Warren hasn't been blown out all year. Have lost some really close games but have not even come close to being blown out. Have lost some close ones have beat teams better than The Elks.
Just wondering, I am not familiar with Warrens schedule and don't pretend to be. But I am interested to hear who they played and beat that was better than Elkhart. If I'm not mistaken Elkhart returned somewhere around 7 starters from a team that went to State. Again, I have no clue who  warren played early so help me out.
 2.
hair does not affect the ball going in the hoop. God created you with hair so you should wear it how you see fit in a tasteful way IMO
God created coaches to run a program and they set the rules.  If the coaches' rules say have your hair a certain way, then go get your hair in compliance or go find something else to do.  A hair policy is a decision by the coach and it's his program.  Next thing you know, we will have parents calling the Beaumont Enterprise because a coach plays zone and their child wants to play man to man.
 3.
Great win for Woodville, very suprsing.  I still think they will split.  CH is struggling big time at the guard position.  They have the guards and have the speed, Sells didnt hurt them, the third set of helpers were not rotating on his penetration.  For CH to make a long run in the playoffs they are going to have to pick their guard play up.  Their guards are not playing tough and to their ability.  Excuses aside, Woodville got the win.  Congrats Woodville.
You guys can sit here and wager, debate, and predict district champions all you want.  I'll be the first to say I have no idea, even after last night, who will win the title.  Central Heights is an EXCEPTIONAL team with a great defense.  But I will argue what has alreay happened.  Sells didn't hurt them??? Let's rehash this game a minute.  Sells scored 13.  Not a record by any stretch but with Woodville putting up 42, that is just under 1/3 of Woodville's total points. Now, let's throw in the 4, maybe 5 or 6, assists he had and  you are talking about Sells being involved in at least half of Woodville's points.  Near the end with the scored tied, CH spread the court and was obviously content with holding for a last shot but they couldn't do it.  Sells pressured #5 for CH into a turnover and forced him to foul to prevent a break away lay up which also happened to be the fifth foul on #5 for Central Heights.  Sells made one free throw to put Woodville up, then after CH failed to score they fouled Sells who proceeded to make two more free throws to put Woodville up by 3.  This obviously forced CH into having to go for 3 instead of possibly playing for a 2. Seems to me like Sells hurt CH plenty. Not sure what else you want the kid to do.  Gonna be a great game in Woodville next time around...
 4.
Then every winning record in Texas has a good team and coach and every losing record has a bad team and coach.  Dont buy it.  It is not that simple.  Records do not speak for themselves.  Never have.
just out of curiosity, what game did you happen to see?
 5.
Too big for Hardin? Being BIG will not beat Hardin young man. Being faster and smarter than Hardin will beat Hardin. You have to be able to defend the Spread Offense, and contain the Pro-style Pass attack. If you can do those things, then you can beat Hardin. Buna's size has nothing to do with stopping the Oopty Oop young'n. They can send 8 and drop 3 all day long, and zone reads, and out routes will kill a team who wants to send BIG BOYS on a blitz. That's pure stupidity, have you watched Hardin's offense? You got to contain the spread with Zone D, and have your D-line hold the run, with the Ends containing the outside. Your backers have to cover the out routes, and your Safety's can't let anything behind them. BUT if you watch HS football, and pay attention really well, you would quickly come to the impression that an Offense like that can not be stopped. It has to be contained, and you have to out-whit them, and utilize your best Athletes to cover the flats!!! If you can't do those things it will be a long NIGHT, hopefully you can pray a turnover here and there. Too big for Hardin, WOW that's incredible bro' Wow, I have two things figured out from this post: 1.  Hardin should never lose with that unstoppable offense 2.  If you were their coach, they never would. you are a genius... 6.
It's going to take a team effort from EC to do well, thats for sure.
That's true, but it generally helps to have your WHOLE TEAM when you are putting forth that effort, especially the guy that takes the snaps...
