Thanks for answering.   I thought it would be higher, and not that allowing 23.3 ppg is good, but thought it'd be higher.

You figure the better teams are much higher than that.  Hard to always outscore teams.

I know high school offenses have evolved greatly in 15+ years, but that 99 team wasn't just Dustin Long, the Coburn's and Worsham.  They played great defense back then as well.

That 99 PNG defense allowed around 12 ppg. The 98 defense was actually a little better statistically allowing around 10 ppg I believe.

I don't know a ton on PNG's history but if he keeps at that pace he will eclipse even Dustin Long's accomplishments at PNG. In my opinion if you guys stack that roster there will be a state championship to come. The real question is "is the talent there?" To make the run. That kid has a bright future ahead of him. He is very gifted. All the glory goes to the man up above that blessed that young man with the gift of being a great athlete. Keep your head up sir! Stay prayed up your destined for greatness!! Awesome highlights didn't know all this was taking place would've made sure to be in attendance.

No offense to Roschon, but it takes a team to get to a state championship. He may eclipse Long's stats, but in my opinion you're comparing apples to oranges. It was a very different game and the offenses were completely different back then. If I remember correctly, PNG's offense in 99 was balanced; I think the passing yards were within a hundred yards of the rushing game. The future looks very bright, however, with all the talent we have coming back, it's an exciting time to be an Indian!

So very similar to this years backups giving up points late in several games?

It seems to me that our starters stay in the game a little longer than they should. I think Faircloth just want to make sure that the game stays well in hand before pulling the starters, whereas Burnett may have been a little less cautious.

Well maybe I can shed a lil light on what I see, our secondary getting scorched by the deep ball just about everytime the ball is thrown. I just don't understand how we can have 3 or 4 guys around the ball and not make a play. Yes Angleton scorched us and PAM scorched us  with the run. But with the PAM game they did play the best DEFENSE I have seen in a long time in the First Half bar none, second half was a different story Hines ate us up! I know these are 16 17 and 18 year olds but I just call it like I see it. It doesn't have nothing to do with Fairclothe im not hating on him, he is the coach not me, but he is offense first defense second. I have my opinion and you have yours I don't care If you don't like my opinion don't read it! Do have to agree though they have accomplished something special this year and I am proud of them for sure but in my eyes offense don't win Championships DEFENSE does! You go back to the 99-00 team and look at their defense, we had ballers at every position! Linebackers that were small in size but played like giants! Secondary was everywhere, Baxter being my favorite! Golke maybe the poster child for making one of the most vicious hits on that poor lil LaMarque wide receiver was one the hits you never forget. I know this defense bends and does break from time to time  but its like they just move on and forget about it and find a way to  get it done. They did have some ints against Barbers Hill but after the qb settled down he lit us up. But with that being said they made the play when it counted and pulled it off ! Sorry brother I don't have a fandom card so im not turning nothing in bro. I just call it like I see it.

That 99 LaMarque game was one of the hardest hitting games I've ever been a part of. We played lights out and were laying the wood with reckless abandon! Good times...

Looking back at the 99 PNG team, they averaged right at (31) points a game and gave up right at (16) a game.

This years team has averaged about (38) points a game and gave up right at (19) points a game.

Those points given up by the 99 defense are very skewed. Burnett would put in the backups as soon as we were up by 3 TDs.  A lot of kids got to play that year, which is great. I remember playing just a few series in the second half of several games because the game was well in hand by the 3rd quarter.

    Lmao!

Funny funny. It's all good, I can take some  good ribbing as well as the next guy.

On another note, do y'all think that Charlie has saved his job with the win over Baylor? I was actually rooting for you guys (can't believe I'm admitting that); I  can't stand Baylor.

He's actually correct.  Most aggie fans are alumni or have some close affiliation.  I know that to be true because most everyone else thinks they are a bunch of goofballs...

Call it what you want man, but it is something special to be a part of. I don't know if it's the traditions or the community or what, but it reminds me of the PNG area as well, and it's what drew me to Aggieland. So I'll take the goofball comment any day.

Most of the fans I meet do not tell me what university they graduated from and I do not ask. Support who you want, when you want.

I do know that most aggys are quick to let you know they are aggys. Usually it goes without saying.

This part is true, all you have to do is look for the ring!

    You're not serious are you?

Can you post a link to this information?

No link, just my opinion. I guess the majority of Aggie fans I come across have graduated from A&M or have an affiliation to it in some way.

Degree? I am sorry, but you were a little vague on details.

    What kind and when?

My love for the Texas Longhorns does not change with the number of wins.

Wins are nice, but they do not fuel my fanaticism.

I have a diploma from The University of Texas, BSME, 1981.

Do you have a college diploma from Texas A&M?

btw newbie refers to your number of posts, not join forum join date. I guess the term should have been T-shirt poster!

    Hookem

Yes, as a matter of fact I do have a degree from Texas A&M.

I'm convinced they are obsessed with the tshirt fan thing because so many of them couldn't get in to The University of Texas and had to settle for Tamu.  Look for it to get even worse now that they are trying to become the Arizona State of the south; you know, to help pay for stadium expansions and ill-advised coaching extensions....

Man, I couldn't care less about tu. I only made the T-shirt comment because the majority of horn fans come out of the woodwork when the horns are actually good, but disappear when they have down years. The majority of Aggie fans are alumni or have some close affiliation to the school.

Newbie? I may not post often, but I've been around a while. It's easy to be an Internet tough guy, huh? You can't tell me you don't agree that the horns talent level has been no where near the Aggies since we left for the SEC. Sorry you horns got all butt-hurt, but it was the best decision ever for the Ags. You T-shirt fans are funny.

Ags have zero chance.  I will give you 2 to 1 for all you can eat.  Your schedule is puke and you got hammered by the only good team you played.  It's over.   Just like the last 77 years...

Schedule is puke? I'm pretty sure a lot of the teams we beat this year would've easily dismantled the horns. Do a little research and see who has the higher strength of schedule.
