  1. no not closer problems...it was the bat problems...most the time it was they bats didnt come alive until late in the game..or they would be awake in the 1st and 7th innings and that is it...very very strange...but the games that they played the whole game was against jasper the 1st game and silsbee the secone game...the loss to kirbyville was jsut a horrible display of hitting...Hubbard did a great job on the hill just as he did against Jasper in the 1 run loss in the 8th (where he pitched all 8 innings) and the bats just couldnt come through..he also got intinially walked in the 6th against Kirbyville with a runner on..good coaching move by the K-ville coach...but what a heartbreaker of a season...at least all ended well with a win to coldspring for the seniors

  2. i am gonna go with Hubbard from Shepherd:

Football- So,New Comer of Year, Jr, !st Team All-Dist., Sr, 1st Team All-Dist....Offensive Player of Year for Shepherd Jr. and Sr. year

    Basketball- Sr. 2nd Team All-Dist.

Baseball- So. Honarable Mention, Jr, 2nd Team All-Dist., Sr, 1st Team All-dist. infielder...Team MVP Sr year

Golf- Regional Qualifier Freshman and Jr. Year

he also played tennis and ran track...total all around athlete...just because he is from Shepherd doesnt mean he is talented...ask teams in the jasper and silbee dist.

  3. Shepherd pulls out a close one...always a tough game between the 2 teams no matter what their records are...Shepherd just couldnt put the bat on the ball hard enough..Coldspring scored in the 1st innning on a past ball and not again till the seventh when they went up 2-1...Shepherd didnt score until the 6th inning...Mikie Watson got on base with an error by the 2nd baseman then Zach Hubbard hits a shot between the short stop and the 3rd baseman..puttin runners on 1st and 2nd...then Jacob Greenhouse hits a double into the right field gap and scores 1 runner and Hubbard was called out on a close play at home trying to take the lead...Going into the 7th...score is tied at 1...Coldspring scores a run on a high bouncing ball over Hubbard with the infield in the grass trying to keep the run from scoring...Ralph Swan, who pitched the whole game, struck out 1 and then a guy was thrown at at 3rd for the last out of the Trojans at bat...Shepherd then gets 2 hits to put runners on base...Ralph Swan scores on a fly ball to right field and Alex Meng is thrown out at home trying to win for the 1st out...Runner on 3rd and Hayden Crowder lays down a suicide sqeeze bunt and Sam Webb, pinch runner for Hopkins, scores the winning run on the sqeeze...great execution by the Pirates under pressure to win the game!

  4. i agree with D-ray....i seriously think that jasper will beat silsbee..and nobody reapeat..NOBODY...will beat jasper in their gym...there is just something about visiting teams not playing well at all...and the dawgs shot about 300% i seriously think they didnt miss but 10 shots total...best team i have seen so far...keep your head up pirates you have a huge game friday against your rival AT HOME!!

  5. this will be a great matchup and a pretty good look at what the dist. may turn out in the playoffs...the pirates are on the up and coming and seem to get better every game..they like hubtx posted have 3 good shooters from outside and if they are hot you cant stop them...you better hope ur offense is answering back cuz if not it is a constant catch up game for u...the dawgs are very athletic and very quick shepherd will have to keep them out of their head with the press but they handled silsbee's press good but against silsbee they were off shooting the ball...i have to go with shepherd on this one by 5!
