  1. Take this for what it’s worth to you:  committing early is not good in my opinion strictly because at 12-15, you may be fully developed and the field will catch up with you.  You also might not know what Juco kids signs to fill a spot the year before you sign or another high school kid blossoms a year before you can legally sign.  I know a lot of college head coaches and they have the final say, not the recruiter at the showcase tournaments.  Also, don’t just look D-1 because the numbers are pretty right when you 1 out of 11 might play in college and probably 2 per year in golden triangle will play D-1 on yearly average.  If you wanna play the game and not just be on a team, be honest with yourself and go where you can play everyday.  I watch a lot of juco and D-2 games and it’s good baseball and both have scholarships to offer.

I assume it is the way it used to be in that 1. the coaches favorite 2, how hard the coach pressures Danny and the rest 3. Do they personally know them.

Bad thing about sports writers is most, not all, don't have a clue about the game and never played it

Bob West and Tom Halliburton excluded Maybe Shapiro too I don't know him

I'm not sure what "the way it used to be" means.  I grew up here and I didn't make this team in '89! But the news reporters where at a lot of my games, there was just a lot of talent to pick 11 players from.  I know for a fact some of these players definitely were not not the coaches favorites!

  3. It is true, USSSA walked in and tried to obtain some weekend dates, but there are none open, Nations, and softball has the bulk, I got the remaining weekends! There is no USSSA tourney, softball is definately playing nov 14-15, Joey just showed up at FP a few weeks ago to try to get some weekends, it was a mistake obviously for them to post the USSSA, i got the email to for all of my teams. They jumped the gun, Darren is actually in League City that weekend running USSSA at BLD.

  4. I'm looking for all positions to fill 5 spots on my TPX 11U team for the fall and spring season, in the fall we will play DH every other sunday to build a another Championship caliber team in the spring. If interested, please come to tryouts or call me personally.

    Thanks,

  5. It definately happens alot in Select! It should never happen if its a professional coach that is there for the kids, if for the money, then yes winning at all cost at lower levels gets you business! Moving up is great for the kids, it will weed out the kids with less talent and workhabits, for instance you can win at low levels of play by not accomplishing anything in practice or not even practicing, but at the next level, you can't! The move makes the competitive kids work harder, that should be the goal, if you think select ball will get your kids better, then get them in a program that will teach them all phases of the game!
