I am not one of the coaches but here is my opinion and my opinion only.

CH had a bye in the schedule. Arp had a bye in the schedule. This was scheduled early on.

Why sit around and get rusty when you can play a quality opponent regardless of whether you may see them way down the road at the regional tournament. Both teams will ahve to play a lot of good basketball to see each other again at the regional tourney.

Which was my point. The game was scheduled before the season. At that point, neither team knew how they would finish in their district. It was quite possible they could have faced each other in the 3rd round of the playoffs if either one of them finished 2nd in the district. That would have put them playing on 2/14 and again on 3/2 or 3/3. It only worked out because both teams won their district which now means they won't play again until the Regional Tournament.

My understanding is that both coaches are good friends and have been in the same district the past 2 years. They both had the same bye and each coach figured they would win their district and agreed to play as long as they were on opposite sides of the bracket. Otherwise there wouldn't have been a game. I know that I've seen Arp in previous warmup games in previous years and they always play their bench guys more than their starters so it's hardly worth trying to scout them. As far as the Johnson kid, he was a stud his sophomore year but wasn't as impressive when they were back at the drum his senior year. I believe he's playing football at Iowa State now

    Andrew Brown jr Arp....lol
Is this kid #32?I heard today from a VERY reliable source that Arp had a kid that could flat out go.

I don't know if Arp has a 32 and if they do i don't remember. From when i saw them they had their best players were #2, 15 (cooper?), and 23. #2 and 23 were the ones that handled the ball, and I heard cooper was going to oklahoma state for football. I'm interested to see the arp/new waverly game
  3. From what I read, Sabine's bus broke down on the way to the game Tuesday and they didn't play the game. The loss to TK Gorman was odd because they're an average private school team. Clarksville is a respectable loss. Sabine is going to run a 1-2-2 defense, and will not look athletic as they walk into the gym. They'll mix in some different presses every once in a while. They shoot the ball well, and their best overall player is Noah Jackson. The leader of the team is Colton Kirk their point guard. This is all going off of what I saw last season. Sabine's coach is arrogant and I believe is the reason they lost in the regional final last year. Instead of allowing his players to play defense, he had them sit back in their zone the entire 3rd quarter as New Waverly held the ball and most of the 4th quarter as well. Athletically, they won't matchup with Kountze or HJ, but they're very fundamentally sound and should be competitive in the tournament.
