  1. If the school district has a better chemistry lab than the one they have at home, should they be allowed to utilize that also?  What about districts which provide the students with a laptop?  Should home schoolers be allowed to pick up their laptop for use at home?  They pay taxes.  If you require athletes to be in an athletic period to participate, do you require the same for them?  Do you give them a grade?  This country is being run by a bunch of former pe kids!  God help us!
  2. Why is there never any talk of soccer concussions?  Why aren't there a bunch of ex-boxers who are babbling idiots with all of the concussions they must receive in training and actual fights?  Just wondering how legitimate the actual problem is among athletes and how much is blown out of proportion.  Steroids was the last big topic and prior to that heat illness and prior to that genetic heart conditions.....  All of these are serious problems but they seem to fade from the spotlight after they no longer generate knee jerk reactions from politicians.  Someone made a lot of money on the backs of tax payers providing millions of dollars of steroid testing!
  3. You are correct, sig, Cinco Ranch is 2800.  I looked at Cy Ranch.
  4. Granted Deer Park does have 1000 more students than Westbrook, in 2010 Pearland knocked Westbrook out of the playoffs with an enrollment of 2942.  In 2009, the Bruins were defeated by Cinco Rance with an enrollment of 2000.  According to last year's UIL numbers, Westbrook had a larger enrollment than most teams they played.
  5. With respect to the candidates, has anyone on here compared the number of playoff games each has taken his team to in the last 3 years as compared to Faircloth?  5 years as compared to Stump?  What about offensive statistics last season as compared to these two highly respected coaches?  Points per game?  Just curious what the numbers show?

  7. Once again, the posters of an internet website show their ignorance of the game.  Most, if not all, of the posters regarding Crosby's defense do not understand anything but how to count down linemen.  Therefore, Crosby played a 3 man defense and did not give theirselves a chance to win.  Checking the district stats for the year against common opponents, Crosby's defense ranks third overall behind two teams whose offenses dictate the number of snaps the opponent is given (Barbers Hill & Goose Creek Memorial).  Secondly, in the Vidor game, Crosby allowed the second lowest yards per rushing attempt of Vidor's 13 game season.  For the coaches who occasionally visit this site, please post the forum address of the refinery worker bashing forum so we may also show our ignorance regarding your profession.  Most coaches watch the refineries as we drive by them so we should also be allowed a chance to tell you what idiots you are do to stock market fluctuations with your company. Now that I have you all excited and defensive, Crosby lost the game and Vidor did a great job throughout the entire season.  A few things to consider: -40 times don't make football players -The same coaches you are bashing now were the ones you were bragging on two years ago or at least they were the ones coaching the players you felt were winning regardless of the coaches -If the school has a history, good or bad, it is more than likely due to your Y chromosome rather than the coaching (ie. if they have been winning forever or if they haven't been to the playoffs ever or won a playoff game since 1964)
  8. This reporter is an idiot.  Doubt he has ever been to a Crosby game.
  9. Red, your son is lying to you.  This has been a testing week for the athletes.  They have maxed on all lifts and running events.  Same schedule they do every year.  Pretty similar to every program in the state I would guess.  There is no workout on the board because the coaches would like to get accurate data as they crank up the off-season next week.

  11. Isn't it always politics if your kid doesn't get the playing time a parent would like?  I like the "all the other players know" he's the best player reasoning.  Assuming you are referring to high school football and not little league football where the head coaches' son almost always gets to play quarterback and rightfully so if his dad gives up his time to coach.  You are setting this up to be a disgruntled parent page.
  12. Is Coach Stewart going to coach next year?
  13. I truly hope so.  I guess it really comes down to what each kid likes to do.  I'm not really sure what a "future" in baseball, football, basketball or anything else really means.  If a kid doesn't like something and decides to do something else he does like, that certainly makes sense.  If a kid likes playing one sport but decides to focus on his "future" in another sport, I don't really see the difference in that and working for truck insurance.  Actually, the truck insurance thing is more of a future.  Again, I hope this kid and every other has success in all his endeavors and lives without regrets.
  14. Don't know the kid but I'll bet he'll be just like the other 99% I do know who will regret the decision 10 years down the road.  When all his buddies are telling stories about hanging out in the locker room and playing football, he'll be left out of the conversation.  Most of these decisions are short sided just like a kid who decides to work to pay for truck insurance instead of playing high school athletics.  Kids don't always know what is best for them but they have to live with the consequences down the road.  I would say the same about a kid who decides to concentrate on football and not play baseball in the spring also.  Just my opinion.  I am sure all the "fall ball" advocates will now express theirs.
  15. Crosby vs Brenham Saturday @ 7pm Georgetown HS
  16. I would like to know how many kids have moved into Yates high school to play basketball in the last two years since the current head coach signed on.  Just look how he shopped his own kid in high school to see his beliefs.  Pathetic.  High school basketball has been ruined by the current UIL admin. allowing this type of non-sense.
  17. Where did Xavier Franks sign?  I don't see his name.  Didn't he move from Crosby to get better offers?
  18. When will the Baytown Sun do an open records request for the list of applicants?
  19. Crosby only sends the ones they don't want to Dayton.
  20. Why in the world would it not be appropriate to know how your elected officials voted on a specific item?  Aren't they supposed to be the voice of the community?  You are correct in that, if we do not agree with their decisions, we should run for school board.  It would be beneficial to know what their decision was on an individual basis.  That is not cowardice, it is democracy.  If they do not accurately represent the community in their decisions, they should not be in a decision making process in the first place.  I think Don Price put his decisions out for everyone to see on a daily basis.  Why wouldn't we hold the school board to the same standard?
  21. Someone who knows, please post BH board members and how they stood on this issue.  Also, who is up for re-election this year.  Thank you.
  22. I think Barbers Hill should look for the following in their new head coach/athletic director: 1)  A proven winner as a football coach at least 80% lifetime winning percentage as a head coach 2)  Someone who has shown they can win over time not just one or two years (at least 100 wins as a head coach) 3)  Someone who has consistently taken his football teams to the playoffs (75% of the time) 4)  Someone who has made the playoffs at the 4A level with a small enrollment (50% in the playoffs and a district championship once in 4 years would be great) 5)  Someone who has been an athletic director and had success in all other sports also (multiple district championships in cross-country, volleyball, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, and golf) 6)  A good Christian man with high morals and values 7)  Someone who can direct the district in building projects as needed 8)  Someone who can oversee various events such as district track and cross-country meets, golf tournaments, playoff games, etc. with a high level of professionalism and knowledge to ensure they are handled properly 9)  Someone well respected by area coaches and athletic directors Does anyone think Barbers Hill will be able to find this person?  You just allowed a small group of parents and spineless administrators run him off.  Morons!