 7.
How about some directions coming from Woodville
How about you buy a map!!!  Pay backs are tough...
 8.
I think Anahuac wins this one by a dozen. Anahuac-72 Woodville-60
Now, I just gotta ask. Is your prediction based on the fact that you've seen both teams play or is this kind of like the Newton prediction last week when you said they were going to outdepth Spurger with their 7 guys even though you hadn't actually seen them  play???? I only ask because you may be right about Anahuac winning by a dozen but I don't want a guy taking credit for a good call unless he's actually seen both teams play.

Also, if you have a little extra time, and it is around lunch, you can head out of town about 10 minutes to the city of Ames.  It is right on Hwy 90 and at the 4 way there is a little restaurant called Cookies soul food kitchen.  Not much to look at, but some of the best eating I have ever had.  Buffet style, fried porkchops, fried chicken, greens, cornbread......trust me, if you are visiting, do not miss that place!
I totally agree. Cookies has some great homemade food for cheap. [/quote thanks for the help. Ended up going with Jax in Liberty. Quality burger and onion ring. Gonna plan ahead next time and hit Cookies..
 10.
Between Dayton and Liberty you have 47 mexican food places, 63 gas stations (50 of those in Dayton), and any other mom and pop restaurant and diner you can think of.  Oh I forgot the 15 Donut shops, take your pick.
Would any of those 63 gas stations be an Allsups by any chance, where you can not only get a deep fried burrito, but also walk out smelling like one for about a week?????
 11.

Winner of the EC/New Waverly game will face the winner of the Kountze/? game
Just leave it at the ktz game lol
You can also leave it at who does New Waverly play after EC... Or where might New Waverly and Kountze play....
 12. Anybody have a restaurant recommendation to eat at in either Liberty or Dayton?  Thanks
 13.
Now I'm confused. They are a better team than the one that played last night?? They are the team that played last night. I haven't looked at a UIL bracket but I don't see the Eagles going real deep. They will have there hands full with Anahuac or EC and neither of those clubs are regional type clubs this year.
I think what the guy meant was that wasn't the real Woodville Eagle team that played last night.  And if #5 didn't play I would agree to an extent with that statement since #5 really does seem to make them go.  But I would also like to say that is not a knock on the job Newton did Friday night or during the whole district season for that matter.  They've obviously improved tremendously throughout district.  Now, as far as Woodville going deep or not going deep, I'll be the first to say, I have no idea what's going to happen.  I have seen neither Anahuac nor EC play and I am sure they are both talented ball clubs.  But I tell you what I do know.  The boys from Woodville are most likely going to win an outright district title, which means they at least go two rounds, and they are going to win 20+ games.  I'm not from Woodville but I am going to guess none of those things has happen in quite some time.  How about we alums from other schools stop looking ahead for a minute and actually congratulate this team on some of the things they have already accomplished.
 14.
Woodville has some great athletes that play basketball. They aren't really basketball players but they can out athlete some folks but it can catch up with them sometimes.
For starters, I just gotta ask how many times you've seen woodville play because most of your posts seem to revolve around spending a large amount of time following East Chambers.  But my real question is, what in the heck does "has some great athletes that play basketball" actually mean??? I have actually watched Woodville play a few times and I gotta tell you their #5 is hands down one of the best ball handlers in the area, especially in 2A.  He also seems to be able to get to the rim about anytime he wants... Now is this just a great athlete playing basketball or is he really a basketball player??? This team full of  "great athletes" also plays a big kid a good bit who looks like an O-lineman and he seems to draw about 2 or 3 charges a game.  Is being in the proper defensive position a basketball skill or just a "great athlete" beating people to a spot???  This just sounds like a post you've had typed since around January and FINALLY got a chance to use it... But hey, I bet Daingerfield was just a bunch of great athletes that happen to play football too, not really football players.  And lastly, congratulations to Newton and good luck in the playoffs.
