1. West Sabine has moved their scrimmage today to San Augustine at 5. Hopefully the contracts will complete the repairs needed to turn this new facility over to the team in the very near future. Playing a whole season on the road got real old last year.
2. Dang 2 at the buzzer in SA means that the place was rocking!!! I bet that a ruckus was going on after that!!! Yes the Nacogdoches rag of a paper is not worth $70 dollars a year to get updates on. I'll just wait on someone to post here!!! BucketSitR
3. Answered my own question..Good Luck to Hemphill and Coach Stanley. Copied from Smoaky: Ken Stanley, who has been the Quarterbacks and Special Teams Coordinator at Atascocita High School in Humble, has been named the AD/Football Coach at Hemphill High School. Stanley, replaced Ken Hall, who was 25-37 in six-years at Hemphill. David Smoak
4. Going to have to shine up my Bucket for a seat on the Front Row!!! BucketSitR
5. Looks to be some great matchups coming in this district this year. Each team has several kids that can play.  Good Luck to all. And WS finally has a new field...No more practicing on the football field and all away games...YaaHoooo!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to a great season. Go Tigers. BucketSitR
6. I will have to give the Hemphill team props for this year. They have a great group of baseball savy kids coming in this year that will make some noise. The future looks bright here. Good Luck to the Hornets..  and enjoy your new field... BucketSitR
7. The 2/11 game against Broaddus will be the final district game at home for the Tigers. The West Sabine community will be dedicating the NEW GYM floor for the Ledgendary Coach Jack Whitton. They are asking all of the former athletes of WSISD come for this great occasion. They are hoping to have everything in place for their first game in the new school this Friday night against Zavalla. The new school is real nice and a great addition to the winning tradition of the West Sabine ISD and the community. Come by if you get a chance. BucketSitR
8. Saw this on another forum yesterday and it made it interesting to watch a game after a refresher of the basic Rules of the Game.. I found these 6 'rule misunderstandings' in a 2008 copy of the UIL State Basketball Tournament program. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey Ref" ... that's 'over the back' There is no such thing as an "over the back" foul in basketball. A player may legally reach all the way over the top of another player and get a rebound. A foul only occurs when the player pushes or holds the player he is reaching over in order to gain advantage. ... call 3-seconds in the lane When a shot goes up, the three-second count ends. It does not begin again until a player secures possession of the ball. During rebounding action, there cannot be a three-second violation. ...she's 'reaching' There is also no such thing as a "reaching" foul. Defensive players may try to grab or steal the ball. A player who reaches around an opponent to try to get at the ball is performing a legal act, even if there is contact, as long as they do not push or hold their opponent. ...he's 'walking' Walking, slang for traveling, can only be called when a player has control of the ball. If a player receives a pass and fumbles the ball while moving down the court, no violation has occurred. Also, a player with the ball on the ground only travels if he or she moves to gain an advantage or tries to stand up. ...that's a 'carry' Carrying or palming is really called double-dribble. A violation only occurs when the ball comes to a complete stop in the dribbler's hand. As long as the ball does not rest in the dribblers hand, no violation has occurred. Similarly, a high dribble is not a violation. ...this isn't football Fans must realize that basketball IS a contact sport. While rough play is not part of basketball, physical contact is. Two players going for a loose ball might collide with each other, or a defensive player might hit a screen like a brick wall. In these cases, it might look bad, but no foul has occurred! --------------------------------------------------------------- The 'over the back' and 'reaching' descriptions are completely unike what I see called at games. The 'carry' description is also more lenient than I see. What am I missing?
9. There is one district North of I20 that limits its subvarsity to only one game per week, I think it is only on Fridays.. Heard several reasons, from home late to reduction in funds for travel etc... Still fans have problems with this, playing time for younger players,etc... " I can't get off in time for a game starting before 5 to see my future NBA All-Star preform for the masses!!!" ;D Goes both ways, BucketSItR
10. Thought i would pass this on.  Great Guy [Hidden Content]
11. Don't know what you are talking about.   The boys that had moved to Pineland from Brookeland, were not able to play last year(their Senior Year) because the new coach at the time from Brookeland did not sign for them. Thus they didn't play varsity sports last year, their senior year. This years team all went to school last year in Pineland, most all their lives. Don't think that the coach from Pineland will be buying the Brookeland coach anything other than a ticket to watch them break the scoreboard against the Wildcats next Tuesday night!!  Welcome to our district!! 12. Congrats top the Zavalla coach. Watched him grow up. He will have a fine career in coaching.
13. The SPY must have been spying! ;) Congrats to Kountz, You kept the pressure up and shot lights out. Also great showing by the 2 freshman from WS BucketSitR
14. Yes it was a great game. And yes laneville is scary good as you say. The game was a track meet and a circus ring with alot of high fliying action tonight. The 14-0 run at the end by Kountz put it away. Congrats to the Lions. Laneville has been a powerhouse for a long time. Just because they are a div 2 1A doesn't mean that they can't play high caliber ball. I remember(the good ole' days!!) when a little 1A team from Brookeland came to the YMBL and kicked some "Big School Butts". Then went to the Whataburger and did the same on the way to a win in Austin. BucketSitR

16. Making a trip down next week and wondered if i need to also bring my gun with me. Are the Geese holding on the saltgrass around the High Island area yet. I know that sometimes they don't start stacking in until a little later in the year. Am planning on "feeling the pull" from a few reds. Best stress reliever that i know of!!! BucketSitR
17. Getting closer, can't wait! Look for Kountz to win this Tourney but should be some good games along the way. BucketSitR
