  1. Just a thought here and I understand there might be some controversy around this. I think Crosby's implosion and PNG's ascension should teach us a couple very important lessons. 1) We overvalue the effect of athletes (bo's and joes) on the success of a program and undervalue the effect of coaching. 2) Great coaches will get the enrollment involved and working. At the end of the day the single most important thing for late playoff success is depth and coaching. Yes losing a great QB/RB/WR/LB can end a season early but if you don't have depth at all the "not superstar" positions and if the backups aren't just as willing, able and wanting to play as the starters you cannot have success at the highest levels. I think this is true because of a couple of reasons, Winner win. If you are successful and win others want to be a part of that, from that 6'8 300 lbs kid that's never touched a football to that 5'6 kid who will run through a wall to get his chance. They all are important and they all need to feel like part of the team. If you win then no one cares about being the backup. If you win people will be happy to just be on the team. If you win you can have 65 athletes on Varsity every single year. Even a team without elite athletics' talent can execute plays at a high level if they are well coached. Practice times, culture of work, and accountability set the standards for developing 14 year old's into athletic 17 years old's. That being said great coaches can overcome program deficiencies that previously existed. Crosby and PNG prove this. PNG has no more talent now than it has for the last decade. Crosby has no less talent than it has for the last decade. It's about how that talent is coached, brought through the system, and executes daily. My ramblings.
  2. Aledo Stays D1 by 8 students.
  3. Several highly uninformed and very much not press football people have indicated the 6A cutoff will be 2270 this year... Aledo? 2267. *tinfoil*
  4. Liberty Hill looks to be at the opposite stage as last year. Last year they looked dominant and lost key players throughout the playoffs. This year they didn't look dominant but just beat one of the teams that beat them earlier in the year and seem to be playing their best ball coming into the stadium. I speak from experience this is a very hard team to beat twice. I think LH pulls the upset.
  5. I'm proud that my thread has made it all the way to realignment talk. What a legacy thread we have kept going. I thank BH fans for overreacting to every Crosby post. PAM fans for keeping it alive in the offseason and ofc 14.3 for making people angry on a near weekly manner for nearly 18 months. I'll miss this thread.
  6. Geeze arm chair QBs need to go to sleep. PNG will get this one done. Good team great coaching just need some of the louder fans to act like they've been there before.
  7. 5AD1 mock I think they would pull Crosby over to the PAM district and make that the bigger district.
  8. We are definitely both going to be 5AD1 again so.
  9. That Highschool cannot hold 3800 students so the two High School talk is going to restart again. Even with the planned expansion that building is no where near big enough to hold that population. Ten year projections have been waaaay off before but perhaps this is our last alignment pre-6A we will see. When we get put in that Humble/King/NS district we are going to quickly become irrelevant in football unless there is some fantastic program building.
  10. I'm going to take the #1 Team in 5AD2 for this one... sorry Dogs.
  11. *dribbles* *cries* *dribbles* Well see yall in Basketball season in a 1-3 weeks.
  12. The district described makes sense but there's not universe where you send Deer Park across the Bridge.
  13. What? They are geographically connected districts... unlike GCM.
  14. Looks likely that La Porte and GCM will need to be 6A, if the rest of Baytown goes up to, then we will have a wildly different district next year.
  15. La Porte might end up being the largest school in 5A or the Smallest School in 6A right at the cutoff.
  16. A good Coach cannot make unathletic bad players good. But a bad coach can make their athletes bad football players. A good coach is sufficient for success with nearly any student body. A bad coach will kill talent. 60% Coaching, 35% Kids, 5% other factors. Other factors can be much bigger if there is a major event. Example when Liberty Hill lost their coach they had a different level of commitment to that program and were incredible because of it. They had the other pieces as well but that other factor had huge implications. I do think these can shift.
  17. Like we are getting the 0-8 broadcaster.
  18. So Dr. Patterson is an amazing person no question about it. Having worked with her as a teacher of her child she was always really positively involved. From what my contacts (former colleagues) in the building can tell me that nearly all of her mistakes that are being viewed are about athletics. Every school in the entire district has been measurably better under her leadership. She has taken several schools that had rating issues such as the middle school and Barrett Primary and pushed them into well rated academic schools. The education in Crosby has literally never been better than it is today. Within a school district with 50% free and reduced lunches you have a thriving academic environment. Football coach hire was a failure under her leadership and those ultimately fall to the Supers feet in these sort of districts. The truth is firing the coach and hiring a new one is much more palatable then firing a Super, especially one with a lot of community support and who has measurable achievements. Not privy on the baseball coach situation but I'll take your word on it. Four day work week is in year one that'd be like measuring success for your child at the two week mark and saying your kids an A student. 85 Million Bond is about growth, and getting buildings up and running before every building is beyond capacity. It won't be the last bond because the area is exploding with growth. I wouldn't be surprised if the two high school talk starts again. Too many people forget what a Superintendents job is. It has nothing to do with the football team or baseball team and if that's all your going to look at with a district then you need to get your priorities straightened out. As someone who has three nieces and nephews in the district I could care less if the entire athletics program imploded if it meant my family gets a better education. I'm about as hard core a Crosby football fan as there is but priorities are waaaaay off on this post.
  19. Final score is 100% determined by PAM. Yall like to play down to people.
  20. it's now Willis' son.
  21. That's simply not true. There is plenty of talent on this team, but talent minus coaching = this result. There are three D1 players on this team, just because the other kids aren't D1 doesn't mean they wouldn't have played. The Tight End is really good he's put in bad spots having to catch timing routes over the middle and getting flatlined. The receiving core has not been very good. And we've had plenty of not very good O-lines through the years.
  22. Honestly doesn't matter as long as this is the coaching staff. Pretty sure they won't be able to let the Coaches son run the offense without the kid getting some crazy flack right now.
  23. We all can name them, let them have their time Crosby is down until we drop this coach off but hey our area consistently produces very good football players we will rebuild.
  24. Incredibly impressive this PNG defense is nasty.
  25. Unironically this isn't the worst team Crosby has had, but it's by far the worst coached team we've had in what two decades? Like when I actively want Flannigan back that's all you really need to know.
