  1. I can see that SFA85 is blinded by his own dark shadow again. Ozen by 17???? Give me a break man.

From what I hear' date=' Ozen can not stop the run. If they can not stop the run, then they will have to deal with PNG's 6'2" 215lb Hemmings for about 5 minutes per drive, who in my opinion, is the best running back PNG has had since Ron McGill back in 89 or 90.

As for PNG, they can stop the run....Ozen will not beat them trying to do that. They have got to spread PNG out in man to man and hope the qb can get the rushing they need. That would be tough though, cause from what I have seen, PNG's defense is the quickest its been in a while.

If Ozen throws the ball anywhat sloppy.......and the qb will have pressure on him, they will be in trouble. He needs a perfect game for Ozen to even stand a chance in this one. PNG's Tezeno almost takes away one side of the field, so Ozen will have to concentrate on the middle of the field and the opposite side of Tezeno

I'll never predict a big win for PNG, because all they have for now, until the sophomore qb takes over, is the run. However, they will tire the Ozen defense out in the end. Ozen will remain close with a couple of big plays.....IF, and thats a big IF....their qb play is flawless. The Ozen qb may be better than I have heard, but to ask an avg to a little above avg highschool qb to take the team on his shoulders and beat the likes of PNG is asking alot.

    PNG 31 Ozen 20

Hey, SFA, I gave em two field goals......since "they have a kicking game"[/quote']

I hope you are right, but the offense isn't nearly as good (yet) as you are making them out to be. The defense is definatlely solid. Ozen is no cupcake, this will be a battle. I do like the Indian's chances, however. I predict PNG 20, Ozen 12 (2 missed x-points).

This is a MUST win for Ozen. After losing three straight, an opening loss to PNG in district will knock the wind out of their sails. As of right now, they can say everyone is 0-0.

If the QB can come around, I think PNG will be one of the favorites in the district. Right now, just too many offensive question marks.

  2. The only way WO-S loses in district is if they beat themselves. There are a few teams that are certainly good enough to capitolize on mistakes. -- (Look at Central with 5 turnovers losing to Sterling. It should have never happened, yet it did. )

Silsbee and Jasper will be the biggest obstacles once district comes around. BC has some good skill players, HJ and HF both will be capable of playoff runs as well. This will be a fun district to watch, but no one touches WOS if they are focussed for each game.

  3. I seem to recall seeing a few posts saying that Lumberton would shut down Mosley like they did to Dishon. This is what we sometimes refer to as "smack talk". Now, there is nothing wrong with talking smack at all. It is what keep these boards interesting.

Now, you can take the comments made as bashing. I think it is mearly a reality check. Lumberton has beated two teams they were expected to beat. They should beat Cleveland handily this week. Lumberton has a good team. I know that everyone in the area feels they are improved. But they have yet make a move to indicate that they are ready for the big 5 in their district.

This is just a really, really, really tough 4A group. I'd love to see Lumberton in the mix at the end of things. I think they will scare a few, as will Vidor. (sorry LCM fans, just dont think you guys have it this year.)

The cool thing is, all of this is just speculation. In the end, it is all told on the football field, and what us arm chair quarterbacks, wannabe coaches thinks will mean very little.

  4. Jaws,

That is just not the case at all. Sabine Pass has a long history of pretty good football. The pinacle was in the late 70's and early 80's. They had a quarterback down there that beat Todd Dodge's area passing numbers.

Numbers killed them over the last 10 to 15 years, but with the influx of Port Acres kids, things are coming back.

My dad played football back in the late 60's for the Sharks. My mom was a cheerleader, as were two aunts. I grew up watching many great High Island- Sabine Pass rivalry games.

  5. You Lumberton fans are just crazy!!! lol. You'd think you guys jsut took down Brenham by all the smack you all talk. I think it is great, however, that Lumberton is building some solid school pride over there. There is no doubt that 5 to 10 years from now, Lumberton will be right in the thick of things in this 4A district.

    Today, though:

Nederland, even without Mosley, is FAR better than BC. With him in there, Nederland takes the game 42-14, because the L-town tacklers wont be able to handle him and that big O-Line., and the Defense is much better than BC's.

(And yes, you can LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT GAME AS A FAN! That one game at a time thing is for the coaches and players.)

  6. Lumberton will lose to Central, Ozen, Nederland, PNG, and Dayton. They may play one or two close, but a win over any one of the above would be a MAJOR upset. Vidor is dead even and in the same boat as Lumberton. Good team in a great district. LC-M should be a winnable game. With a win over LCM, a 50/50 against Vidor, the best that they will PROBABLY do is 2-5 in district with no playoff.

  7. Suggs is a good coach.. I always thought he should have been the selection for head coach at Memorial over Colbert. He had less talent at Lincoln, overall, but did far more with his than Colbert did with the Jackets.

This week will be more about how Memorial's defence is prepared. If they come out and play like they did in the first half agains Ozen, and if the offence limits turnovers, Memorial wins 30-14.
