  1. Tidwell would do well..... He did an amazing job at TCU and is a tireless worker!
  2. This is the type of subject that shows exactly what is wrong with the world today! BLAME SOMEONE ELSE! I would love it if umpires got on here and bashed kids for missing easy pop flys, not laying bunts down, missing signals, etc. That is what loses games.... not umps.
  3. Treece had 15 K's, and looked like a man playing with boys. (No offense to Orangefield, but he had it working tonight!) Taylor Monse had a two run homerun in the first.
  4. The games (JV and Varsity) will now be at HJ instead of Jasper.
  5. I heard th HJ fire baller Marc Garison was supposed to pitch today against Jasper, but his coach is benching him for not having a pen in class. What an irresponsible kid. I hope he gets his act together.
  6. Marc, The only cats you blew out of the water.,,,,,,,,,,,were the ones the biology class disected!
  7. it was 20-3. hj pitched 3 guys who have never stepped foot on the pitchers mound.
  8. SATURDAY'S FINAL RESULTS NEDERLAND SOPH wins consolation bracket over Splendora BRIDGE CITY WINS 3rd place game OVER KIRBYVILLE JV KELLY JV wins championship game over Hardin - Jefferson JV Good tournament, thanks to all of the workers who made it a success! GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS THE REST OF THE SEASON!
  9. um.... ok...... Have fun mowing your yard and doing chores today. We will be busy winning a state championship.
  10. Two reasons why it won't work. First, Money. Those things cost money. (ANd you have to pay another worker to work it.) Second, Can you imagine how many times a game it will be reset incorrectly. Imagine being at an Ozen vs. Memorial game and not resetting the shot clock on time. DRAMA CITY! The spread or stall is part of the game..... just as taking a knee in football or intentionally walking someone in baseball is.
  11. SATURDAY 9am CONSOLATION GAME Nederland vs splendora 11 am - THRID PLACE GAME Bridge City vs Kirbyville 1 pm CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Hardin-Jefferson vs Kelly TODAY HJ beat splendora 6-2 Nederland beat Jasper (can't remember exact score) HJ beat Kirbyville 12-8 Kelly beat Bridge City 16-0
  12. Sorry, I was at the field all day.... Game 1. Bridge City vs. Jasper Jasper was up early, but Bridge City came from behind and won 8-7 Game 2. Kelly vs. Nederland Kelly wins 4-3 in 7 innings. Kelly put the ball in play really well. Game 3 Kirbyville vs. Splendora Kirbyville was up 11-4 going into the last inning. Splendora scored 5 in the last at bat. Kirbyville wins 11-9. FRIDAYS GAMES HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs SPLENDORA - 9:00 JASPER vs NEDERLAND - 11:00 HARDIN-JEFFERSON / SPLENDORA (WINNER) vs. KIRBY VILLE - 1:00 KELLY vs. BRIDGE CITY - 4:00 pm I would post live updates, but I can't get internet access at the field.
  13. Log off the computer and learn something....... please....
  14. Here are my thoughts (in no particular order) Sutherland (HJ)- Good team, but gets alot out of his "role" players Simon (Westbrook) - Did a good job in a year that not much was expexted. Knowles (Kelly) - Lost Brown, and has put up a 20+ win season yet again, playing some pretty good teams. Fuller (WH) - Hard to argue about the success they are having. McCarter (WOS) - Has had to deal with more drama in one year than most coaches do in a career... and still will make a good run in the playoffs
  15. Ok... here goes.... I have coached at the high school varsity level for girls and boys and also at the junior high level.... here is my take. First, Girls foul alot! Speed is a big factor as far as being able to move as a defender. Most high school girls players lack this speed, so there is always alot more contact than in the boys game. Second, girls are aggressive. (watch two girls fight over a jump ball if you don't know what I'm talking about... They usually end with one being tossed to the floor) Third, Most girls aren't strong enough to take contact without it affecting their balance, therefore they often end up layed out on the floor. Finally, young (or inexperienced) refs usually fall into a trap of missing a call, and then missing another call to make up for the first missed call. This is a dangerous thing to do as games can spiral out of control quickly! As a coach, all I could do was stress proper defense and footwork! When games get rough, there are times when I try to get a technical foul... not to show up an official..(It is a tough job... try it sometime if you think it is easy) but rather to draw their attention to the rough play. Usually this slowed things down a bit.... but sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. If an official called every foul in some games they would end up with both teams fouling out before half time! -Mike
  16. I have been pretty close to J'Covan and have gotten to knoe Ryan this year. I don't know Thomas, but have seen him play... Talent wise, I would say J'Covan... but if I were building a team, I would take Donahoe. Attitude and composure go HAND in HAND with talent. I
  17. Lufkin SHSU Baylor GREAT FIELDS! The neatest place I have ever played has to be in Victoria. It was an OLD OLD OLD minor league park, that was refurbished forthe high schools to use.
  18. Not all Little Dribbler coaches are poision..... Todd Sutherland has done a great job with the Hardin-Jefferson Little dribblers....
  19. Any word on how the game went..... I heard Kelly won????
  20. I went...... Very good game between the area's best two teams..... Ozen seemed to control the game for most of the way. Memorial played aggressive the whole game and game away with some big stops down the stretch. Both teams seem to be a little rusty....(Players haven't really found what their roles are) Brown was a machine and did his usual thing.... Thre role players PA out played the role players from Ozen. Richards from Ozen is the real deal.... He made some great plays, just didn't seem to get as many touches as he should.
  21. This should be a good one.... Kelly lost earlier in the year, but had 5 or 6 starters out.... This St. Pius team beat Vidor and WHIIPPED Bay City 40-0! The game is for the district championship and I'm sure Long will have them ready to go.... GOOD LUCK KELLY..... (I hope they start the "They don't want it..." chant again!.... We remember how that one ended up!) -Coacg Fogo
  22. hj 9th- 33 jasper 9th- 7 that score may be wrong but hj freshmen dominated..... hj jv - 18 hardin jv-12 hj had an 8 and 1/2 minute drive to win the game starting with 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter. Two very depleted teams with most guys going both ways. Great game and a greater effort by both teams!
  23. Great Article! Torry is a GREAT kid! I hope he continues to do great things and wish him well in the future!
