Wow!
He also cooked links and served drinks at halftime.
Thats right, he should have made first team QB ALSO. Stop crying about the picks it is what it is. Yes a lot of kids didnt make it that should have, but there is no reason to talk about other kids that have worked hard and deserve it. Trevon is one of the most dedicated kids to play sports in SETX. Example he has a full ride to play baseball at TCU and chose to dedicate himself to football and his team. He could have easily got injured. Like I said don't take it out on the kids that have numerous talents. And yes he could serve links and drinks at halftime thats what kind of kid he is. Enough Said! Good lord. I was complimenting the kid for being a jack of all trades. If you tried reading the thread you would see that. I am going to go out on a limb and say that trevin has more family on this board than any other player from SETX. ;D
-

He motioned into the backfield a lot from the wr spot. He also was the "Wild DOG" guy. Even though he is lined up at QB he is a listed wr. He had 438 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns if you add that to his Receiving you get 626 yards and 16 touchdowns. That is with missing the Vidor game. In my opinion if I was coaching against the two players I would be more worried about Sonnier wherever he lined up. In district only Nelson-545 yards 5 touchdowns Sonnier-626 total yards 16 touchdowns
That is why he made 1st team UTILITY. He lined up at QB/WR/RB.
AKIFAN: The horse is long since dead...stop beating it.
Just responding to a direct post to me. I am not offering any new arguement on the subject.
That may have been a bit harsh. I'm on the other half of Sonnier's family and I appreciate the nice things you have said about him. I am also very sympathetic to your cause. I was surprised to see that Trev had taken a WR and the Utility spot. If the roles were reversed we (the Sonniers and Kirchmers) would be crying foul and blowing up the site too. I assume you have a relationship with the Nelson kid and I can understand the disappointment and the strong desire to make even a futile attempt to right a wrong you believe has been done to him. If anything, we are sometimes too aggressive in taking up Trev's cause. The truth is, we were concerned that Trev would be left off the list because he was used in so many different offensive roles that he did not fit well into any one category. (I should have known there was a spot for a utility player, but I didn't). I sorry Nelson was left off the list, he is obviously a very good player.
No problem. I actually do not know him personally (Nelson). I know I look like a homer defending a PN-G kid but I also feel others were slighted as well. I was only trying to make sense of the selections and justify why I felt that way. I hate to see any kid from any team work their tail off and not be rewarded for it. Plus I like arguing and padding my post count. ;) -
Exactly. The young man made 1st team WR offense / 1st team Utility offense / and 1st team safety Defense. Seems like a district MVP. Doty was offensive MVP. -

Just was to clarify how the picks are made and what can be used. I have no answer as to why Nelson did not make 1st team.st
my guess would be that Nelson only had two big games in district, one against nederland and the other against lumberton, all of the rest were just mediocre. He definitely got the vote from nederland, but other recievers had bigger games againnst lumberton therefore they did not vote for him. And one vote will not get you on the first team.
So they only vote for one person at each position but 6 of the 8 centers made all-district? It still does not explain how a kid with 12 district catches and one TD makes it when his best game was 4 catches and 1 TD and he never had another TD or more than 2 catches in a district game all year. I am done with it. It is flawed and it is obvious.
this is true, I do agree with you. But, that is my only guess as to why this happened.
Akifan, what is your problem. We all see you don't think Sonnier deserved receiver over Nelson so let it go. Nelson should be there but my goodness put the other kids stats up too to compare. You obviously have a problem with Sonnier all together no matter what you've said previously.
I have no problem with your son. I think he is a great player and deserved district MVP. I have said that more than once in this thread. I feel he was put up by coach Neumann for as many positions as possible to be voted on and made WR by name only which in turn short changed a more deserving player. Again. Trevin deserves everything he gets as he always left it all on the field and was the difference maker for Nederland. I just think when you have 12 catches and 1 TD over 7 games your coach and other coaches should recognize that and do what is right. -
well all the coaches from the district voted on Crouch as coy, so I guess all the coaches in the district( including your teams coach) are all wrong ??? The media does not have an all-district team, only their publication team for the area (All Orange Leader Team, All BE team, ect. ect.) Also, only district games and the stats compiled in those games are used for these picks. No non district or playoff stats are used.
AAW, according to Coach Faircloth (tonight) NO STATS were considered in the selections. It was up to the individual coaches to do research (if they felt like it). He said that some coaches even submitted receivers with TEN CATCHES! Now, what coach, with a clear conscious could possibly submit a receiver that caught 1 pass per game??? And the selection of Crouch as COTY, confirms just how asinine this whole process is.
Let me clarify myself. ONLY district games and those stats COULD be used to help determine the all district picks. Non district and playoff games and the stats compiled in those games do not count and cannot be used in determining all district picks. There, is that better? ;D
No it is not better......... District Stats Only Trevin Sonnier : 12 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD. Jayce Nelson : 38 catches for 545 yards and 6 TD. -

