  1. Definitely a sign of weakness! I was actually fishing for someone to type up the details of BUNA beating Ozen...speaking of weakness.
  2. Can somebody post some results from this tournament? I wanted to make it out there, but the wife already had plans for my weekend. Who won the whole thing? Any big games? What teams and players performed well?
  3. I think the Parquet kid at HJ/Kelly/West Brook/Oak Hill Academy is probably the best all around player in the area. Those two freshmen at Silsbee are obviously very good and I think they are a cut above the rest of a very good team. Katon Brown at LCM has been very productive every time I've seen him and LCM has a lefty guard that I think is going to be a difference maker next year. Darrell Jones and the Rayford boy at Nederland are a very athletic backcourt. Jones kid at Ozen is good and its hard to ignore their big guy. Central has a bunch of guys that can play, but I don't know their names. I'm not sure if they count, but Huffman has a big wing that can play too.
  4. Were there any results from this tournament besides this love affair between stevenash and bluedove?
  5. Georgia and New Mexico are really big time offers, but I consider Oklahoma State to be in a tier above those two programs. Y'all can laugh at me if you want, though.
  6. Congrats! I can't think of the last basketball offer from a big time school to a kid in this area. This is a pretty big deal.
  7. Weisbrod, a UNLV commit, all those shooters! How come Nederland couldn't get over the hump and win the whole thing? Gotta be coaching holding them back...
  8. How about Jason Throop from HJ and LCM. That guy could score and he would let you know about it. Whatever happened to him?
  9. I appreciate that! And I apologize for helping that thread run away. Should a never said anything...
  10. If only you guys didn't recruit all the guys on your magical list, maybe the schools around here would be more willing to play Kelly...
  11. Bates is a good dude. Hope everything works for the best in Frankston!
  12. Remember when we were all in school and no one EVER transferred schools? The good ole days when kids would ONLY play at the school they grew up with and with their friends? And when parents thought it was ridiculous to move their kids school for any reason? This culture is a shame. It's like we're turning kids into mercenaries looking for the best team or easiest situation, rather than COMPETING and battling through whatever life throws at you. I'd rather my kid endure a horrible season where he belongs than run somewhere that the grass appears to be greener. The days of pride are gone it appears.
  13. Huffman has two kids coming back who can really play. Hj with no Parquet is not a huge favorite to me.
  14. Can I get a list of top juniors and sophomores in the area for next year? The board seems to be dragging lately and I need something to occupy my time. Also, I know Silsbee's whole team is very good. It is well documented on here. I would like some guys to watch for next year. Have at it...
  15. What seniors is Kountze losing after this year?
  16. Well, how bout this? IT'S NOT A REAL RANKING!!! Concordia is not better than Ozen, either. I like Kelly and the district is strong, but let's be real.
  17. Can anyone get me a list of scheduled tournaments?
  18. LCM won their playoff game last year and West Orange almost knocked off the one seed. I'd hold off before saying that other district is better. I have not been particularly impressed by anyone in that other district.
  19. Come on, man! This is the weakest LCM team in years!
  20. If I didn't know any better, it almost appears that Hardin-Jefferson is running from Silsbee. That can't be, though, because they don't have anyone in a position of authority and the UIL would never do something like that. Oh well, I guess that rivalry is done. I don't see them agreeing to a game on their own.
  21. He's got Bridge City sitting comfortably in 3rd in that district, while Vidor is now 0-fer in theirs. There is always a winner and a loser in every exchange. Parents need to realize that its not always (or even usually) the coach's fault when a team doesn't win.
  22. I've got a couple takeaways from this and I don't think many of you will like them...but I'm going to share anyway. I don't think this HJ team is as good as last year's and I don't think last year's was as good as the year before. They've got three VERY good pieces that complement each other, but the overall depth and athleticism is not there like it has been in the past. I really like the way the Saladin kid plays and he is the rare high school kid that understands the game, but physicality and focus on where he is can definitely limit him. I really like Roberts defensively, but consistently he does not put the ball in the basket. I REALLY, REALLY like Parquet's game at this point, but I have not seen him slash to the rim and score. Coach Davis has done a very good job with them and I think they're ranked right about where they should be in that 20ish range. I just don't see them as a threat to go to San Antonio. Silsbee is fast and they are deeeeeeep! I do think they will make a deep playoff run (deeper than HJ), but I think it will be difficult for them to take the whole thing. The Roberts kid, and maybe some others from games I haven't seen, exposed a glaring weakness. There is no real size inside! For what they have, Silsbee does an incredible job or sending guys to the boards, but there is no substitute for real quality size. If they run into a team that won't be overwhelmed by the pressure and has a big guy or two, Silsbee could be in trouble. Sounded to me like that is what happened with Liberty Hill. Also, who is the guy for Silsbee? Who gets the ball with the game on the line and says I got this? I see a whole team of Scottie Pippens (poor Silsbee, right?) and wonder is there a killer like Jordan? With all that said, I hope these two teams meet in the regional final. That would be exciting to see and great for basketball down here.
