1. I had posted this on the Nederland thread and also wanted to post it here also...You know i have been watching High School Football in this area since the early 70's and what has happened recently to the local teams is it seems like we have great defenses, but when we get to the 3rd and 4th round of the playoffs the offenses just cannot carry their share of the load.  Whether it is schematic or types of offense's being ran, they just do not match up against the teams that they face in the later rounds.  This happened to WO-S and it happened To Nederland, the offense's imploded with turnovers, therefore keeping their defense's on the field to long and eventually wearing down.  I saw a very dominant team in Navasota last night, with one of the best offense's I've seen in a long time.  Not taking anything away from WO-S's defense, but the QB from Navasota was very good, and it would have taken a mistake free game by the offense to even stay close. It seems like Nederland ran into the same type of buzzsaw today...Congrats to both WO-S and Nederland on great seasons and you have nothing to hang your head about...and to Navasota and Georgetown I hope ya'll bring the hardware back to Region III.

3. CBMurphy11...that was the most realistic post that I have read on here.  I just don't believe you disrespect your opponent like both sides have done on this forum.  I believe it will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.  If Navasota wins they will have a least one more WO-S supporter backing them to a State Championship.  Good luck to both teams and stay injury free.  But like you I am pulling for my team to win.  Lets go Stangs!!!  Leave it all out on the field!!!! [move]Lets Go Mustangs!!!  Play This Game Like It Is Your Last...With No Regrets[/move]
4. Good job Skipper!  Your reverse psychology has been working.  You know the Chaingang 1st priority is stopping the run.  If WC can run on the stangs consistently and score then they deserve to win...just don't see it happening...IMHO
5. Was a running clock the whole 2nd half.  14 total yards...3 in 1st half...11 in 2nd half...-3 yards passing for the game...4 1st downs...3 by penalty and 1 by their offense.  Total domination.  You can only play who they put in front of you.
6. Remarks from the Austin American-Statesman newspaper.  Quote "We've got Coldspring, we've got some blood in our mouths," Wimberley junior Reed Jones said. "This is a big win. We're going to be pumped, ready to go for next week. We're going to get it done." Unquote.  A little Bulletin Board fodder.
7. A "lobo" is a LONE WOLF..Not a pack of wolves..do a little research.  lol
8. We stopped everything else BR had. But when Williams ran the ball he wasn't for the most part being touched till he was in our secondary and then it is a mismatch, 205lbs at full speed against  160-170 pounders and that is a mismatch. I feel oustside of the turnovers, we lost the battle in the trenches.  I've never feared us playing bigger teams, but when they are bigger and as athletic as we are, those are the teams that give us problems.  Make no mistake BR did not win this game with smoke and mirrors they are a team to be reckoned with, but I do believe if Kville plays a solid mistake free game I think they will come out on top, because not only do they have the running game, but also the passing game to do damage.  Kville's QB I believe will have a big say in who wins this game.  Learn from WO-S's mistakes and you will be successful...GO Wildcats Orange County is behind you...REPRESENT!!!!!!
9.

what happened after the game?
In the middle of the field for all of the world to see, while the rest of the team was going thru the line to shake hands - a WOS player thought he would chase down the refs and yell his thoughts at them. The WOS coaches and police quickly got him out of there and the refs left the field. Terrible show of sportsmanship, I have never seen it before and I am sure he is in for a lot of running.
I don't know what you were watching, but what I saw was an assistant coach trail  after a ref and he was collared by his father, not naming names here. The coach was pretty irate. I did not see any kids do anything of which you are descibing and I was at the game
10. Forgot about probably the best QB from Stark, David Foster.  Chachie Owens, Dan Sears, & Allen Eads. The Coaches in the early 70's were Dexter Bassinger and Neal Morgan.  And who can forget where Wade Phillips started his coaching career at...Stark High School.  A few more Joey Robbins, Ronnie Garrison(who recently passed away), and the Teate brothers(Danny & Donald).  Oh Yeah and Sammy could throw a football the length of the football field(lol). Just Funnin' with you Sammy.  Mike "Pop" Schrieber here Sammy.
