As a person that was part of the process - DO NOT turn this into a bashing of a coach that has not even started yet. The profession is difficult enough as it is.  He will do a great job at Anahuac and everybody in the community should be supportive of him.

Can state without hesitation - It is not a racial thing.  Good Lord - get a grip.  You want to know why call me, otherwise stop with the racial comments.  Scrimmaged Nederland this past year and they were a class act just like Vidor is - think a little and quit trying to stir the pot.

A petition going around to fire a coach over a logo - that is good stuff.  I guess those people want to fire a head coach for winning too.  If this is all you have to complain about then you are in good shape.  A logo - WOW.

By the way on the new jersey right in the middle in front it says TORS - oh my gosh that has to go.  Start a petition.

off-season football workouts during basketball - if you mean lifting weights - they will be fine with it.  last time i checked lifting weights helps kids become better overall athletes.  unless you are against becoming a better athlete then do not think there will be a problem.  No college or pro basketball players lift - no never.

he is an invited walk-on - which means he gets to go in when the scholarship players report - does not have to wait until normal walk-ons get to go.

I will be the first to admit I have a dog in this hunt, but I can promise you Galveston Ball could not find a better coach and more importantly, person for this job.  Coach Valastro is first class and anybody that knows him would agree.  He will bring discipline, work ethic, intensity, commitment, etc. to the program.  He will make sure kids are treated right and place a priority on helping kids reach their full potential.  Great hire and hold on -  things are gonna get really good on the island. 

All you guys are funny.  The job has not even been posted and Valastro has not even turned in a letter of resignation and you have the replacement in line.  Good stuff.  Lets all just hope they do the right thing.

come on people - for you guys to already be speculating about a replacement when nothing has happened is a crying shame.  Leave the man to his decisions and stop this.  We all know kids and parents read this stuff and it is not fair to them either.  Let things be known or not known on the time frame of the person involved.

First off I am not going to hide behind some screen name - Rusty Cauthern, East Chambers Coach.

Whether you agree or disagree about lifting weights I could care less.  It is an opinion thing and you can find research on both sides of the issue.  It is not the coaches discretion whether they should lift during the season or not - it is the athletic directors decision.  Just like the principal decides on certain policies.  Live with it.  Now, personally I think all athletes should lift year round - lifting weights makes you a better athlete period.  I coach track and want my kids to lift during track season - makes them stronger to finish races and run faster.  I can only imagine that in basketball it helps you jump a little higher and stronger to control a rebound.  I witnessed one of our girls simply rip the ball away from a Hardin girl the other night because she was stronger - I am sure lifting had nothing to do with that.  Ok enough of that.

You can voice your opinion on this site all you want, but when you come on here and start talking trash about a person and making comments about them not caring about a program and not being a good leader you need to stop hiding behind your screen name and man or woman up and go speak your mind to that person or write them a letter and sign it or say who you are on here.  Now if you are a parent - well, I guess you do not teach and coach for a living for a reason.  If you are a teacher/coach making those comments then you need to look to move elsewhere because you are not being professional at all.  Absolutely absurd and immature to speak about someone and hide behind your screen name.  Trust me it will get out who you are and then what are you going to do - I know find another job because your were fired.

I was not the dog in the hunt, but a friend of mine was and what they did was wrong.  I have nothing against who got it - I am sure he will do a good job.  They made this thing a circus when Bickham was hired and fired for that matter and they turned it into a circus again.  When you send an e-mail to a prospective candidate and tell him he is the frontrunner and will be the next hc at Jasper - then live up to it.  So, this will be the last post I make about the process and you guys can say what you want.  Good luck to all of you.

Let me start by saying I have nothing against Coach Morgan - Might be the nicest guy in the world.  

Jasper has turned this process into a 3 ring circus again.  The powers at be told others they were the frontrunner and led them to believe the job would be offered to them and then went another direction twice.  People on the committee even went as far as to tell other people outside the district that other people were getting the job and I am not making this stuff up.

I have lost respect for the Jasper powers at be - The people in charge of this from the get go used people to get what they wanted.  Chris Coleman has always had my utmost respect, but this was handled wrong and he knows it.