I also think once you've been chosen to a spot that should be it and consider other players for the other spots. Sonnier from Nederland was easily the MVP of the district and not 1st team WR, that's meant as a compliment to Trevin not a gripe, has was the most valuable player in the district, Gonzales should have been 1st team QB. As for Nelson from PNG, the stats don't lie, he should have been 1st team, I just don't think we need 5 WR's on 1st team, 2 or 3 at the most, I think it takes away from what the better players did when you water it down this much, might as well give out participation ribbons like the elementary track meets do. Coach of the year was debatable, Coach Crouch was deserving as where 2 or 3 others, I think it shows the respect the other coaches have for Coach Crouch that he was chosen, even though he didn't make the playoffs he did an outstanding job. But when a kid makes first team WR while having 12 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD over seven district games you know it is a bogus choice and made on reputation alone.
yeah I completely agree, but here's the deal. Coaches from each team nominate as many players as the want for their team for each position. Some coaches nominated the ones that they thought were deserving from their team, bit some coaches just nominated almost all the kids from their team. So with that being said, if a kid had only two good games the whole district race....even if the others he didn't do anything. Then he would get two votes to be on first team, and sometimes that's all you need. So stats account for nothing, its all about how he did against two or so teams. Also, kids that were tied for votes on first team were not separated into first and second team. They were all just put on first team resulting in the unusual amount of kids on the teams. I hope I answered some of your questions.
Yes you did. It is a popularity contest and has no merit on game performance. The kids give 110% throughout the year and some coaches give 10% when it comes to rewarding them for their achievements. Got it. The coaches should be ashamed. -
Maybe so. The only changes I would make to the list would be putting Sonnier as MVP. Knocking the Ozen QB to 2nd team and replacing him with Gonzales and placing nelson at 1st team WR while removing sonnier due to the MVP. I would also put Neumann as Coach of the year. Considering some saying that our district was 'down' this year, I will put these boys against any other all district team and we would win. Special thanks to my District Champion Jag players representing. Now, the whole Sonnier kid from Nederland debacle? NO COMMENT...
You just did. :D What debacle?
good question baddog!!!
Probably the fact he made 1st offense at two positions when they never do that. As I explained earlier once you make a spot (MVP, First team WR, etc.) you do not earn another slot. Making offense and defense is great. But making 1st team WR and 1st team Utility on offense was a mistake. Not that he did not earn it. Just not how the teams are picked. -

That is a horrible list then. J. Nelson not being first team is about the biggest goof I have seen on one of these lists. Here are some final stats... T. Sonnier 20 188 1 B. Salenga 28 444 4 J. Nelson 74 1123 12 it is not even close. Take away the two extra games and Nelson still had more catches, yards, and TD's than those two combined. And he is a second teamer?
Not trying to keep this going, but the stats on Sonnier are wrong from the top of my head. And why only compare Nelson to the two Nederland boys. Did the rest on the list have over 1000 yards too?
No. Nelson was the only one. I just like picking on kids from Nederland. ;) My only problem with the list is Nelson not making first team. The rest seems fair to me. -
Enjun07, I can assure you Trevin's family has NO connections and is by far 'buddy buddy' with any coaches that voted. I'm sorry that Nelson didn't make 1st team. With those stats that is sad, bit don't drag 2 of the boys who did down because of it. They were 2 of our hardest playing players with more heart than I've seen in most teams as a whole. Congrats to Trev and Brent on a great job this year!
I am sure he was not singling Sonnier's family out but more of Coach Faircloth has only been around a couple of years kind of deal. Not saying I agree. It could have just been an oversight. Who knows. -
To all the PN-G fans whining about LC-M's Coach Crouch winning Coach of the Year instead of their coach, shut up. He is an amazing coach, and a great leader. Look at what he's done in two years to a program that was CRAP two years ago. Hat's off to him, I'm glad he won it. And if you disagree, you don't know much about football.
You are right. We are all idiots. His team choked and missed the playoffs after being in the driver seat most of the year. Congrats. And just for the record Coach Crouch has done a very good job at LC-M but I am not sure that means he did the best coaching job THIS year. Honestly I feel Neumann did. His team battled through multiple injuries to key players, a player revolt, and starting a ton of underclassmen on defense to get his team into the playoffs. -

It all starts up front. This is were PNG will have the biggest challenge in replacing. If you can believe it PNG may actually big bigger up front on offense with Nicotre (6'2 260) Reasons (6'4" 270) Stasinos (6'5" 250), not sure who will fill in the other two spots, but those three are big. The losses will be tuff because they were key leaders like Lunceford and Langois on the OL and Easley, Thompson and Schexneider on D. And anytime you have to replace a record setting QB like Doty, it's tough! Returning players *2010 Starters: 8 (3 Offense - 5 Defense) ** 2010 Significant PT: 6 (3 Offense - 3 Defense) WR *Nelson - WR **Lacour - OT *Nicotre - OG Reasons - C ?? - OG ?? - OT **Stasinos - HB **Hanks - WR ?? QB Miller - RB *Bertrand CB **Hollier - DE *Davis - DT ?? - DE **Grantham - CB ?? OLB *Louviere - MLB ?? - S/LB *Peveto - OLB **Segler S *Sperl - S *Romero
On the D side, you have Mangini (soph this year) big kid, fast. He played DE on JV. Had a lot of sacks. He practiced with varsity. The DT, there are a couple of strong big kids on the JV who were very good at DT who will fit in very well. I see our D rotating alot of players in on the D line next year. With the size coming up they may adjust the D line to a 4 man line. Also we had a freshman on varsity who played in the secondary. Very fast. I also heard there may be some transfers moving into PNG district come Jan 11. One a big O lineman from Vidor. Another from our neighbors. So hard to say, but I see PNG with a more stout D next year with alot more speed.
Mangini is a big kid. I know him very well. Very nice kid. I hope he can flip the switch on the field. I did not see him play but speak to him pretty often. I see us running the ball more next year with Miller. He is bigger than Doty and has a strong arm I am just not sure about his accuracy and instincts.