11. Hey Hoop, I'm living in Arizona now. Is there anyway I could get one sent to me. I would gladly pay the postage. I need to have my SE Texas football fix. Football here is not as good as Texas football, so I don't even bother going.
12. Needing directions to H-F Baseball Field from Bridge City.
13. How about old Stark High School, Which was one of the dominant teams in the late 60's and 70's. Doug Patterson, Dennis Duhon, Tom Ball, Bruce Taylor, Burt Fare, Mike Schrieber, Jody Mazzola, and Grant Gipson to name a few.
14. Hey Thanks a lot, wish I could come back and pitch for you(lol). But it sure brings back memories of the good ole days. As my daughter would say you are just reminiscing about "Back in the Day".
15. I am a displaced GT football fan here in Arizona. I am trying to find out when the local newspapers will be releasing they're annual football magazines. I would appreciate any information that I would receive, therefore I could let my son know so he could send them to me. Football is just not the same here in Arizona. I just miss the passion for football in SE Texas on Friday nights. Thanks Again Mike Schrieber
16. Baseball Scores Five Unanswered to Win Series, 9-7 (04/06/2008) BY www.LSUsports.net BATON ROUGE -- LSU defeated Alabama, 9-7, in the rubber match of the SEC series on Sunday in Alex Box Stadium. The lead changed three times, and the game was tied in three separate innings. The Tigers (20-11, 5-7 SEC) collected 14 hits on the day and left only eight on base. Derek Helenihi collected three hits in the game, and Blake Dean, Micah Gibbs, Chris McGhee and Johnny Dishon each had two. Helenihi had a team-high three RBI as well as hitting his first home run of the season. “You don’t get used to these SEC series,†said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “I feel like I went 15 rounds with (Muhammad) Ali this weekend. We had to battle so hard over the weekend. Alabama has a heck of a team, and I think we do too. It was a great team victory.†Blake Martin, who got the start on Friday before the game was called due to thunderstorms, started on the mound for the Tigers Sunday. He retired Alabama (17-15, 5-7 SEC) in order in the top of the first. Blake Dean got things going for the Tigers in the bottom of the first with a base hit. Matt Clark then reached on an error when Robert Phares, Alabama’s starting pitcher, missed the throw at first for a double play. However, Ryan Schimpf struck out looking to end the inning. Alabama got on the board first when Brandon May, who was 0-18 in his last five SEC games, hit a home run off the Intimidator billboard in right field. It was the first home run for Alabama in the last 57 innings of play. Martin persevered, retiring the next three batters in order. The Tigers countered May’s home run with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Leon Landry legged out an infield single in the bottom of the second and reached third on a wild pitch. He then came home to tie the game on a sacrifice fly by Gibbs. Designated hitter McGhee, getting his first start of the season, doubled to right field. Dishon, who homered and tripled in the series, hit a double down the right field line that brought McGhee home. Dishon scored on a single up the middle by Helenihi, who moved to third on a single by Dean. Clark was walked to load the bases for Schimpf, who struck out to end the inning. Martin forced Ryan Rhoden to fly out to left before he hit Jake Smith and gave up a single to Josh Rutledge in the third. Smith came home on an Alex Kubal single. May hit a sharp grounder up the middle that scored Rutledge, tying the game at three runs a piece before the inning ended. Martin came out in the fourth, having pitched 3.1 innings and recording five strikeouts. Nolan Cain came on in relief, recording the final two outs of the fourth. McGhee collected his second hit of the game in the fourth with a single to right field. He stole second and advanced to third when Avila overthrew second base attempting to throw McGhee out. Dishon grounded out to the pitcher before Helenihi hit a dribbler that found its way through the left side of the infield, allowing McGhee to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead. Cain plunked his second batter of the game in the fifth before being pulled in favor of Shane Ardoin. Avila lined a double down the right field line that scored Kubal to tie the game. May collected his third hit of the game, advancing Avila to third. Avila was left stranded when Kent Matthes grounded into an inning ending double play. The Tigers were retired in order in the bottom of the fifth. Ardoin recorded the first out of the sixth before being replaced with Jordan Nicholson. He gave up a double to Wilson