  1. If it helps to soothe your worries for next year:

Newton has done this very thing for decades and have been more than able to keep momentum from year to year.  Those young guys are getting plenty of experience (and arguably more valuable experience) practicing with and against the starters during the week.  Scoring a couple touchdowns against an overmatched opponent is not going to really help thier development.  It does help to get out there under the lights and in front of a crowd against unfamliar players.  Which is EXACTLY the chance Coach A and staff gave the up and coming guys.  Played it EXACTLY right in my opinion.

Truth be told, when you are against a team that is way overmatched you also have to guard against developing bad habits (poor technique etc..) in those games.  Injury risks are also a consideration.

In what manner is 20-4A "crashing"?

Crash, Crunch, Smash, Bang, Boom, Squill, Squeek, and getting thumped by 19-4A in playoffs.  Shall I go on?   ;D

Well you still have not actually made a point beyond an indirect statement that seems to show unfounded homer confidence in district 19-4A.

Dayton likely rolls in Bi-district but the other 3 will probably bow out in round one.  As an nuetral observer of these two districts I'd say 20-4A looks like the stronger by nearly any objective criteria.  19-4A has, by my estimate 1 legit contender (Dayton) where 20-4A has two (Beaumont Central and Livingston) with a possible third I am not yet sold on (LCM).

    In 5 head-to-head games this year 204A holds a 4-1 edge on 194A.

In closing, since this all really appears to be nothing more than an attempt to distract from the epic crow feast by trying to bait the mid-county fans into a discussion in which you could try to hop on the Dayton coattails.

Therefore, I leave you with this thought:  The hill is NOT for real.
  3. I'll ask the same question I do every time this question comes up.

What do you define as "best"?

The team that would be all others in theoritical head to head play?
The team with the best/most dominant season from a stats POV?
The team that had the most eventual D1/NFL players?

Are you talking about a single season or multiple?

Only in the state of Texas or Nationally?

Depending which definition you use, the answer will vary wildly even from the most objective poster.

The conversation is much more interesting, in my opinion, if you tighten up the parameters of the discussion.
  4. I think people are reading way too much into Newton's loss to Kirbyville.

Newton is customarily rough at the start of the season.
I also think people look at the score and assume it means Newton is not that good.  The truth is Kirbyville is likely much better than you think.

This year's Kirbyville squad may well be as good as the K'ville peeps thought they were the past few.  (And that comment is not meant to be disparaging in any way.)