 15.

Why is Kountze playing Legacy this late in the season?
I would assume they had an "OPEN" date in the district schedule AAW.  ::) It's getting pretty close to playoff time and I'm sure Joubert wants to keep the guys going without missing a beat. You can't simulate a 'game-time' situations at practice ya know. Sometimes I wonder..... ::)
In this case I am going to have to disagree with you.  Kountze couldve played a red team vs white team scrimmage or a shirts vs skins yesterday in practice, called their own fouls, heck, even played make it take it if they wanted to and it would've been more competitive and more "game like" than whatever you wanna call that against Legacy...
 16.
I watched nearly every AAA team in the area last year. I also saw Kirbyville play. From this viewpoint Kirbyville should be favored in this area. The other top competitors should be in this order, Jasper, WOS and Silsbee. In small classes the team with the best player usually goes the furthest. Kirbyville has the best player at the start of the season and he has a strong supporting cast.
Didn't Jasper beat Kirbyville last year?
 17. "Caleb Cucancic (reigning 22-2A MVP)" I guess I am a little slow or didn't read the right posts at the end of football season.  Fred Ford was not the MVP of his district???? Now that is very interesting...
 18.
Are these the same kids that were going to run EC off the football field? And how did that turn out ;D
Well, I for one, never said Woodville would run all over EC in football.  Felt like it would be a good game, which it was.  Secondly, not sure why an EC guy is popping off since this is probably going to come down to Woodville/Anahuac.  And lastly, Woodville could've beat Kountze by 100 in football, yet, we all know that didn't and won't happen in basketball, which lends itself to my next point.  You're post comparing football and basketball could be one of the more unintelligent things I've read on here.  Good Luck to the Bucs tonight though, on the basketball court, with no pads, with a round ball, in Anahuac... See True Blue, the sports don't even use the same equipment or playing arena... ;)
 19.

This shouldn't even be an issue because woodville is gonna spank whoever the winner is in the 2nd round of playoffs!!! ;D
Woodville won't spank Anahuac and they absolutely want no part of Kountze. The Eagles aren't bad but are fortunate to be playing in a pretty weak district.
No, the team fortunate to be in a pretty weak district will be the 3rd place team from that district, not Woodville.  Woodville would be a playoff team in probably any 2-A district in the state.  This doesn't guarantee anything come playoff time, but Woodville will be in the playoffs and it has nothing to do with a "weak" district.  Now, as for the "they want absolutely no part of Kountze" comment- outside of New Waverly in this region, who really does??? Not exactly a revealing statement there... Good Luck the rest of the way to all playoff hopefuls.
 20. Woodville wins it 61-50. Some pretty clutch free throw shooting for the Lady Eagles down the stretch. Congratulations and Good Luck.
 21. 30-18 Woodville end of 1st half. Salado hit a 3 just inside halfcourt at the buzzer.
 22. Jarhead, consider yourself warned that logic is not always welcomed here. Well I did kind of flinch when I realized somebody had replied to my post. I've seen some of the blastings people get but I figured since I didn't actually say that Silsbee (or HJ for that matter) would lose, I might be able to walk out and not limp out!
 23. Obviously the odds are Silsbee will win this game but here is one thing to remember- the pressure really is all on them. We can get on here and say how Jasper has no shot and they are going to get blown out and maybe they will. But even if that happens, Jasper can walk out of that gym knowing that they had a great year and probably went as far as they could. ON THE OTHER HAND THOUGH, if Silsbee were to lose, their season to some degree would be considered a failure which is unfortunate but also true. I know Silsbee has played in some high profile games this year with HJ and they know what pressure feels like BUT the pressure of a game that determines your playoff seeding isn't quite the same as a game that determines if you get to keep playing. I imagine Silsbee will win this one and Congrats to them if they do but let's just go ahead, throw that ball up at 8:00 in Huntsville, and play that game anyway. Hope it's a good one.