before giving up a line drive single to Rhoden that scored the go-ahead run. The Crimson Tide weren’t done with their offensive onslaught. Smith hit a two-run homer to left field to put Alabama up, 7-4. Gibbs lined a shot to right field that put him on base in the sixth. McGhee walked, reaching base for the third time on the day. Dishon doubled for the second time on the day, scoring Gibbs and moving McGhee to third with no outs. Phares was relieved by right-hander Casey Kebodeaux. He retired Helenihi before Dean grounded out to second for the second out. Dean’s grounder brought home McGhee to make it a one-run game. Clark then walked for the seventh time in the series. On the first pitch to Schimpf, Kebodeaux threw a wild pitch, bringing home Dishon for the tying run. Schimpf then grounded out to end the inning. “I had to challenge our team before the sixth,†Mainieri said. “Micah Gibbs got in there and had some of the best cuts I’ve seen all year. Chris McGhee and Johnny Dishon had some great at-bats too.†LSU reliever Ryan Byrd gave up back-to-back singles to open the seventh. Matt Bentley moved both base runners over on a sacrifice bunt. Paul Bertuccini came in to relieve Byrd. He struck out Wilson, but walked Rhoden to load the bases for Smith, who hit a long fly to center field that was tracked down by Landry for the final out of the inning. LeMahieu notched his first hit of the game in the seventh, extending his hitting streak to nine games. He moved to second on a groundout by Landry. Gibbs hit a double over the head of Alabama’s center fielder, bringing home LeMahieu to take the lead. McGhee flied out to right. Dishon hit a shot to left center, causing Kubal and May to collide upon making the catch. However, Kubal secured the ball, ending the inning. Helenihi added to the Tigers lead, launching his first home run as a Tiger in the bottom of the eighth. Dean and Clark flied out before Schimpf doubled down the left field line. He reached third on a wild pitch, but was left on base when LeMahieu struck out to end the inning. Bertuccini (1-0) was credited with his first win of the season. He pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. Kebodeaux (2-4) was charged with the loss. He pitched two innings, giving up two earned runs. 17. Hubbard Hits 3 run HR in 1st...BC leads 3-0. Dillon pitching for BC and Felts is on the bump for Orangefield.
18. I've been out here in Arizona for almost a year now. I was a 18 yr season ticket holder at WO-S. Out here in Az. after the regular season is over they re seed the top 16 teams in the state and it is done based on a power point system. I haven't figured out how they do the power points yet, but iwould assume a lot of it has to do with who you play. Of course they don't have near the number of teams that Texas has. I tell you after watching football out here their is no comparison to Texas football. I still listen to Gary Stelly every Friday to get my fix on SE Texas football. Go all SE Texas teams, represent all the local districts well. And to the Mustangs, you've got a score to settle.
19. i've been following Mustang football since they combined schools. This is not to say that I am an expert on the Mustangs but it does mean I do have insight into what the Mustangs have accomplished and how they accomplished it. Point being when the Mustangs were going to State Championships they were winning with a very strong defense and the veer. They are still winning, but when you come up against a team of equal talent, you have to be able to run the football, (Ex.On Giddings 1 yd line). Also, you have to be flexible enough to know what your strengths are(Ex. you lost 2 D1 Recievers and you have a young QB, hence your strength is your returning All-Dist. Rb). I'm not saying ditch the spread because it does have its uses. But if I see I can move the ball on the ground I would do it until the young QB & Recievers jell together.
20. The 2 strike squeeze is not high percentage play, especially with the clean-up hitter up. My personal opinion is, no pun intended, it is suicide, not a make something happen play. A properly placed Ground ball or flyball gets the run in. Just make contact!!!!
21. On a couple of occasions when the catcher has to dive out to catch the ball and it is called a strike, that may answer your question. It was called consistently for both sides but not by the book. I thought Silsbee blew a golden opportunity when they had runners at 2nd & 3rd with the #4 hitter up and tried a squeeze play with 2 strikes, I believe with 1 or no outs. He fouled it back for a strikeout. Don't understand the thinking there.
22. Sulphur JV and Ned. JV were playing for 3rd & 4th, BC JV beat LC-M JV 12-2 to win the consolation bracket.
