.....I haven't either! ;)

Tires are now flat. Holy cow what has happened?

I wouldn't say the tires have fallen off.  The team is still playing well, they had a huge win against BH Tuesday night.  Still lots of ball to play.  I think they will still be able to get a playoff spot.  Have faith.  The kids are playing hard and the coaches are doing a great job.

Let me set this straight, Dan Hooks is not scared of Dayton and neither Jerry Stewart nor Joel Hancock are scared of West Orange-Stark.

All of this (here anyway) started with some person by the name of "morethanyouknow" whose name should really be "lessthanIthink" who with his very first post on this message board spread some misinformation as to why West Orange-Stark decided not to scrimmage Dayton next year in an attempt to make it sound like WO-S didn't want to scrimmage out of fear of Dayton.  His myths were quickly debunked and should no longer hold weight.

By the same token, I know that Dayton's decision to no longer play West Orange-Stark in the regular season is by no means motivated by fear.

    Good points Grad....
Anyone who really knows anything about these two programs know that the respect for each other runs deep. Not just among the coaches, but among the players and fans as well.  I am sure that there will come a time when the two schools will meet up and play again.  Probably due to lack of other teams willing to play them.  Good luck to the Mustangs and to the Broncos as both schools prepare to continue the excellence that has been established.  It should be an exciting year for both schools.

This is why Stewart had 0 mercy on running up the score in the 3rd quarter then finally putting his second string in at the 4th quarter. With that said they both did wrong with wearing purple for punishment and also Stewart stacking his team and not shaking Gages' hand after the game.

I guess Dayton's coaches should have told their players to stop picking up those fumbles and they should have never started stacking the Freshman "A" team with "B" team players.

There needs to be a separate Dayton excuse thread. If, if, if.  If we hadn't have given the ball away.... If the refs would have blown 4 more inadvertant whistles... People who were at the Crosby/Dayton game know that with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter a Cougar OLB ran a pick six back on a screen pass but the ref on the Dayton sidelines blew the whistle in the middle of the play. There was no flag. And the player who intercepted the pass never came close to going down, in fact he never left his feet.  That was not an unforced error.  Give credit to Crosby's defense. And when Ploch was scrambling in the late 3rd/early 4th quarter and got popped, that was not an unforced error.  The other two or three times on special teams, well that's part of football.  It's not like this was a 1 point game.  Dayton lost.  Dayton got shut out by probably it's biggest rival.  In a game between two undefeated district teams, Dayton could not stop Crosby. I'm sorry you can't get over it.

    In the words of Ranger83
Even a blind hog can find an acorn every once in a while.

Dayton's dominance over Crosby is not diminished by 1 loss.  We are over it.  Good luck to Crosby in the playoffs.  We will see them next year in Dayton.  50 weeks and counting down
  6. Lucky, Lucky, Lucky..

Thanks Lion fan good post.... Your team played great.  It was a great football game.

LHSAlumni.....Just can't handle the fact that the Broncos get to keep playing.  Thats too bad....come on over to Dayton Friday night and see what 2nd round playoffs in 2008 looks like.

  7. Livingstons plan almost worked.  They controlled the clock tonight.  Dayton's offense was just to much in this one.  Wasn't much defense on either side but Dayton had a key stop there at the end of the game.  Going to be interesting the rest of the way.

Where was the big 40+ point blowout?  Everyone thought I was crazy on the prediction thread when I was picking Livingston.  A couple different plays late in the game and it would have been a different outcome.

Dayton is a good team but the looking forward to the state championship game is going to catch them one night.  Best of luck Dayton and congrats to Livingston on a great year.

Apparently Raiderfan87 thinks that gameplans and practices are based on what the message board says....

BTW hows it feel getting beat by the team that Dayton dominates

  8. Until now I have withheld judgement on the Dayton defense. My reasoning was that with the loss of 5 starters this summer and injuries to Crowder, Brown, and losing Barton to academics there was no way the Bronco staff could pick up the pieces. I was wrong. This defense looks very good to me especially against the run. With LT and Friendswood in D-1 I believe Dayton has a very good chance to bring home a ring.

yeah but what about Dayton's Pass Defense??? Friendswood and Lake Travis killed yall on the pass BH showed signs of beating yall with the pass earlier in the 1st Half. Watch out for a upset in the first round against Livingston ;) ;) ;)

Barbers Hill had 133 passing yards and 1 TD pass against Dayton. Carmona threw for 1,621 yards this season and 15 TDs. Daytons defense has had 5 TD passes scored on them this season, 1 in district play. 4 of those were from the Friendswood game, by the way our senior starting safety was out with an injury that game. Karam has 31 passing TD's this season, it is no insult or point of embarassment for a short handed defense to hold karam to 4 TD passes.

Key word District play.. Dayton's district is very weak.

How weak does it look now LHSALUMNI?

  9. I love the STEWART AIN'T MUCH FOR SHOW  comment That is funny because I have seen Dayton live and on film and They want to show-boat every time they make a run, make a catch or make a big hit. I have even watch the coaching staff for Dayton and Some of them seem to just as much hoop n hollaring as the players do. Good Luck in the playoffs Dayton I dont think you have a coaching problem there for a long time.

People on the wrong end of a good play often mistake joy and excitement for showboating...

  10. I believe whom ever has the ball last will win the game..Lumberton played us in a scrimmage before the season and we played Crosby in district.I don't think yaw have the speed to stop Crosby and we all know Crosby has no defense. So this will be a high scoring game going down to the wire..Lumberton will rush for 400+ yards and Crosby will rush for 200 and pass for 200.Crosby has great speed at the skilled positions, the one receiver #7 and the Casey kid can fly and even there QB whom is big about 6'4 and i believe is a SOPH can also fly,but like i said they have no defense, espicially there linebackers,so that means ball control wins the game.

    Lumberton-35

    Crosby-31

Pretty good analysis.  I do think that Lumberton will stop Crosby more than Crosby will stop Lumberton.  I say Lumberton by at least two touchdowns.

BTW this may be the only game 20-AAAA wins this week in the playoffs.

  11. Look at the play on Toup's website and I think you'll see what I mean.  50 or 60 yard td pass in the boxscore...but then you watch the play and see that it was actually a badly thrown ball where AJ had to wait for a good half second and the DB almost makes the play.  He then jukes the next guy so bad he just flat falls down and takes it "to da house."  I'm worried about better teams taking that one the other way.

Yeah well, you worry too much.  Your criticisms of a high school quarterback are over the top.  I am not sure what more you want from a kid, but he is doing a great job.

  12. One other prediction.  These teams are full of hot-heads from the staff down.  You can be sure there will be at least 1 fight in this game.  Also, one or both coaches will make unprofessional commens in the Baytown Sun the next day.  This is their style of coaching and play.

Dayton and Crosby have a heated rivalry, but to predict a fight in a high school game is just wrong. Coaches who tell the truth should not be chastised either. Stick to predicting the score

  13. Someone tell me something about them. I know they are young and this is their first year but they seem to be throwing up some pretty good points. Do they have a good offense and their defense just not up to par or do they post majority of their points in the late second half? Just curious.

They got a big goose egg against us...but they had some decent players.
