1. Sounds like an impressive opening night for Crosby's ace.  How many pitches did it take to mow down Sante Fe?
2. The sports world is anxiously awaiting admin's preseason top ten. Any release date announced for that yet?
3. I have a hard time believing this is legit. Gilligan is giving one on one lessons for 40 an hour. That just doesn't seem right. What coaches are participating in this?
4. I am going to say the jury is still out on the programs improvement as far as I am concerned.  5-5 in district was good enough to get in but by no means a huge turn around as far as mustang baseball goes. WOS has been finishing in or around third place for years.  Other mustang coaches that finished third (thompson, moore, westbrook, rivers) were not allowed to go to the playoffs by the UIL during those years.  Now they do.  Tarkington would have finished fifth or sixth in our district.  Now there is a bye.  I am holding back on labeling current operations ahead of those coaches mentioned before just yet.
5.

My prediction is Brenham 10-1.  Just too strong for Crosby.  They flipped Brenham for one game for a reason.  They are rolling the dice to try and put together a perfect seven innings.  It happens in baseball.  The team that plays best on game day wins. I am not downing Crosby, (I am touting Brenham) but Brenham gets the check mark in every aspect of the game.  1) Playing basically at home.  (summer and fall lands them in Langham Creek) 2) Brenham tradition 3) Coach with over 500 wins 4) they are better at all nine positions 5) team speed 6) more power 7) higher team batting average (don't know Crosby's but I bet it is not higher than .390 8) strength of schedule I may be wrong.  I have only kept up from afar after seeing both teams play early.  Tried, but can't think of any category that Crosby would receive the check mark? Huge underdog!
here are the stats for both teams Brenham team                                       Crosby team       28-4                                                   24-5 .380 batt avg.                                  .314 batt avg     2.92 ERA                                           1.80 ERA     58 E                                                44 E    .945 FP                                             .955 FP      105 SB                                               61 SB Chase Welbrook  vs Jeremy Gabryzswski 2.33 ERA                   1.39 ERA 74 K                         92 K Not really a "HUGE UNDERDOG" as you think!!!!!!!   Go Coogs
1) The .384 batting average was before scoring thirty runs last weekend on thirty? hits. 2) If JG pitched against the same opponents that CW has pitched against, he would not have 92 K's. 3) If CW pitched against the same opponents the JG has pitched against he could have have 120 K's. 4) ERA would be different as well.  Example: Brenham vs. 12 5A teams on schedule & Crosby vs. 5 or 6 3A teams on schedule. I agree on who is the underdog.   That does not mean Crosby can't put it all together for seven innings and sneak up on them.  Just saying they are not favored to win.
6.

Ditto Brenhamfan and thanks Eagle07. Friday night is Senior Night at the Dogpound.
Should be a special night............savor the moment.
I didn't think Nederland had very many seniors. I thought they had most of their starting nine returning.
7.
every one is doubting lcm this year because the  lose of all of the players they had last year but i'd watch out for them they will surprise alot of people this year
Better watch for Lumberton they seem to really be on the rise with some serious talent this year. The first three spots are a lock. Ozen and Central are down. Not sure about Livingston, but I think they could give Lumberton and LCM trouble. I think you could easily see Lumberton upsetting LCM for the 4th spot in the playoffs.
8. Will everyone be contacted or if you don't hear back in a short period of time you should just make other plans?
9. I personally think the game should not be counted as a win for LC or a loss for the other team since they could not throw their best pitcher and the umpires that showed up were from one teams usual umps.
10. If you are asking what teams have a chance to win the region in 4a. It is way to early to be talking to much about that. However since you asked. I would say the only two teams from SETX with a real chance would be BH and PNG. The other teams from this area don't really have enough pitching. Mont. and Brenham will be those two teams biggest hurdle as they too will have very good pitching.
11. I don't want to start anything with you WOS people, so please don't take this the wrong way. I just don't understand. You guys are complaining about the OC that according to some of you has been terrible for a decade. Then in the same breath you praise your head coach as the greatest of all time. Why would the greatest of all time have an OC that is terrible for a decade, when if I am not mistaken, he has someone else named Thompson that does all the deffense. I mean what is the head coaches roll and responsiblilty. In my opinion a coordinater can only screw something up that long if the head coach allows.
12. Coop, Might need to start putting a rating system in for the links so small children don't end up having to hear the F word.
13. Not trying to sound arrogant, but Liberty doesn't play in the sam type of district we play in. HJ in two.
14. I didn't mean to get you guys all fired up. They will still be a solid team and will probably still make the playoffs, but they slipped a little in being dominate this year and you can look for a little more slip next year.
15. He better get some experience this year becuase next year the cupboard will be bare except for him. What a load he will have to carry.
16. Surely Monse will be playing first in the playoffs. Someone reafirm me please.
17. For what district? And did they release them?
18. Phil Jackson: "All coaches that win have good players, but not all coaches that have good players win." Just food for thought. I think I read this on this site once and it stuck with me. Seems to apply out here sometimes.
19. Very well said. Besides the rankings are really just for fun. And to give the dads something to talk about at work.
20. Tough week for Ozen. Dayton monday, LCM tuesday, and Nederland friday. But if anyone has the pitching to get through this week it is Ozen. I say they right the ship Monday night with a win over Dayton 5-1.
21. Nederland may very well win this game, but after the Jasper tournament win I don't see how you don't atleast pick Vidor. Anything could happen, but they have to be the favorites. Vidor 6 Nederland 3
22. It is the same thing every year up there. That is part of the reason they seem to fade toward the end and never seem to make much noise in the playoffs. Also when was the last Jasper pitcher to have a real productive college carreer. I am guessing it was under the last coach.
